Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of four skills that students must have in the 21st century. However, several research results show that students' critical thinking skills in Indonesia are still very low. This research aims to test the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Flipped Classroom (PBFC) model assisted by e-Modules in improving the critical thinking skills of prospective physics teachers. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The research was conducted at the Physics Education Study Program at the University of Mataram. The research subjects consisted of 52 prospective physics teachers who were studying Basic Physics I. Data was collected using a critical thinking skills test given before and after treatment. The results of data analysis show that the average score of critical thinking skills of prospective physics teachers in the experimental class and control class both increased to the moderate category with N-Gain scores of 0.63 and 0.48 respectively. Based on the results of the t-test at the 95% confidence level with the degree of freedom dk= 52 it shows that there is a significant difference in the increase in Critical Thinking Skills between the experimental class and the control class with a value of tcount= 2.21 with a value of ttable = 2.01 . Apart from that, based on the results of the effect size calculation, it shows that the effectiveness of the E-Module assisted PBFC model in improving students' critical thinking skills relative to the conventional model is different in the large category. In other words, the PBFC model assisted by e-modules can be used as an alternative learning in the classroom to improve the critical thinking skills of prospective physics teachers or students in general.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on students' creativity in the topic of heat at SMAN 2 Praya. The study reveals that students' creativity in this topic is still low, caused by a lack of interest in lecture-based learning or other conventional methods. The PBL model, which integrates real-life problems, is expected to help students develop thinking skills and construct their knowledge independently. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. The population consists of Phase F, 11th-grade students at SMAN 2 Praya. The sample was selected using purposive sampling, with class F1-1 designated as the control group and class F1-2 as the experimental group. The data collection instrument was an essay test, tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination power. Data analysis was performed through normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing using the ANOVA test. The results indicate a significance value of 0.00, suggesting that the PBL model has a significant effect on improving students' creativity. This conclusion supports the implementation of PBL as an effective learning method to enhance students' creativity in the topic of heat.

Abstract

Blurred image due to lens defocus can be simulated mathematically as a convolution result between sharp image and Point Spread Function of blur (unfocus) lens. Image sharpening is the opposite of image blurring which can be done by deconvolution. This research was conducted to simulate digital image sharpening using the Blind deconvolution method. The Point Spread Function of the lens effect is used as the deconvolution Kernel function. This Point Spread Function is modeled mathematically with the Gaussian function approach. Convolution results between digital images from photos of an object are convoluted with the point spread function to produce a blurry image. The blurry image is then sharpened using the Blind convolution method. The slight difference between the deconvolution result image and the original object photo image indicates that the program is running well. Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) is used to determine image sharpening recovery. Optimal sharpening recovery from deconvolution iterations is obtained at the maximum PSNR value

Abstract

This research aims to examine the relationship between cognitive style and creativity of prospective physics teachers in terms of two domains of creativity, namely personality and product. This research is quantitative and descriptive. The population of this study was 60 prospective physics teachers who were studying at Mataram University, Indonesia with a sample size of 40 people selected using the Simple Random Sampling technique. The instruments used in this research consisted of the standard Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) instrument, the Creative Personality test instrument, and the product creativity observation sheet. GEFT is used to identify differences in the cognitive styles of prospective physics teachers. The Creative Personality test instrument is used to determine the creativity of prospective physics teachers in terms of the aspects of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Meanwhile, the observation sheet is used to assess the creativity of prospective teachers in producing products in the form of learning media in terms of novelty, utility, aesthetics, and authenticity. The results of the data analysis show that there is a relationship between cognitive thinking and the creativity of prospective physics teachers. Prospective physics teachers who have the FI cognitive style tend to have a better Creative Personality compared to FD (FI=1.94 > FD=1.44). However, on the contrary, the creativity of products carried out collaboratively shows that the FD group tends to get a better creative score (FI=3.01 < FD=3.41).
