Abstract

Ferns (Pteridophyta) have an important role in maintaining the forest ecosystems, but land use change affects the decline in the number of fern species. This study aims to determine the types of ferns that exist in the Tembawang Kemoyu Forest, area in Layau Hamlet, Sanggau Regency. The research will be conducted from March to September 2023 in the Tembawang Kemoyu Forest area in Layau Hamlet, Sanggau Regency. The research method used is the cruise method. The results of the study found 18 species of ferns consisting of 11 families, namely Asplenium nidus, Drymoglossum piloselloides, Drynaria quercifolia, Nephrolepis bisserata, Phegopteris connectilis, Stenochlaena palustris, Selaginella intermedia, Selaginella willdenowii, Lindsaea ensifolia, Lygodium circinnatum, Pteris vieillardii, Asplenium adiantum, Adiantum latifolium, Taenitis blechnoides, Gleichenia linearis, Vittaria elongata, Elaphoglossum callifolium and Selaginella velutina.

Abstract

Begonia is flowering plant and member of the Begoniaceae Family. Begonia has spesific characteristics such as herb plants, shrub or vine, a watery trunk, and an asymmetric leaf. The purpose of this research is to identify the species of Begonia where found in the community courtyards in Pontianak city. This research has been done on June to July 2022. The Begonia sample collected in courtyard community in Pontianak city by a method of direct observation. Identification of Begonia based on the characteristic of morphology in guide book with the title “Begonias cultivation, identification, and natural history”. The result of this research is found 19 species of Begonia such as Begonia auriculata, Begonia acetosa, Begonia aconitifolia, Begonia stipulaceae, Begonia erythrophylla, Begonia abel carriere, Begonia sp., Begonia cucullata, Begonia cucullata, Begonia heracleifolia, Begonia heracleifolia, Begonia masoniana, Begonia grandis, Begonia handelii, Begonia argenteo gutata, Begonia cucullata, Begonia rex, Begonia manaus, Begonia fimbristipula.

Abstract

Famili Araceae merupakan kelompok tanaman herba yang memiliki karakter bunga yang tersusun dalam bentuk spadix yang dikelilingi oleh spatha. Tumbuhan Famili Araceae dapat ditemukan hidup secara teresterial, akuatik, maupun epifit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis tumbuhan Famili Araceae yang terdapat pada Desa Cipta Karya Kecamatan Sungai Betung Kabupaten Bengkayang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode jelajah. Hasil penelitian di Kawasan Hutan Adat Desa Cipta Karya di temukan sebanyak 9 spesies yaitu Schismatoglottis matangensis, Homalomena sp, Rhaphidophora beccarii, Rhaphidophora foraminifera, Alocasia scabriuscula dan Amydrium medium, Pothos ovatifolius, Pothos scandes dan Amorphophallus sp.

Abstract

Introduction: Malaria is an infectious disease that continues to be a public health issue worldwide, including in Indonesia. This study aims to detect the presence of Plasmodium parasites among immigrants from malaria endemic areas. Method: The research was conducted from September until November 2019 in three regency/cities in South Sulawesi, namely Makassar City, Tana Toraja and North Toraja. The population in this study were immigrants from malaria endemic areas (native Papua and non-Papua) who lived in the area for at least 2 years before visiting the cities of Makassar, Tana Toraja, or North Toraja. All samples were examined for malaria parasites using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Results: The results of the PCR test on 256 samples of migrants (native Papuan and non-Papuan) detected 19.53% positive for malaria. This research showed that a high prevalence of malaria parasites was found among asymptomatic immigrants, both native Papuans and non-Papuans in South Sulawesi. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the asymptomatic immigrants from endemic areas such as Papua need to be screened early because they may still have malaria parasites in their blood and become carriers, leading potential to cause local transmission.

Abstract

Introduction: Indoor air quality can affect the spread of airborne microorganisms which can lead to healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The quality and quantity of airborne microorganisms are responsible for mortality and morbidity in infection-prone hosts such as patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). The research aims to determine the quality of microorganisms in the air, identify the types of aerobic bacteria, and assess the physical parameters of the air in the ICU. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study with a descriptive observational method. Air specimens were collected using the MAS-100 NT tool with blood agar plate solid culture media, which then incubated in an aerobic atmosphere for 24 hours at 37±2°C. Observation and measurement of air microbiological quality was by counting the number of microorganisms in CFU/m3 and identification of bacteria using MALDI-TOF MS. Results and Discussion: The maximum concentration of microorganisms in the air exceeds the standard value, and the average value of the concentration of microorganisms in the air is 736 CFU/m3. The most common types of aerobic bacteria in the air were Bacillus sp. (n=12), Coagulase-negative Staphylococci (n=5), and Staphylococcus aureus (n=5). There was an increase in physical parameters in the form of average temperature (26.24°C) and humidity (70%) with a ventilation system and air regulation using mechanical ventilation sourced from a split air conditioner with an exhaust fan without a high-efficiency particulate-absorbing (HEPA) filter. Conclusion: Low indoor air quality has the potential to increase the concentration of microorganisms and bacterial findings in the air

Abstract

Etnis Tionghoa terutama suku Hakka merupakan etnis mayoritas yang tinggal di Kota Singkawang. Masyarakat yang tinggal di Kecamatan Singkawang Utara sampai sekarang masih memanfaatkan tumbuhan yang ada di alam sebagai obat dalam membantu memelihara kesehatan maupun pengobatan penyakit. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis tumbuhan, cara pengolahan dan penggunaan, FS (frekuensi sitasi), UVs (nilai guna spesies), dan PPV (nilai guna bagian tumbuhan) yang dimanfaatkan sebagai obat oleh masyarakat Tionghoa di Kecamatan Singkawang Utara. Penelitian menggunakan metode Snowball sampling dengan responden berjumlah 11 orang yang merupakan masyarakat etnis Tionghoa suku Hakka yang memiliki pengetahuan dan pengalaman tentang tumbuhan obat yang dimanfaatkan. Informasi berupa data dari responden diperoleh melalui wawancara semi terstruktur. Tahap pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode observasi langsung (Participant observation). Penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil sebanyak 41 jenis tumbuhan yang dimanfaatkan sebagai obat yang termasuk ke dalam 26 famili. Famili yang paling banyak dimanfaatkan yaitu Asteraceae dan Lamiaceae masing-masing 4 jenis. Cara pengolahan tumbuhan obat yang paling banyak dilakukan yaitu dengan cara direbus (50%), sedangkan untuk cara penggunaan yang paling banyak digunakan yaitu dengan cara diminum (66,07%). FS dengan nilai tertinggi (90,91%) pada tumbuhan daun perilla/matcho (Perilla frutescens), UVs dengan nilai tertinggi 0,55 pada tumbuhan baru cina/thai nye (Artemisia vulgaris) dan daun perilla/matcho (Perilla frutescens), dan PPV dengan nilai tertinggi pada bagian daun (48,89%).
