Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the mathematics learning program at SMK Muhammadiyah Kalasan using the CIPP model (Context, Input, Process, Product). The research subjects consisted of three groups of respondents: educators and policymakers (4 individuals), educational staff (3 individuals), and students (121 individuals). The instrument employed was a questionnaire comprising 30 items. Data were analyzed through score calculation, percentage conversion, and categorization based on evaluation criteria. The findings indicate that the Product component obtained the highest scores across all groups, namely 95.00% (educators), 93.33% (educational staff), and 93.30% (students), reflecting excellent student learning outcomes. However, the Input component, particularly human resources and infrastructure, received lower scores, categorized as good. These results highlight that although learning outcomes are already optimal, further improvements in teacher competence, more systematic instructional planning, and strengthened facilities are still required. Thus, reinforcing the Input and Process components becomes a crucial strategy to ensure the sustainability of mathematics learning quality at SMK Muhammadiyah Kalasan

Abstract

This study aims to identify the current conditions of mathematics learning, the obstacles faced by teachers and students, and students’ perceptions regarding the need for innovative and interactive learning materials. The focus of this research is the development of an Integral e-module based on the STEAM approach as an effort to stimulate students’ creative thinking skills. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through interviews with mathematics teachers and questionnaires distributed to 30 students of class XI MIPA 2 at SMA Muhammadiyah Pakem. The findings reveal that most students experience difficulties in understanding Integral material due to the predominance of lecture-based instruction, unengaging teaching materials, and the limited use of interactive media. A total of 61% of students expressed a preference for e-modules as more favorable learning resources, while teachers acknowledged the importance of developing contextual and activity-based e-modules. The STEAM approach is considered relevant as it connects mathematical concepts with real-life contexts and fosters students’ creativity. Therefore, the development of an interactive STEAM-based e-module is regarded as a pedagogical solution to create mathematics learning that is more engaging, effective, and responsive to the challenges of the 21st century

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the narrative structure, periodization, and methodological principles in A History of Mathematics by Carl B. Boyer and Uta C. Merzbach (third edition, 2011) as a historiographical model in mathematics education. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using the content analysis method. Data were collected through an in-depth reading of all chapters of the book and analyzed based on two main dimensions: internal history (the development of concepts and mathematical rigor) and external history (the social, cultural, and economic influences on the emergence of mathematical ideas). The findings reveal that Boyer and Merzbach construct the historical narrative of mathematics both chronologically and thematically, tracing its evolution from ancient to modern times while emphasizing the continuity of mathematical ideas across civilizations. Merzbach’s approach, which integrates linguistic, social, and economic contexts, demonstrates that the development of mathematics is the result of an interaction between abstract ideas and human practical needs. Furthermore, the principle of “extension without correction” indicates that each new mathematical theory does not negate earlier ones but rather expands and enriches the existing scientific framework. The study concludes that A History of Mathematics possesses significant pedagogical value and is highly relevant as a learning resource for the history of mathematics, as it cultivates a philosophical and historical understanding of mathematics as both a cultural product and an ongoing intellectual process
