Abstract

The quality of education and the competitiveness of college graduates in Indonesia is still far behind, both at the international level, even at the level of ASEAN. In the other side, the issue of demographic bonus in Indonesia become an important factor in the development of human resources. The Indonesian population increased continuously about 1.49% per year. The impact of the quality of education is the nation’s competitiveness. Before analyzing its aspects, the data about the nation’s competitiveness can be used as a reference. Although not entirely represent competitiveness, this data can function as an  indicator of progress. Good human resources will be the driving factor for a variety of activities a state and a nation can make, including the economy. In the development of competitiveness, a country is positioned in its change of factor-driven to innovation-driven. The important problems arousing in education are: the quality of school management, quality of research and training, the quality of the education system, and also the higher education participation rate is still low. These four main things that need to be improved in education before it can move to other sectors. The main problem on education in Indonesia is in the low focus on the development of mentality or character. While the analysis of competitiveness problems Indonesia is known that the root problem in competitiveness is the high level of corruption in the country. This is a problem of mentality.

Abstract

This article examines the characteristics of school effectiveness and how the school effectiveness policy works in the context of education decentralization. The research approach is qualitative exploratory and was conducted in 2016 in 10 out of 35 districts/cities in Central Java Province. The results showed that there are eight characteristics of effective schools: effective school leadership, efficient learning processes, active community participation, a conducive school environment, increased professionalism of educators, heightened expectations of students, the commitment of teachers, which together lead to good student achievement. Local government policy has not been mentioned explicitly to build an effective school. The government system should contribute to creating effective schools through human resource development, community participation, provision of facilities and infrastructure, professional development of educators, guiding students’ and teachers' achievement, monitoring student progress, education financing to some degree, and the commitment of local governments to give appreciation to education actors.

Abstract

There are limited studies on the diagnosis of heat and temperature misconceptions using a four-tier instrument diagnostic test. Therefore, this study aims to identify misconceptions in heat and temperature material. The survey research was conducted on 164 students at SMAN 2 Bantul. Students were selected using a convenience sampling technique. Identification of student misconceptions using the Four Tier Heat and Temperature Diagnostic Test (4T-HTDT). Students' conceptual understanding is calculated using the percentage technique. The results of this study indicate that there are still many students who have misconceptions on the concept of "heat-temperature as an extensive quantity" and "heat-temperature depends on material objects". The findings are expected to be a strategic step for designing appropriate remedial teaching.

Abstract

This study was to determine the use of learning media using augmented reality technology which is applied to senior high school students. The research method used in this research is quasi-experimental with the research design using treatment before and after the use of the learning media. Quasiexperimental as an experiment that has treatment, impact measurement, experimental unit, but does not use random assignment to create comparisons in order to conclude changes caused by treatment. The results of the research conducted for the results of the pre-test or before the students received treatment were 69,2%, while the results of the post-test or after the students received treatment were 91%. Then for the average value of the combination of the two tests can be said to be good with the use of learning media using Augmented Reality technology, which is 80,1%. From these results it can be concluded that the application of learning media using Augmented Reality technology provides changes to student learning outcomes in terms of understanding the concept of physics, thus the application of learning media with Augmented Reality technology is successfully applied to high school students for physics subjects. Keywords: augmented reality, learning media, technologyDOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpf.v9.n2.202109

Abstract

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research and research design used is pretest post-test control group design. This study aims to determine the outcomes of learning physics by learners who taught conventionally, to determine the outcomes of learning physics by learners who the taught cooperative learning model type pair checks and to determine significant difference between the result of physics learning by learners who taught in a conventional and are taught by cooperative learning model type pair checks. The sample of this study were 48 students, consist of 24 students in the experimental class and 24 students in the control class. The average value of the experimental class students is 84.58. For the average value of the control, class students are 80.33.The results of the analysis carried out by using the t-test obtained t value of 4.2 with Sig. (2-tailed) of 0,000 with a significant level of 5%. Therefore the value of Sig. (2-tailed) <0.05, it can be said that there are significant differences in physics learning outcomes between the control class and the experimental class that use the cooperative learning model type pair checks. Abstract

There is limited literature reporting on the use of the Rasch model in analyzing the conceptual understanding of student temperature in Indonesia. There are 58% of Physics Education undergraduate students experience misconceptions on the topic of temperature. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students’ conceptual understanding using a two-level diagnostic instrument. Students’ conceptual understanding was administered through a survey method using a two-level misconception diagnostic instrument. The survey was conducted on 26 students (31% boys and 69% girls) ages ranging from 16 years to 19 years at a public high school. Students’ conceptual understanding of the temperature material was administered using six diagnostic items and analyzed using the Wright map. Data collection has been done online using a Google form distributed through the class WhatsApp group. Data analysis has been carried out in two stages namely, coding students’ answers, and analyzing students’ conceptual understanding. The analysis results showed a shift in the level of conceptual understanding of 50% of students. So, the Wright map provides a visualization of shifts in the level of students’ conceptual understanding of the topic of temperature.
