Abstract

Islamic paternal parenting has socially patterned the man dominant language behavior over woman since childhood. This study explores the dominance distributions of high female and low female status in their informal talk strategy, the actual language use,  among the students of The State Islamic Institute of Surakarta in three functional topical units of conversations. The analysis technique was introduced by Sinclair and Coulthard (1975), for which Leech (1983) modifies the speech acts. The data implies that the talk strategy among Muslim females is relatively similar to that of males. The higher female controls and initiates the interaction more while the lower is softer, more polite, more mutually supportive, and more cooperative to whomever she speaks to regardless of the status.Muslim Female; Act; Move; Talk Strategy

Abstract

This article discusses the marketing of educational services; The application of marketing mix in building branding image at SMK Bina Mandiri Multimedia includes four main elements, namely product, price, promotion, and distribution. This research is a qualitative study where data is obtained through interviews, documentation and observation of all parties involved in this marketing process consisting of the Foundation, Principal and field marketing personnel who make visits to schools. The results showed that in terms of products, SMK Bina Mandiri Multimedia needs to present quality education programs that are relevant to the needs of the multimedia industry. This may include developing an up-to-date curriculum, upgrading facilities and equipment, and ensuring optimal teaching and learning quality. Pricing should consider the added value offered by SMK Bina Mandiri Multimedia. Fair and competitive pricing can attract prospective students and illustrate the quality of education offered by the school. Promotion should be done effectively to introduce and strengthen the brand image of SMK Bina Mandiri Multimedia. Marketing strategies such as advertising, promotional activities, and social media utilization can be used to increase visibility and attract prospective students and parents. Distribution relates to the way SMK Bina Mandiri Multimedia conveys information regarding their educational programs. This may involve cooperation with other educational institutions, participation in education fairs, or utilization of online platforms to connect with potential students. In general, the strategy carried out by SMK Bina Mandiri Multi Media has been quite successful, which can be seen from the SMK Bina Mandiri Multi Media brand which is already quite well known in this area with the number of registrations reaching more than 250 each year. However, in anticipation of increasingly fierce competition, the marketing strategy must always adjust to the changing characteristics of consumers.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the implementation of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK) with an integration-interconnection approach at the University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) and its contribution to SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 16 (peace and justice), and SDG 17 (global partnership). Theoretical framework:  The theoretical framework is based on KH Ahmad Dahlan's thoughts on modern Islamic education, the concept of integration-interconnection of knowledge, contextual curriculum theory, the warning of "normal science", and the AIK policy as a compulsory course in PTM. Literature review: AIK is seen as a praxis of educational values that shape Islamic character, although it still faces a dichotomy of science. Integration-interconnection is believed to make AIK more transformative, in accordance with the ideas of Brady and Kuhn. The relevance of AIK is increasingly evident in the context of SDGs 4, 16, and 17. Methods: The research uses a descriptive-qualitative method based on literature studies with primary data (Muhammadiyah policy, AIK curriculum, learning practices) and secondary data (academic literature). The analysis follows the Miles & Huberman model, with validity maintained through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Results: The results of the study show that the application of AIK based on integration-interconnection in UMS can produce learning that is not only a transfer of knowledge, but also a transfer of values. AIK directs students to a comprehensive understanding that includes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This model is relevant to Muhammadiyah's vision of modern Islamic education that progresses and supports the achievement of SDG 4 (quality education), SDG 16 (peace and justice), and SDG 17 (global partnership). Implications: It is necessary to reconstruct the AIK curriculum to be transformative and contextual, to strengthen the identity of PT Muhammadiyah, improve the quality of education, foster student character, and support sustainable development.  Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the association of AIK based on integration-interconnection in UMS with the achievement of the SDGs, so that AIK is positioned not only as a typical Islamic course of Muhammadiyah, but also as a strategic instrument for inclusive and sustainable global education development.

Abstract

Objective: This study explores the leadership transformation of Islamic higher education institutions (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Swasta/PTKIS), focusing on the Mamba'ul 'Ulum Islamic Institute Indonesia (IIMU) from 2020 to 2025. Theoretical framework: Anchored in the theory of democratic leadership in Islamic education, the study emphasizes participation, authority distribution, and inclusivity as key pillars for organizational transformation. Literature review: A literature review highlights the relevance of transformational, participatory, structural, and cultural dimensions in shaping effective leadership in Islamic educational settings. Methods: The research employs a qualitative case study method, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The participants include institutional leaders, lecturers, and staff across different departments at IIMU. Results: Findings reveal that although IIMU adopts a democratic leadership style in principle, the actual involvement of subordinates in strategic decision-making and program implementation remains minimal. Structural hierarchies, centralized decision-making practices, and entrenched work cultures present significant barriers. Nonetheless, where subordinate engagement is enhanced, there is a notable improvement in managerial efficiency and the overall quality of educational programs. In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all, this study underlines the importance of collaborative governance in Islamic education. Implications: It suggests that strengthening participatory leadership could support institutional innovation, accountability, and inclusive development. Furthermore, promoting internal dialogue and professional empowerment aligns with SDG 16, which calls for effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions. Novelty: The study’s novelty lies in its contribution to the discourse on democratic values in Islamic education leadership, particularly in PTKIS transformation. It highlights how empowering subordinates can enhance educational service delivery and institutional sustainability. These insights are vital for stakeholders aiming to align Islamic higher education with national education reforms and global development agendas such as the SDGs.
