Abstract

Introduction: Patient safety has become a global issue that is currently being discussed in all countries. Concerns about patient safety have increased significantly over the last decade. The implementation of supervision is very important in order to improve the implementation of patient safety goals. The purpose of this research is to analyze the implementation of supervision regarding patient safety in patients with a diagnosis of Inguinal Hernia in the Inpatient Room. Method: Used a survey method with a supervision questionnaire for patient safety and a supervision effectiveness questionnaire for patient safety. Results: The results showed that supervision of patient safety in patients with a diagnosis of Inguinal Hernia has been carried out in the Hospital Inpatient Room. Implementation of this supervision is effective to do in order to increase the motivation of nurses in implementing patient safety goals. But the implementation of supervision about patient safety is still not optimally implemented because there are several obstacles such as the patient safety program has not become a priority agenda, there is no driving force, it is carried out under forced conditions such as only because of demands from superiors, there are obstacles due to a lack of understanding of the implementation of patient safety programs, there is no sense of awareness in towards patient safety culture, and non-optimal incident reporting. Conclusion: These results can be a reference for hospitals about the attitude of nurses in monitoring patient safety and should improve existing nursing training by allowing nurses to continue their education to a higher level, by holding regular training on patient safety practices.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Prevention of dermatitis is significant for the community, especially for farmers who have a high risk of developing this disease. The symptoms of dermatitis of farmers who work in the fields are affected by a decrease in his personal hygiene level. Personal hygiene is included in the occurrence of dermatitis in farmers who work in the areas. Method: This research is non-experimental quantitative research with an analytic survey design through a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used in this research is cluster sampling. Respondents are rice farmers who work directly in the fields, obtained as many as 110 respondents in five regions in East Java. Results: The respondents' criteria are that they have worked for at least one year, are farm laborers (working farmers), and are willing to be respondents. The results of the Chi-Square statistical test show that the value of p = 0.044 indicates a value of p <0.05. These results mean that there is a relationship between personal hygiene and the occurrence of contact dermatitis in farmers. Conclusion: The incidence of this dermatitis can cause a decrease in activity in farmers, so it can affect the mechanism of work patterns in farmers.

Abstract

Background: Anxiety is a common response experienced by patients when receiving treatment in the hospital, often triggered by unfamiliar environments, interactions with medical personnel, and uncertainty about the results of treatment. This study aims to explore the level of anxiety in patients and the factors that influence it. Methods: This study used a descriptive survey method with a quantitative approach, involving 100 patients who received treatment at Hospital X. Data was collected via the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. Results: The results showed that 60% of patients experienced moderate anxiety, 25% experienced high anxiety, and 15% experienced mild anxiety. The analysis shows a significant positive relationship between length of stay and anxiety level (r = 0.42, p < 0.05) as well as a negative relationship between education level and anxiety (r = -0.35, p < 0.05). Conclusion: The discussion in this study highlights that environmental factors in hospitals and the quality of communication between medical personnel and patients significantly influence patient anxiety levels. These results are consistent with previous research showing the importance of a supportive environment and effective communication in reducing anxiety. Therefore, interventions aimed at improving the hospital environment and communication with patients are highly recommended to reduce anxiety and improve the quality of care.

Abstract

Effective TB treatment involves consistent and timely administration of anti-TB drugs over a sufficiently long period. However, the problem of non-compliance with treatment is common and can result in treatment failure, spread of infection, and drug resistance. This study aims to examine the role of the family as a supervisor in monitoring medication adherence in TB patients. The literature search process in this literature review uses several databases, namely Google Scholar, Science Direct, and PubMed, with the publication year of 2018-2023. The results of this study are expected to provide better insight into the role of the family in supervising medication adherence in TB patients. With a better understanding of the factors influencing family roles, more effective steps can be taken to improve adherence to TB treatment. Our advice as writers is that anyone appointed as a supervisor of swallowing medicine, both nurses and patients' families, must carry out their duties in supervising patients taking medicine. This is because TB is a severe infectious disease, and the way to overcome it is by taking medication regularly and on time. Therefore, the role of drug-swallowing supervisors is needed in this case.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Soil-transmitted Helminths infections have become a frequent phenomenon among farmers due to their lack of hygiene, making it easy for nematode worms to enter the body. Soil-transmitted helminths can affect nutritional status, resulting in anemia, loss of appetite, and damage to the intestines. To overcome this phenomenon, adequate personal hygiene in farmers is needed. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze how personal hygiene can affect the incidence of Soil-Transmitted Helminths infection. Methods: The method used is a literature review using 10 kinds of literature from 3 sources, namely Google Scholar, PubMed, and Science Direct with a publication range from 2020-2024. Result: The results showed that some articles showed an association between personal hygiene and the incidence of soil-transmitted helminths. Good personal hygiene can prevent the entry of nematode worms into the digestive tract of the body. Besides that, some articles also showed no association between personal hygiene and soil-transmitted helminth infection. Conclusion: Adequate personal hygiene such as always using gloves and complete personal protective equipment while working, always washing hands before eating, and maintaining environmental hygiene is needed by farmers to avoid the incidence of soil-transmitted helminth infection.

Abstract

Background: In Indonesia the impact of noise that causes hearing loss is still high compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. Noise can cause hearing loss in workers if the scale of the noise is high and occurs continuously. It can also trigger a decline in health that will have an impact on the performance of workers. Objective: to Analysis of PPE Compliance in Preventing Hearing Loss in Agro-Industrial Area. Methods: The research in this study used the literature review method. This search strategy uses several databases such as Pubmed, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar. This search use keywords PPE, Hearing Loss, and Agro-industrial. Results: Increasing noise intensity, duration of work, and duration of exposure can cause hearing loss because the inner hair cells and supporting cells are damaged. The longer the working period, the greater the noise exposure it will receive. The use of PPE can effectively prevent noise-induced hearing loss. Conclusion: Workers exposed to noise are highly susceptible to hearing loss. It depends on the intensity of the noise, the duration of exposure, the sensitivity of the individual or the worker itself and the frequency of the noise. Noise can be prevented, one of which is by using personal protective equipment when working. In this case, nurses can educate related to the use of PPE to prevent hearing loss.

Abstract

One indicator of the effectiveness of HIV/AIDS prevention can be measured by the role of stakeholders involved in the HIV/AIDS prevention program. The obstacles are that there are still unequal perceptions of interest regarding the target group from each stakeholder in developing HIV/AIDS prevention programs and a lack of coordination between internal and external agencies, so there has been no effort to integrate programs between agencies. The purpose of this activity is to optimize the role of stakeholders in HIV AIDS prevention in Jember. This activity was carried out in stages (1) presenting material on "The Role of Stakeholders in HIV AIDS Response" and questions and answers related to the material presented, as well as (2) Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to discuss the implementation of the role of stakeholders in HIV AIDS response. The results of this activity show that stakeholders could understand the national strategy in dealing with HIV AIDS; stakeholders understood their role in HIV AIDS prevention, and stakeholder groups stated that they would help in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Definitive policy recommendations issued by local governments related to stakeholder involvement in HIV AIDS response.
