Abstract

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), bakteri yang resisten terhadap antibiotik b-laktam seperti methicillin, merupakan masalah klinis yang terus-menerus mempengaruhi seluruh dunia. Resistensi terjadi akibat adanya modifikasi struktural protein pengikat penisilin (PBP)2a bakteri MRSA. Flavonoid adalah salah satu senyawa aktif terpenting yang secara alami terdapat pada tanaman. Beberapa flavonoid telah terbukti memiliki sifat antibakteri pada penelitian sebelumnya. Penambatan molekul (Molecular Docking) merupakan salah satu metode in silico (virtual) berbasis struktur yang paling sering digunakan dan paling sederhana. Tujuan dari review jurnal untuk mengetahui senyawa turunan flavonoid pada tanaman obat yang berpotensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai pengobatan antibakteri terhadap  bakteri MRSA berdasarkan dari beberapa studi secara in-silico. Metode pencarian jurnal dilakukan melalui website https://scholar.google.co.id/ dan Pubmed dengan menggunakan kata kunci Molecular Docking Flavonoid Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil yang didapat adalah dari 31 senyawa aktif turunan flavonoid  yang berpotensi menghambat reseptor PBP2a bakteri MRSA. Pada PDB ID IMWT didapatkan senyawa terbaik Diferulic acid memiliki nilai binding affinity sebesar  -102.4,  pada PDB ID 1VQQ didapatkan senyawa terbaik Hesperidin memiliki nilai binding affinity sebesar -9.2 dan pada PDB ID 4DKI didapatkan senyawa terbaik Quercetin 3-O-rutinoside  memiliki nilai binding affinity sebesar -91.56. Kata kunci : Molecular Docking , Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Flavonoid.

Abstract

Curcuminoids such as curcumin, demethoxycurcumin (DMC), and bisdemethoxycurcumin (BDMC) are the major bioactive components found in Curcuma species, including turmeric (Curcuma longa L.). Curcumin is a polyphenol that is used as an antioxidant. Various analytical methods have been developed for the detection of curcumin, each with its advantages and limitations. Selection of an appropriate analytical method is crucial for obtaining accurate results. Although critical reviews on the chemical, biological, and pharmacological properties of curcumin are widely available, reviews specifically focusing on the different analytical methods for curcumin are limited. This review article aims to provide an overview of several analytical methods for the determination of curcumin. This is expected to encourage readers to choose a suitable analytical method for their specific needs. The articles used in this review were sourced from international English-language publications obtained from Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar. The search was performed using keywords such as "Instrumental analysis of curcumin" and "Analytical techniques for curcumin analysis." The results reveal that spectrophotometric methods are simple techniques used to estimate curcumin content; however, their utility is limited to cases where the concentration of each curcuminoid is not a critical quality parameter. Accurate quantification and detection of trace amounts of curcuminoids and metabolites require the use of chromatographic separation methods combined with mass spectrometry detection (LC-MS/MS) because of their high accuracy, reproducibility, and sensitivity with low limits of detection (LOD) and lower limits of quantification (LLOQ). Abstract

Hair loss, or alopecia, is a common dermatological condition that affects up to 2% of the world's population. It is often caused by genetic factors, such as male or female pattern baldness, but can also be attributed to various environmental factors, an imbalanced diet, or chronic illnesses. While hair loss is not life-threatening, it can lead to significant anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues, ultimately affecting one's quality of life. Various treatments for baldness, including synthetic drugs like minoxidil and finasteride, or herbal remedies, have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Although synthetic drugs are effective, they may come with potential side effects. Natural remedies have been proposed as a viable option for treating baldness because many chronic disorders can lead to alopecia. Therefore, this review focuses on identifying efficient alternative treatment agents with limited side effects. Specifically, it considers medicinal plants as potential healing agents for treating baldness. To gather relevant information for this study, several databases were searched, including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Comprehensive searches were conducted using various search terms, such as "baldness," "alopecia," "natural remedies for baldness," "herbal treatment for baldness," and others, to extract relevant scientific articles. Many medicinal plants and natural compounds have shown potential for reducing baldness, thanks to their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Abstract

Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) telah muncul sebagai teknologi penting dalam bidang farmasi karena kemampuannya yang unik dalam mengenali dan mengikat molekul target dengan spesifisitas tinggi. Teknologi ini menjanjikan kemajuan signifikan dalam pengembangan sistem penghantaran obat yang lebih efisien, pemurnian protein, dan diagnostik, yang semuanya dapat memberikan dampak substansial pada pengelolaan dan terapi penyakit. Tinjauan literatur ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki perkembangan terbaru dalam teknologi MIP dengan fokus khusus pada aplikasi farmasi, mengevaluasi strategi sintesis, keberhasilan aplikasi terkini, dan mengidentifikasi hambatan yang masih harus diatasi. Dalam konteks penghantaran obat, MIPs menunjukkan kemampuan untuk meningkatkan efikasi terapeutik sambil meminimalkan efek samping dengan mengontrol pelepasan obat di lokasi yang ditargetkan. Studi kasus dalam penghantaran obat menunjukkan MIPs dapat meningkatkan efikasi terapeutik dan mengurangi efek samping dengan mengontrol pelepasan obat di lokasi yang ditargetkan. Dalam pemurnian protein, MIPs berhasil mengisolasi protein spesifik dari campuran kompleks dengan efisiensi tinggi dan biaya lebih rendah dibandingkan metode konvensional. Meskipun banyak kemajuan, tantangan seperti skalabilitas produksi, biokompatibilitas, dan stabilitas masih perlu diatasi. Tinjauan ini merekomendasikan arah penelitian masa depan yang dapat memajukan pemanfaatan MIPs dalam sains farmasi, termasuk pengembangan metode sintesis yang lebih efisien dan pengujian klinis lebih lanjut untuk membuktikan efikasi dan keamanan MIPs.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical warehouses play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and integrity of medicines within the pharmaceutical supply chain. Proper storage and effective management of these facilities are key to ensuring the effectiveness, safety, and availability of medicines. However, managing pharmaceutical warehouses poses several challenges, such as inventory control, maintaining optimal storage conditions, and detecting genotoxic contaminants, which can impact the quality and availability of medicines. Literature search was conducted across several databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, using keywords such as "Pharmaceutical Warehouse Management", "Pharmaceutical Warehouses", and "Pharmaceutical Warehouse Operations". The literature review findings suggest that technology integration, such as the adoption of blockchain technology, barcode scanning, and RFID technology, holds the potential to enhance operational efficiency and medicine quality in pharmaceutical warehouses. Nevertheless, challenges such as system integration, data security, and the need for staff training also need to be addressed in adopting these technologies. Future research should explore strategies to overcome these challenges and the impact of technology adoption on the overall efficiency and effectiveness of pharmaceutical supply chain management

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that are capable of neutralizing free radicals. One plant with potential antioxidant properties is Peperomia pellucida. Objective: This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity, total phenolic content, and total flavonoid content of extracts of the leaves and stems of Peperomia pellucida. Methods: Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method, while the total phenolic and flavonoid contents were measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Extraction was performed via reflux using three different solvents: n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. Results: The highest antioxidant activity was found in the ethanol extract of the leaves, with an IC50 value of 36.85 µg/mL, and in the stems, with an IC50 value of 71.28 µg/mL. The highest total phenolic content in the ethanol extract of the leaves was 14.46 mg GAE/g and that in the stems was 12.82 mg GAE/g. The highest total flavonoid content in the ethanol extract of the leaves was 12.12 mg QE/g and that in the stems was 10.49 mg QE/g. Conclusion: The results indicated that the ethanol extract of Peperomia pellucida leaves exhibited very strong antioxidant activity. Keywords: antioxidants, DPPH, phenolic, flavonoids, suruhan Plants

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the third highest developing countries in ASEAN with maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR). One of the three main causes of pregnancy-related maternal deaths is hypertension during pregnancy. It is very important to get rational antihypertensive therapy immediately in order to maintain normal blood pressure. This study aims to determine the profile of the use and rational use of antihypertensive drugs in preeclampsia and eclampsia patients in the Inpatient Room of Bandung Regency Hospital. The study was conducted observational with retrospective data collection. Samples were taken by random sampling which met the inclusion criteria for the period January-December 2021. The rationality of antihypertensive drug use is based on the 2019 American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists and PIONAS guidelines. There were 78 medical records that met the criteria. The characteristics of the majority of patients aged 21-35 years (64%) with a gestational age of 28-40 weeks (97%) and the antihypertensive drug therapy that was widely used was nifedipine (56%). The percentage of rational use of antihypertensive drugs showed the right indication (100%), the right drug (95%), the right dose (100%), and the right frequency (100%).

Abstract

Penyakit HIV/AIDS telah menjadi pandemi global yang mengkhawatirkan, termasuk di Indonesia. Salah satu cara utama penularannya adalah melalui penggunaan jarum suntik pada pengguna narkoba, perilaku yang umum terjadi di kalangan remaja. Kurangnya pengetahuan remaja tentang HIV/AIDS menjadi pemicu utama perilaku berisiko terhadap penyakit ini. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan di SMK Bhakti Kencana Soreang dan Cimahi dengan tujuan memberikan edukasi tentang pencegahan HIV/AIDS kepada siswa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan secara hibrid di dua lokasi sekolah. Kepala sekolah turut serta sebagai mitra, memberikan informasi awal untuk persiapan program edukasi sesuai kebutuhan mitra. Evaluasi keberhasilan kegiatan dilakukan melalui pretest dan post-test terkait pengetahuan dan sikap siswa terhadap HIV/AIDS. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan siswa sebesar 18,7%, mengindikasikan dampak positif dari kegiatan ini dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan sikap siswa terhadap pencegahan HIV/AIDS.Hasil kegiatan ini dipublikasikan melalui media massa, video YouTube, dan buku saku remaja bebas HIV/AIDS, dengan harapan memberikan dampak yang signifikan dalam pencegahan penularan HIV/AIDS di kalangan remaja.

Abstract

Cyclodextrin inclusion complexes have been widely used in the pharmaceutical industry to improve drug solubility and bioavailability. Analysis of these complexes using HPLC requires the development of appropriate and validated methods. To analyze and compare various HPLC methods used for the analysis of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes, and to identify challenges and trends in method development. A literature review was conducted of articles published in the last 10 years, focusing on HPLC methods for the analysis of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes. Parameters compared included column type, mobile phase composition, flow rate, and detection method. The majority of studies used C18 columns with varying lengths and particle sizes. The composition of the mobile phase varied, reflecting the diversity of properties of the complexes analyzed. The flow rate was generally 1.0 mL/min, with the exception of the HPLC/MS method. Detection methods included UV-Vis, PDA, fluorescence, and mass spectrometry. The main challenges included the dynamic equilibrium of the complexes and stability during analysis HPLC method development for the analysis of cyclodextrin inclusion complexes requires optimization of various parameters to overcome specific challenges. Future trends are towards the use of advanced technologies such as UHPLC and high-resolution mass detection.
