Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of ethnomathematics-based STEAM learning and its impact on numeracy literacy skills and the Pancasila Student Profile of students at SDN Karangnangka II. The research aims to integrate local cultural values into mathematics education and assess its effectiveness in enhancing students’ numeracy literacy. A mixed-method approach with a sequential exploratory design was used. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and tests. Ethnomathematics elements were identified within Asta Tinggi Sumenep, including its main gate, tomb dome, and landmark, which incorporate various geometric shapes. The learning process followed the steps: Observe, New Idea, Innovation, Creativity, and Society, integrating six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. The implementation of ethnomathematics-based STEAM learning significantly improved students’ numeracy literacy. Pre-test and post-test results showed an increase in average scores from 48.00 to 81.00. Normality tests (Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk) indicated that data were normally distributed (? 0.05). A paired-sample t-test revealed a significant effect (? = 0.001 0.05), confirming the positive impact of this learning model. The findings highlight the effectiveness of integrating local cultural elements into STEAM education. The approach fosters both numeracy literacy and the development of Pancasila Student Profile competencies, aligning education with cultural heritage. Ethnomathematics-based STEAM learning enhances students’ numeracy literacy and character development. Future research should explore its scalability and long-term benefits in broader educational contexts.

Abstract

The increasing emphasis on student autonomy in 21st-century education necessitates effective collaboration between schools and families. In elementary education, however, fragmented communication between teachers and parents often hinders the development of student independence. This study investigates the impact of teacher–parent collaboration via WhatsApp on student independence through the Parenting Insight Program. A correlational quantitative approach with an explanatory design was used. Data were collected from 30 fifth-grade students, their teachers, and parents in an elementary school in Sumenep, Indonesia. Instruments were based on validated theoretical constructs. Pearson correlation analysis assessed the relationship between collaboration indicators and student independence. The analysis revealed significant positive correlations between teacher–parent communication, joint problem-solving, and parental involvement with students’ responsibility, initiative, and decision-making (r = 0.72–0.85, p 0.01). Furthermore, religiosity was negatively correlated with aggressiveness (r = –0.71, p = 0.001), suggesting that internalized spiritual values may support emotional self-regulation and reduce behavioral issues. The findings highlight WhatsApp's potential as a low-cost, culturally adaptive tool for enhancing home–school collaboration. The Parenting Insight Program offers a structured model that integrates digital communication into character education. Teacher–parent collaboration via accessible technology like WhatsApp can foster student independence and personal development. The Parenting Insight Program exemplifies how ethical, systematized digital engagement can strengthen educational outcomes and inform school–family partnership strategies.

Abstract

Creativity is an important aspect in the development of elementary school children that can be developed through collaborative learning. This study aims to analyze teachers' efforts in fostering creativity in grade IV students at SDN Paberasan II through collaborative recycling activities. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with a case study design, where this approach was chosen to explore in depth the strategies and roles of teachers in fostering student creativity through collaborative activities that utilize recycled materials. This study also provides an overview and explanation of social phenomena in the school environment related to student creativity. The study results indicate that recycling activities designed and facilitated by teachers can encourage students to think creatively, develop ideas, and create innovative recycled products from used goods. In addition, this activity encourages cooperation between students in planning, making, and presenting works. Teachers play an active role as facilitators and motivators in creating a learning environment that supports creativity. The conclusion of this study shows that collaborative recycling activities are effective in increasing student creativity and fostering awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and honing problem-solving skills. Providing appreciation for students' work through school exhibition activities also provides intrinsic motivation that strengthens students' enthusiasm for learning and self-confidence.

Abstract

The critical thinking ability of elementary school students is still relatively low, especially in Pancasila Education subjects which tend to be theoretical and do not actively involve students. The researcher conducted this study with the aim of finding out how the Special Box learning media can be applied to improve the critical thinking ability of grade VI students at SDN Daramista II. This study used a mixed method with a sequential exploratory approach, which combines qualitative data through observation, interview, and documentation techniques, as well as quantitative data obtained from questionnaires and critical thinking ability tests. Based on the results of the study, the use of the Special Box media designed with the Contextual Teaching and Learning and Discovery Learning approaches has been proven to be able to significantly increase student participation and encourage their cognitive involvement. Students showed enthusiasm, courage in answering challenges, and the ability to link Pancasila values to real life. Quantitative findings support these results with the majority of students giving a "Strongly Agree" response to the effectiveness of the media in fostering critical thinking. The implications of this study indicate that Special Box can be an effective and innovative learning strategy to improve the quality of Pancasila learning, support character development, foster critical thinking and be relevant to the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum which emphasizes 21st century skills.
