Abstract

This literature review explores recent developments in innovative volleyball learning models within physical education (PE), emphasizing student-centered strategies designed to improve technical skills, game understanding, motivation, and social interaction. A systematic review of 30 peer-reviewed national and Scopus-indexed journal articles published between 2014 and 2024 was conducted. The literature search utilized databases including Scopus, DOAJ, and Google Scholar, focusing on studies applying or evaluating instructional models such as Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU), Sport Education Model (SEM), cooperative learning, and digital or multimedia-based methods. Findings reveal that the application of TGfU and SEM in volleyball PE led to significant improvements in students’ tactical knowledge and skill execution. For instance, a study by Munar et al. (2021) showed a 23.7% increase in cognitive decision-making scores after a 6-week SEM intervention. Additionally, Endriani et al. (2022) reported high feasibility in digital-based volleyball modules, with an effectiveness rating of 87.19% and learning practicality of 92.12%. Similarly, play-based and cooperative learning models demonstrated a positive impact on student motivation and participation (Padillah et al., 2020). Despite these advancements, gaps remain in longitudinal data, inclusivity across diverse student populations, and integration with online learning platforms. Therefore, future studies should focus on adaptive, hybrid, and gamified learning environments that promote equitable access and sustainable skill development in PE settings.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of comprehensive facility management on the physical fitness and sports performance of student-athletes at the South Sulawesi Sports School (PPLP). Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected from 30 athletes, five coaches, and three facility managers across four sports disciplines: athletics, pencak silat, karate, and sepak takraw. Quantitative assessments included physical performance evaluations—speed, agility, endurance, and strength—while qualitative insights were drawn from interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings revealed that only 62% of the training facilities met national standards for safety and maintenance. Key issues included inadequate lighting, worn-out flooring, and limited equipment availability. Satisfaction surveys indicated that only 40% of athletes rated the training facilities “satisfactory” or better. Physical test results showed a clear correlation between facility quality and performance: athletes with access to well-maintained facilities recorded faster sprint times (average 3.21s vs. 3.48s) and higher agility scores (16.4s vs. 17.2s). Thematic analysis of stakeholder interviews revealed three main barriers: lack of maintenance budgeting, inconsistent scheduling, and psychological impacts of poor facility quality. A Pearson correlation analysis confirmed a moderate positive relationship (r = 0.54, p < 0.05) between facility conditions and athlete performance. This study contributes a novel integrative framework combining physical assessment and stakeholder perceptions to evaluate the effectiveness of sports infrastructure. The results underscore the strategic role of facility management in optimizing athlete development and provide a model for evidence-based policy formulation in regional sports institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the impact of physical training programs on basic karate skills in SMA Negeri 14 Gowa students. Structured and intensive physical exercises are believed to improve motor skills and basic karate techniques, such as punches, kicks, balance, and agility. Using a quantitative approach with experimental design, this study involved students who participated in a karate physical training program over a specific period. Karate basic skills data were collected through skill tests before and after the training program (pre-test and post-test). The results showed a significant improvement in students' basic karate skills, with the difference in scores between pre-test and post-test ranging from 1.49 to 9.84 points. The biggest increase occurred in students who had high motivation in participating in the training program. These findings indicate that structured physical exercise contributes positively to improving basic karate technique skills, as well as improving body strength and balance. Nonetheless, the study also shows that the duration and frequency of limited exercises affect the extent to which skill improvement can be achieved. This research contributes to the development of karate training curricula in schools and provides practical insights for coaches and sports teachers in designing more effective training programs.

Abstract

This research highlights the critical role of technology in sports, particularly in identifying and developing talent more effectively. Technology enables better athlete performance analysis; however, talent identification still relies on traditional methods. Coaches and sports teachers often select athletes based solely on competition results without leveraging technology-based analysis. As a result, important biomotor components are frequently overlooked, and the manual processing of talent data is time-consuming and less effective. To develop sports talent identification software based on biomotor and anthropometric databases to accelerate the search for talented athletes and sports recommendations efficiently and accurately. Biomotor and anthropometric test items are adopted from the talent scouting test scoring system of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia. The development method consists of the following stages: (1) performing needs analysis through surveys and interviews, (2) designing a talent identification model with a flow diagram, (3) developing a talent identification model using the Entity-Relationship Model, (4) testing the validity of the model by material and media experts using the Content Validity Index, and (5) conducting field trials with battery tests and anthropometric measurements. Producing talent identification software called Talent Identification Development (TIDev). Expert validation showed the I-CVI validity index of 0.93 (material) and 0.90 (media), indicating the high effectiveness of TIDev in identifying potential athletes and providing sports recommendations. A trial of 40 junior high school students showed that 34 students felt that the recommendations were based on their interests and talents, covering 12 recommended sports. TIDev can accelerate and simplify athlete recruitment, providing accurate and reliable sports analysis and recommendations.
