Abstract

The agroecosystem is an ecological system that exists within the agricultural environment and one of the natural systems that occur after it is formed by the human. The Dayak people plant local rubber and are left to grow without intensive care along with various types of pioneering plants, fruit trees and woody trees. The aim of the study is to determine the composition and vegetation. The method used in this study is purposive sampling. The results are that there are 36 species consisting of 33 genera and 23 families. Generally, there are 16 tree species, 17 pole species, 18 stake species, and 16 seedling species. The most dominant families in the Nanga Pemubuh Village in all growth rates comprise 3 families, namely Arecaceae, Dipterocaearpace, and Moraceae with each number including 4 types of vegetation. The diversity of vegetation species of rubber agroecosystem is rated as medium or stable values (H' tree = 2,339, H' pole = 2,294, and H' stake = 1,652). Uniformity of the vegetation species of rubber agroecosystem is relatively high 0.794-0.941 and there is no dominance (C) in all growth rates 0.107-0.224.

Abstract

Peat soil in West Kalimantan has been contained low of nutrient level so it affects the growth of soybeans. One effort to increase the availability of nutrients in peat soils is by using mycorrhiza and chicken manure fertilizer. This research aims to determine the growth of soybeans by administering chicken manure and mycorrhiza on peat soils. The research was conducted from January to April 2019. The research design used was a Completely Randomized Design Factorial consisting of 2 factors with 4 replications. The first factor is mycorrhiza fungi: M1 (0 gr/polybag), M2 (5 gr/polybag), M3 (10 gr/polybag), M4 (15 gr/polybag) and the second factor is chicken manure fertilizer: P1 (0 tons/ha) , P2 (5 tons/ha), P3 (10 tons/ha), P4 (15 tons/ha). The results showed that the single chicken manure application significantly affected all observed parameters with 15 tons/ha chicken manure fertilizer. Mycorrhiza fungi just a significantly effect on fresh weight and dry weight. Also, the combination of mycorrhiza fungi and chicken manure fertilizer just a significantly affected wet weight and dry weight with combination 5 g mycorrhiza and 5 tons/ha of chicken manure fertilizer.

Abstract

Mercury is one of the heavy metals and is toxic which causes a decrease in pH and soil fertility. Keladi (Caladium bicolor) is able to grow and adapt to heavy metal contaminated soil because it has a tolerance mechanism and contains antioxidant pigments. This research aims to determine the effect of mercury on the growth and the content of C. bicolor pigment. This research was conducted from January 2017 until March 2017 at Greenhouse and Biology Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Tanjugpura University Pontianak. The research was a completely randomized design with 5 replications consisting of control, concentrations HgCl2 300, 350, 400 and 450 ppm. The results showed that the concentrations of HgCl2 at 350, 400 and 450 ppm decreased the chlorophyll pigment content, wet weight and dry weight of C. bicolor. The concentrations of HgCl2 at 300 ppm increases the anthocyanin pigment content and HgCl2 had no significant effect on carotenoid pigment content.

Abstract

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. New Grand Rapids) is a vegetable plant that has a contains high nutrients. Efforts that can increase the production of lettuce is using hydroponics technology and the addition of growth regulators is gibberellin (GA3). This research aims to determine the effect of addition of GA3 to gowth of lettuce using floating technology system of hydroponics without circulation. The research was conducted for four months from May to August 2017 in the Green House and Laboratory of Biology of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University Pontianak. This research used a completely randomized design with five treatments (K) and three repetitions. The treatments given is the addition of GA3 with different consentrations: K0 (Control), K1 (5 ppm), K2 (10 ppm), K3 (15 ppm), and K4 (20 ppm). The result showed that the addition of GA3 didn’t significant affect on the number of leaves, but showed a significantly affected the height, root lenght, leaf areas, and fresh weight.

Abstract

Riparian ecosystem s an area that has ecological potential in supporting river ecosystems. This area is usually overgrown by various  types of  plants that have adapted  to live in a place that is often inundated by river water, especially when it rains. Research  on the composition and  structure of  riparian vegetation in Mount Poteng area was carried out  in April - June 2017. The method used in this study was a line method with a combination of  paths carried out  in 4 locations. The width of each lane is  20 meters and the length is ± 100 meters. Results of the sample plot of 0.03 ha  in  riparian forest around   the Poteng mountain area found a composition of riparian vegetation consisting of 23 species, 21 genera and 19 families. Araceae family is the family that dominates the Mount Poteng  riparian  area. Tree stand density ranges from 5-60 individuals / ha with diversity index ranging from 0.6 to 1.5.

Abstract

Ficus is key species that commonly lives in tropical region because of its ability to bear fruit year around, thus so many kind of Ficus that become source of food and habitat to animals. The aim of the research to determine the density and distribution pattern of Ficus spp. at Research Station of Gunung Palung National Park in May until June 2018. The observation of Ficus spp. is done by random sampling method on five different locations, there are lowland granite, warmth, sands stone, freshwater swamp and alluvial land. The result showed that there are 4 species of Ficus with density ranges 16-60 individuals/ha and the distributions patterns are uniform and grouped.

Abstract

Pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr) is a vital horticulture product for its economic value and high nutritional value. One of the alternatives to reproduce pineapple is by a means of in vitro. It aims to produce a similar seed as its parent. Then, it can cater seed’s necessity for a large scale in a short time. This research aims at identifying the response of the addition of BAP and NAA towards the growth of the shoot crown of the pineapple and to figure out the best concentration of BAP and NAA for the shoot crown’s growth. The research was conducted for 5 months since February to July 2017 at tissue culture laboratory of Aloe Vera Centre Pontianak. The research applied a Completely Randomised Design (RAL) with a factorial pattern as the following factors. The first factor was BAP (B) with the concentrations of 0 M (B0), 10-7 M (B1), 10-6 M ( B2), 5×10-6 M (B3) and the second factor was NAA (N) 0 M (N0), 10-7 M (N1), 5×10-6 M (B2). Results show that the best concentration was 10-7 M BAP + 0 M NAA with the average rates of crown and leaves were 2 and 8.66 respevtively.

Abstract

The Ketapang leaf (Terminalia catappa) has allelochemical compounds which can inhibit the growth of other plants, so it has the potential to serve as a bioherbicide. This research aims to find out the concentration of the leaf extract of Ketapang (Terminalia catappa) that is capable of inhibiting the germination of Mimosa pudica seed. This research was carried out in the screen house of the Department of Biology, and the Chemistry Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Tanjungpura University Pontianak from May to June 2015. The research used a completely randomized design with five replications. The treatments consisted of control (K0), concentration of the extract of T.catappa at 10% (K1), 25% (K2), 50% (K3), and 75% (K4) respectively. The results showed that the extract of T.catappa at concentration of 50% (0.50 g/ml) was capable of inhibiting the germination of M.pudica weed seed up to 100%.

Abstract

Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) is one of plants consumed by many poeple. This plant can be regenerated using in vitro culture to get identical plants as their mother plants with many seeds in short time by adding NAA and BAP. This research work aimed to investigate the effect of NAA and BAP on growth of Aloe vera’s shoots. This research was conducted from December 2016 to January 2017 at tissue culture laboratory of Aloe Vera Centre Pontianak. The treatments were arranged in a completely randomized design with two factor. The first factor, NAA (0 M , 10-6M , 5×10-6 M , 10-7 M) and the second factor BAP (0 M , 10-6M , 5×10-6 M , 10-7 M) were aplicated. The research finding indicated that the single NAA and BAP treatmnet and their interaction did not give significant effect, however, the treatments descriptively enhanced growth of shoots, leaves, and roots contens. The treatment for of 0 NAA + 10 7 BAP and 10 -7 NAA + 10-7 BAP enhanced 1 shoot, the treatment of 5 × 10-6 NAA + 5 × 10-6 BAP generated 2,33 leaves, and concentrtion 5 × 10-6 NAA + 10-6 BAP generated 2,66 roots.

Abstract

Batik spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is a plant that is rich in nutrients and can be used as diabetes medicine and dysentery. Therefore, increasing the growth of batik spinach plants needs to be done, one of which is the use of organic fertilizers, which can be used as rabbit biourin. The use of rabbit urine is done because rabbit urine has a high nutrient content compared to other livestock. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of biourin on the growth of batik spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.). The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 levels of concentration treatment consisting of controls, 25 ml / L, 30 ml / L, 35 ml / L, 40 ml / L, with 5 replications. The results showed that the administration of rabbit biourin significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, wet weight, dry weight and ratio of roots / canopy. The concentration of 25 ml / L gave the highest effect on the parameters of plant height, leaf number, root / crown ratio, wet weight, and dry weight.
