Abstract

Bullying in multicultural elementary schools in Jambi Province has shown a significant increase, posing serious risks to children’s psychosocial development. This study aims to explore the experiences of teachers, counselors, and students in addressing bullying, identify intercultural values relevant to counseling practices, and construct a conceptual framework for an intercultural counseling module grounded in Jambi’s local wisdom. A qualitative Grounded Theory approach was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and focus group discussions. Data were analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding, and validated through source triangulation and expert review. The findings indicate that bullying is influenced by individual factors, socio-cultural dynamics, and school environmental conditions. The analysis resulted in a conceptual model of an intercultural counseling module integrating cross-cultural empathy, local wisdom, and preventive and curative strategies. The study contributes a culturally grounded and practice-oriented framework to advance intercultural guidance and counseling in multicultural elementary school settings

Abstract

Digitalization has a very broad influence on human life, one of which is the internet as a form of mass communication and the widespread use of the internet has an impact on human life, especially juveniles. Therefore, appropriate ethics are needed in its use. The aim of this trial is to provide assistance in increasing understanding of ethics in digitalization for students in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program. This service is carried out through 4 stages, namely; the foundation laying or building foundation phase, the research planning phase, the data collection and analysis phase, and the follow-up phase on research results. The result of this service is that students can increase their understanding of digitalization ethics. Based on these results, it can be concluded that one way to increase students' understanding of ethics in digitalization is by providing appropriate assistance, namely by integrating cultural values into its implementation. So it can be recommended for future researchers to continue the results of this service in the form of providing actions or interventions that can be practiced directly by students.

Abstract

The presence of a parent figure in a child's mental growth is very important. Dysfunctional family relationships due to the breakup of husband-wife relationships can cause a family atmosphere that is divided by poor family interactions and can affect child development. One aspect that is important to consider and can affect children is self esteem. This study aims to identify the condition of children's self esteem who have divorced parents in the aspects of self-esteem, feelings of ability and feelings of acceptance by the surrounding environment. This research is a type of qualitative research that uses descriptive analytical methods and focuses on 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Jambi City who experience family and self problems based on the results of the General AUM and Learner Needs Questionnaire. The informants of this study amounted to 10 children using purposive sampling technique which is a sampling method from specific criteria in determining informants. Through the results of the study, it was found that children who were victims of divorce at SMP Negeri 9 Jambi City had very good feelings of worth and feelings of self-respect. Children are able to recognize themselves and make principles that are applied in everyday life as a form of self-esteem. Although the conditions they experience at this adolescent age are quite heavy, they have dreams and goals that they believe they can achieve. This is also supported by the acceptance of themselves by their friends and extended family. Most children are very reconciled with all the circumstances that befall them. Some of the children also felt unaccepted by their environment. However, the children still had good self-esteem and confidence.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-concept and premarital sexual behavior among adolescents in Maro Sebo District. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The participants consisted of 48 adolescents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using closed-ended questionnaires to measure self-concept and premarital sexual behavior. Prior to hypothesis testing, the data were examined through normality and linearity tests as prerequisites for statistical analysis. The data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results showed that the correlation coefficient between self-concept and premarital sexual behavior was r = –0.013 with a significance value of p = 0.931, indicating no significant relationship between the two variables. Although the negative correlation suggests that a more positive self-concept tends to be associated with lower premarital sexual behavior, the relationship was extremely weak and not statistically significant. These findings indicate that self-concept is not a dominant factor directly influencing premarital sexual behavior among adolescents. Therefore, premarital sexual behavior should be understood as a multidimensional phenomenon influenced by various internal and external factors. This study is expected to provide a reference for developing more comprehensive adolescent guidance and intervention programs involving families, schools, and the social environment.
