Abstract

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, extensive restrictions were imposed on public facilities, including markets. Market traders and visitors were required to adhere with the health protocols government-established. This study's objective is to identify the factors influencing adherence with health protocols among traders. A cross-sectional survey was carried out in traditional and modern market located in Bogor Regency, Indonesia, from March to June 2022. The study encompassed all registered traders belonging to the traditional and modern market association. A total of 240 traders were chosen through a systematic random sampling method based on a hypothesis 2 test of population proportion. Primary data was gathered using a questionnaire and the research data were analyzed using binary logistic regression. In traditional markets, the majority of traders, about 65.0%, did not adhere with the health protocols, whereas in modern markets, approximately 71.7% of traders adhered to the protocols. The determinants of adherence to health protocols were knowledge (p=0.007; OR=3.311; 95% CI=1.395-7.857) in traditional markets and perceived susceptibility (p=0.001; OR=10.377; 95% CI=2.494-43.180) in modern markets. Knowledge and perceived susceptibility are determinant of market traders' adherence with health protocols. Enhanced adherence to health protocols can be achieved by boosting traders' understanding and awareness of COVID-19.

Abstract

The national strategy for accelerating the reduction of stunting in Indonesia reaches 14% in 2024. One of the provinces with stunting prevalence exceeding the national figure is West Java Province (31%). Stunting toddlers experience failure to thrive when their height is less than their age standard. Nutrition and sanitation factors are key indicators as essential criteria that must be achieved at the family level to prevent stunting. This study aimed to examine the relationship between nutrition and sanitation aspects on the incidence of stunting in children under five in Bogor District. The study used a cross-sectional study on 100 childrens aged 0-59 months living in the Bogor district selected by proportional random sampling technique. Stunting was measured using an anthropometric index (body length/height according to age. Measurement of nutrition and sanitation aspects included: 1) Nutrition indicators, namely balanced nutrition practices, quantitative food intake (food frequency questionnaire), 2) sanitation indicators, including personal hygiene practices and availability sanitation facilities. Sociodemographic characteristics were measured using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariate using SPSS version 22.0. The results showed that practicing balanced nutrition was related to stunting in children under five (p = 0.046). Meanwhile, carbohydrate intake, protein intake, and sanitation were not associated with stunting (p=>0.05). Health promotion related to the four principles of balanced nutrition for mothers of children under five is expected to reduce the prevalence of stunting.

Abstract

Preeclampsia and eclampsia have the greatest impact on the morbidity and mortality of pregnant women and newborns. Management of patients with manifestations of preeclampsia requires a well-formulated plan that takes into account maternal risk factors, clinical, laboratory, and imaging (X-ray) findings, and time of onset gestational age, and delivery. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body mass index (BMI), albumin levels, mean arterial pressure (MAP), and food intake on the incidence of preeclampsia. This prospective cohort study was conducted at the Community Health Centers working area of Central Jakarta from October 2021 to May 2022. A sample of 167 pregnant women was selected using consecutive sampling with inclusion criteria of 13-16 weeks gestation and was willing to participate in the research program. Samples who had communication disorders were on routine medication, and had a history of other diseases, except for hypertension, were excluded from the study. Data processing uses the SPSS 22.0 program with independent t-test and chi-square test analysis. The results showed that 8.4% of pregnant women with preeclampsia were positive, there was a significant relationship between age (p = 0.042; RR = 2.99; 95% CI: 1.00-9.16); spacing of pregnancies (p= 0.008; RR= 3.97; 95% CI: 1.46-10.78); maternal history of hypertension (p= 0.002; RR= 5.18; 95% CI: 1.98-13.59); BMI in early pregnancy (p= 0.001; RR= 6.02; 95% CI: 1.98-18.28); albumin level (p= 0.001; RR= 13.48; 95% CI: 1.80-100.69); MAP (p< 0.001; RR= 10.93; 95%CI: 4.47-26.70); animal protein intake (p= 0.024; RR= 3.13; 95%CI: 1.10-8.91); and vegetable intake (p= 0.038; RR= 2.79; 95%CI: 1.02-7.64) with preeclampsia. Preventing the occurrence of preeclampsia can be done by early examination of albumin levels and maintaining food intake.

Abstract

Food consumption behavior and home sanitation can be important predictors in the early implementation of stunting detection in toddlers. Stunting is a condition in which a child's physical growth and development are chronically stunted due to malnutrition and inadequate care. This study aims to determine food consumption behavior and home sanitation as predictors in the initial application of stunting detection. This study used a cross-sectional study on 245 children aged 0-59 months who lived in Bogor Regency who were selected using a proportional random sampling technique. Stunting is measured using an anthropometric index (length/height for age). Measuring food consumption using quantitative food intake (food frequency questionnaire) and home sanitation includes indicators of a healthy home, namely cleanliness of floors, walls, ceilings, roof height, function of living rooms, and kitchen space. Sociodemographic characteristics were measured using a structured questionnaire. The prevalence of stunting children under five is 20.4% and the dominant factor for stunting is age (p-value <0.001; AOR=0.254; 95% CI=0.120-0.541). Food consumption and home sanitation are not related to stunting (p-value >0.05). Through a comprehensive approach to food consumption behavior and home sanitation, it is hoped that early prevention and effective interventions for stunting in toddlers can be carried out. Children aged <24 months are more prevented from experiencing stunting 0.254 times than those aged ≥ 24 months.

Abstract

Obesity or overweight (overnutrition) is a global epidemiological problem that poses a quite serious threat to world public health. Early adolescence, namely 10-15 years of age, is a vulnerable period for weight gain, characterized by critical changes in body composition, eating behavior, daily activities, and psychological adjustments. All changes in body shaming, eating disorders, and frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources can be risk factors for overnutrition in young women. The aim of this research is to determine the description and relationship between body shaming, eating disorders, and the frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources on overnutrition in young women at SMPIT Al-Mughni. This research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The total sample was 44 respondents. The research results show that young women at SMPIT Al-Mughni have a BMI/U in the range of more than 36.4%. Adolescent girls who experience overnutrition in the high category of body shaming variable are 50% (p-value=0.039). Furthermore, the eating disorder variable in the binge risk category was 64.3% (p-value=0.009). The final variable, namely the frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources in the >1 x/day category, was 37.8% (p-value=0.640). From the results of this study, it was concluded that overnutrition had a significant relationship with the variables body shaming and eating disorders, while it did not have a significant relationship with the frequency of consumption of carbohydrate sources.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the factors that cause the behavior of using nutrition services by pregnant women with the risk of KEK at the Nutrition Clinic of the Kasemen Health Center, Serang City. This research method uses cross-sectional research. The results showed that 66.2% of pregnant women at risk of KESK did not take advantage of nutrition services at the nutrition clinic. The behavior of the utilization of nutrition services in pregnant women with the risk of SEZ was most dominantly influenced by support (OR=6.31; 95% CI: 2.633-15.138). In addition, this behavior is influenced by other factors, namely needs (OR = 5.22; 95% CI: 1.608-16.926) and family income (OR = 2.48; 95% CI: 1.061-5.814). In conclusion, pregnant women at risk of CED who do not receive support from their husbands are at risk of 6.31 times more at risk of not using nutrition services than pregnant women with the risk of CED who receive their husband's support. Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between protein intake, anemia, and sleep quality on the nutritional status of adolescent girls at Pondok Pesantren Bani Tamim. The research design is cross-sectional, involving a sample of 70 randomly selected adolescent girls. Data collection was conducted using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to assess food intake and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure sleep quality. The Chi-Square statistical analysis revealed a significant association between animal protein intake and nutritional status (p=0.003), whereas no significant link was identified between plant protein intake and nutritional status (p=1.000). The study also found no significant relationship between anemia and nutritional status (p=1.000). However, sleep quality showed a significant association with nutritional status (p=0.005), with most over-nourished adolescents sleeping less than 5 hours per day. Lack of sleep can disrupt hormonal regulation that controls appetite, increasing the risk of obesity. The low intake of animal protein at the boarding school was due to the limited supply of animal-based foods, while the adolescents tended to consume plant-based proteins such as tofu and tempeh. These findings highlight the importance of increasing animal protein intake and improving sleep quality to support optimal nutritional status in adolescent girls.
