Abstract

The number of elderly people worldwide increased by 221 million in 2022. This number is predicted to grow to 994 million in 2030. The elderly are a risk group with an age range of more than 65 years. Elderly age is usually characterized by a decline in bodily and physiological function, which causes the elderly to be less capable of adapting to disease exposures, including malaria. A preliminary study conducted in the Sentral Mimik Health Center's service area found that 13 respondents had low knowledge and attitudes regarding malaria prevention. At the same time, 1 other person showed sufficient knowledge and attitudes regarding malaria prevention in Mimika Regency. Purpose: This research aims to determine the effectiveness of education health using video educational media on the knowledge and attitudes of the elderly in preventing malaria at the Pasar Sentral Mimika Health Center in Mimika Regency. Method: This research employs Quasi Experimental design using Pretest-Posttest with control group design approach. The population in this study was 86 elderly people living in the Pasar Sentral Mimika sub-district. The sample size was 70 people divided into 2 groups, 35 in the intervention group and 35 in the control group, who were taken using simple techniques. Data were analyzed using a Paired t-test and multivariate analysis using the Manova test. Results: The distribution of the knowledge level among the elderly before the intervention was 3.88, and the average value after being given the intervention increased to 8.13. Meanwhile, the average attitude value distribution for elderly attitudes before the intervention was 13.58, and the average value after the intervention increased to 24.83. Conclusion: The average value of the elderly's knowledge level improved after receiving health education using video media in the intervention group at Pasar Sentral Mimika Health Center.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan mengoptimalkan literasi dan kesiapsiagaan KKR tingkat SMA/SMK melalui pelatihan bertema "From Student to Lifesaver".

Abstract

Background: The elderly, defined as individuals aged 60 years and above, have seen an increasing population due to advancements in healthcare but also face challenges such as hypertension. Hypertension, often referred to as "The Silent Killer," is becoming more common among the elderly due to physiological changes associated with aging. This condition, a leading cause of global cardiovascular diseases, heightens the risk of serious complications such as stroke and heart attack. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of health education using video and poster media on the knowledge of the elderly about hypertension. Methods: This study employs a quasi-experimental design using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design method, where the experimental and control groups were not randomly assigned. A total of 32 samples were collected and divided into two groups (control and treatment). Data analysis included univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Results: The MANOVA test results indicated that the most influential variable affecting the respondents' knowledge level was education, with a p-value of 0.026. This value approaches 1, indicating that education has a stronger correlation compared to other variables. Conclusion: There is an effect of health education using video and poster media on the knowledge level of the elderly about hypertension.

Abstract

This study aims to elaborate on the pattern of additional food as a risk factor for stunting in toddlers at the Pasar Prabumulih Health Center in 2023. Stunting is a condition where a child's height is shorter than the height of other children of the same age. Factors that can influence stunting include unhealthy eating patterns, low birth weight (LBW), lack of breastfeeding, due to infectious diseases during infancy, and failure to achieve perfect growth improvement in the following period. This study uses a case-control study approach with an analytical observational research design. Cases are toddlers diagnosed with stunting and controls are toddlers diagnosed as normal. The data collection technique uses primary data obtained directly from the research site by means of observation and interviews using questionnaires. Data were analyzed using binary logistic regression tests. The results of the analysis showed that there was no relationship between exclusive breastfeeding, parental education level, parental knowledge, and history of infectious diseases with stunting, but additional food patterns were related to stunting. The final multivariate model showed that only additional food patterns affected stunting.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction with hospital nutrition services is a crucial indicator of healthcare quality and recovery outcomes. Despite its importance, many hospitals still face challenges in meeting patient expectations regarding food quality and nutrition service delivery. This study aims to examine the factors affecting inpatient satisfaction with nutrition services. Using a descriptive-analytic method with a cross-sectional approach, the study involved 132 inpatients who met specific inclusion criteria. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire covering two main variables: patient perception of hospital food services and satisfaction with nutrition services, measured using a 4-point Likert scale. The results showed that most patients rated their perceptions and satisfaction positively, though some aspects received lower ratings from a small group of respondents. Statistical analysis revealed associations between satisfaction levels and demographic characteristics such as age, education, occupation, class of care, and length of stay, with varying levels of influence. Overall, food quality, service responsiveness, and personalized nutrition delivery emerged as key factors shaping patient satisfaction. This study provides valuable insights for improving nutrition service quality and promoting patient-centered care. Theoretically, it contributes to the understanding of healthcare service quality in nutrition services, while practically, it offers evidence-based recommendations for hospital management to enhance service delivery and patient care outcomes.

Abstract

Service quality is a crucial indicator in determining patient satisfaction, particularly in sensitive HIV services that require long-term therapy continuity. HIV patient satisfaction not only reflects perceptions of service quality but is also closely related to treatment success, patient retention, and reduced disease burden. This study aims to determine the quality of HIV services, the level of patient satisfaction, the relationship between demographic characteristics and patient satisfaction, and to analyze the relationship between the quality of HIV services and patient satisfaction at the Pasar Minggu Community Health Center. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. A sample of 79 respondents was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a SERVQUAL and Grönroos-based questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. Results showed that 87.3% of respondents rated service quality as good, and 77.2% expressed satisfaction. No significant relationship was found between demographic characteristics and patient satisfaction (p>0.05). However, a significant relationship was identified between service quality and patient satisfaction (p=0.038; OR=4.308). Service quality has a significant influence on HIV patient satisfaction. Therefore, improving the quality of service can be improved by focusing on improvements in the competence of medical personnel, timeliness of service, and ease of patient access; while maintaining strength in the responsiveness of nurses and professionalism of doctors, this is very important in increasing satisfaction and success of HIV patient treatment at the primary care level.
