Abstract

Digital transformation has fundamentally reshaped work dynamics, yet understanding the toughest challenges managers face in adapting to digital work remains underexplored across sectors. This study investigates the most pressing challenges perceived by practitioner-managers from academia, higher education, international trade, marketing, and technology industries. Using a qualitative approach, we conducted Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with seven senior managers, all domain experts with substantial leadership experience. Data were thematically analyzed to extract cross-sector insights. Findings reveal that while technological readiness and digital skills gaps are common hurdles, sector-specific issues, such as resistance to change in higher education, cross-border digital compliance in food export businesses, cyber-communication overload in technology management, and balancing data-driven marketing with creativity, compound the challenges. Despite these obstacles, discussions highlight adaptive leadership, collaborative learning, and resilience as pivotal for navigating digital transformation. This research contributes to the understanding of managerial perspectives in digital work transitions and provides practical implications for leadership development and organizational strategy in the digital era.

Abstract

The importance of human resource capabilities in managing state assets effectively and accountably through digital systems, along with the technological transformation in the state financial management bureaucracy. Although the implementation of the SIMAN and SAKTI applications has been ongoing, variations in the level of competence and user acceptance still impact the effectiveness of BMN management. This study aims to analyze the competence of human resources (HR) in managing State Assets (BMN) through the SIMAN and SAKTI applications using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach. The method used in this study is qualitative; the analysis is carried out based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework that assesses the perception of ease of use (perceived ease of use), perception of usefulness (perceived usefulness), and acceptance of technology to improve HR competency. The results of the study indicate that the HR of the Kisaran KPKNL has a fairly good level of competence in using the SIMAN and SAKTI applications to implement BMN management, especially the process of inputting and reporting state assets. HR competence and technology acceptance are key elements in the success of the digital transformation of BMN management. Improving digital competency through adaptive training, organizational support, and strengthening individual motivation are strategic steps to support transparent, efficient, and accountable governance of state assets in the digital era.

Abstract

The hospitality industry is increasingly competitive, requiring hotels to strengthen their market position through effective strategies such as rebranding, service quality improvement, and brand image development. Previous studies have often examined these factors separately, but limited research has integrated them into a comprehensive framework, particularly in the Indonesian hotel context. This study seeks to fill that gap by analyzing the influence of rebranding and service quality on customer satisfaction, with brand image serving as a mediating variable. The research was conducted at Harris Hotel Pontianak, which implemented a rebranding strategy in response to declining performance in 2020. Employing a quantitative method, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 130 hotel guests selected using accidental sampling. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS 26, supported by validity, reliability, and model fit testing. The analysis stages included Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), hypothesis testing, and bootstrapping to verify mediation effects. The findings reveal that rebranding and service quality significantly enhance brand image, which in turn fully mediates their impact on customer satisfaction. This result highlights that customer satisfaction is achieved not solely through service improvements or brand renewal, but primarily through the establishment of a strong and positive brand image. The novelty of this study lies in integrating rebranding, service quality, and brand image into a single model within the Indonesian hospitality sector. Practical recommendations suggest that hotel managers prioritize service consistency and brand communication alongside rebranding initiatives.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of motivation, welfare, work spirit, and work engagement on the performance of employees at the Indonesian Aviation Academy Banyuwangi. The research addresses a gap in existing literature by integrating these four variables within the context of a high regulation, safety critical vocational education environment. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 60 civil servants through a structured questionnaire employing a five point Likert scale. The variables were measured using established indicators, and the data were analyzed through validity and reliability testing, followed by regression analysis including partial, simultaneous, and coefficient of determination tests. Results indicate that all four variables have a positive and significant impact on employee performance, with work engagement emerging as the most dominant predictor. Collectively, these variables explain 69.7% of the variance in performance. The findings underscore the need for integrated human resource management strategies that simultaneously enhance motivation, ensure adequate welfare, strengthen morale, and foster engagement to optimize performance. The study contributes theoretical insights to human resource management in vocational education and offers practical recommendations for institutional policy making. Future research is suggested to explore additional factors such as organizational culture and leadership style to further enhance performance models in aviation education.

Abstract

The public satisfaction index for services provided by Tanjung Palas Subdistrict in 2019 was in the satisfactory category. Work motivation in Tanjung Palas Subdistrict in 2020 and 2021 did not increase. In 2024, the public satisfaction survey showed an increase in the score to 88.91, which is in the good category. This study aims to analyse the influence of the work environment and organisational culture on employee performance with job satisfaction as an intervening variable in Tanjung Palas Subdistrict, Bulungan Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with path analysis through SmartPLS. The research sample consisted of 75 employees using saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that the work environment did not have a significant effect on employee performance, either directly or through job satisfaction. Conversely, organisational culture has a significant effect on performance, including through job satisfaction as an intervening variable. In addition, job satisfaction has a positive effect on employee performance. These findings confirm that organisational culture is a dominant factor in improving performance, while the work environment does not have a significant effect. The contribution of this study lies in emphasising the importance of strengthening organisational culture and increasing job satisfaction as key strategies in public sector performance management. These results have practical implications for local governments to build a collaborative, disciplined, and public service-oriented work culture, as well as to create policies that support employee job satisfaction. Given the scarcity of research in sub-district agencies, studies using the intervening variable of job satisfaction are still rare.

Abstract

This paper examines the determinants of cinema viewers’ switching intention in Indonesia, with a focus on switching boredom, service commitment mix, and switching attractiveness. The study is motivated by the increasing competition in the entertainment industry, where audience preferences are dynamic and switching behavior is common. The central problem addressed is why cinema customers decide to switch despite existing commitments, raising the research question: How do switching boredom, service commitment mix, and switching attractiveness influence cinema viewers’ switching intentions in Indonesian theaters? Unlike previous studies that treat commitment as a switching barrier, this paper reveals that service commitment may not prevent switching when its affective, cognitive, normative, and conative components fail to engage customers. This nuance highlights a gap in the literature on customer behavior in the entertainment sector. The study employs a quantitative approach using structured online questionnaires distributed to 200 cinema-goers, selected through purposive non-probability sampling. The data were analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that switching boredom, service commitment mix, and switching attractiveness significantly and positively affect switching intention. Moreover, boredom and attractiveness have a reinforcing linear relationship that intensifies switching behavior. The findings suggest that cinema operators need to mitigate customer boredom and enhance perceived value through innovation and personalized engagement. The study contributes to the understanding of switching behavior in experience-driven services and offers practical implications for sustaining audience loyalty in competitive markets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of rebranding, service quality, and brand image on customer satisfaction at Harris Hotel Pontianak. The research background arises from the increasingly intense competition in the hospitality industry, where marketing strategies based on rebranding and service quality play a crucial role in maintaining customer loyalty. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 130 respondents, consisting of guests of Harris Hotel Pontianak. The analytical technique applied was multiple linear regression to examine the effect of independent variables on the dependent variable. The results reveal that rebranding, service quality, and brand image simultaneously have a significant effect on customer satisfaction. Partially, service quality exerts the most dominant influence, followed by brand image, while rebranding shows a weaker effect compared to the other two variables. These findings indicate that although rebranding is important in shaping new consumer perceptions, customer satisfaction is more strongly determined by the quality of services provided and the strength of the established brand image. The study concludes that hotel management should prioritize consistent improvements in service quality, strengthen brand image through effective marketing communication, and carry out continuous rebranding efforts to remain relevant to market needs. This research is expected to serve as a reference for hospitality practitioners in formulating customer satisfaction-oriented marketing strategies. Keywords: rebranding, service quality, brand image
