Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of outdoor study-based problem-based learning on high school students' critical thinking abilities on respiratory system material. This research methodology uses quantitative methods with a quasi-experimental type. The research population was class XI high school students with a sample size of 86 students. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation and written tests. Data analysis techniques use descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the research show that the average critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class taught using the outdoor study-based Problem Based Learning learning model is in the high category and the average critical thinking ability of students in the control class taught using the conventional learning model is low, this is based on the average posttest score from the experimental class, namely 80.22 and the control class, namely 55.95. The results of hypothesis testing using Independent Sample t-test statistics show that there is an influence of the outdoor study-based problem based learning model on the results of students' critical thinking abilities in the material on the human respiratory system Class XI Science SMA Brigjen Katamso 2 Medan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning using problem-based learning strategies on student learning outcomes on environmental change material at Teladan Batu Bara Madrasah Aliyah. This research is a type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design selected by Nonequavalent pretest posttest control group design. The research population was class X IPA Madrasah Akiyah Exemplary and the sample of this study was Class X IPA 1 with a total of 35 students as the experimental class, and X IPA 2 with a total of 35 students as the control class. The instrument in this study was in the form of a test in the form of multiple choice questions of 30 items. Data analysis of student learning outcomes using the t-test formula, also with the help of SPSS version 25 data processing. Data analysis of student learning outcomes with the results of calculating the relative learning outcomes shows that the experimental class using problem-based learning strategies is higher than the control class. The prerequisite test proved that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The results of simple linear regression test calculations show sig < 0.005, 0.000 problems < 0.05, this means that there is an influence from the problem- based learning system on student learning outcomes. The conclusions in this study explain that there is an effect of using problem-based learning strategies on student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of teacher professionalism in the 21st century, especially in the context of English language learning. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological design, with data collection techniques through interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. The results show that teacher professionalism covers various aspects, including subject matter mastery and professional attitude. Professional teachers are expected to be able to design and implement effective learning, motivate students, guide and provide counseling, assess students’ learning progress, and manage the classroom well. The research findings show that English teachers in Indonesia need to improve some aspects of their professionalism, such as English teaching skills in the classroom and the development of more innovative materials. Teachers also need further training to improve their ability to teach English in the digital era. Support from the school and collaboration with peers are also very important to improve the quality of English learning in schools. This study concludes that teacher professionalism is an important factor in achieving better education standards. Teachers must continue to learn and develop to improve their competencies and meet the needs of students in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze medicinal products containing macro and micro algae as basic ingredients that are available in traditional and modern markets in the city of Medan. The descriptive survey method was used in this research, with data collection through direct observation, interviews with sellers and buyers, and product documentation. The markets surveyed included several representative traditional and modern markets in Medan City. The research results show that modern markets offer a wide range of algae-based products, whereas in traditional markets, these products may be more limited. Consumers in the modern market tend to be more aware of the health benefits of algae and prefer products that have clear certification and quality standards. However, consumer awareness in traditional markets still needs to be increased. Obstacles such as lack of consumer education and limited product distribution are still challenges that need to be overcome. Thus, an effective strategy in developing the market for algae-based medicinal products in Medan City is to increase consumer education, improve regulatory standards and product quality, and expand product distribution more evenly between traditional and modern markets.

Abstract

A variety of biology texbooks have been published in order to include regulatory demands and educational needs. So this research aims to identify misconceptions that exist in the material, fungi (fungi) in the revised 2013 curriculum class X Biology book, so that existing misconception are realized by teachers as educators, as well as the public in general. The type of research cerried out in this research is quantitative descriptive research in the form of identification, classification and descriptive analysis of misconceptions on material concepts, fungi (fungi) found in class X high school biology open books. This research was carried out from April to June 2024, book what is explained in this research is the biology high school book published by erlangga. The content of the material contained in the book being analyzed is appropriate because the book contains groupings of fungi based on reproductive characteristics and relatings them to everyday life. But there are still some misconceptions such as the difference between higher plants, and plants, levels low, fungal body shape, fungal classification, lichen reproduction and thallus morphologi in lichen.

Abstract

This research analyzes misconceptions in the 2013 Biology curriculum book for class X, especially regarding ecosystem material. Using qualitative descriptive methods, this research identifies parts of the book that have the potential to cause misconceptions and involves interviews and questionnaires with students and teachers. The results show that less than 10% of concepts experience misconceptions, with the highest level of misconceptions in the concepts of food chains and energy flow. Most misconceptions are caused by students' lack of understanding of teacher explanations that are difficult to understand. Students tend to look for references on the internet to clarify material, but this also has the potential to increase misconceptions if the source is not clear. Lecture-based learning methods and the use of PowerPoint media without in-depth explanations also contribute to misconceptions. This research emphasizes the importance of meaningful and participatory learning to reduce student misconceptions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks prosedur pada siswa kelas VII MTs Darul Ulum Budi Agung melalui penerapan metode Problem Based Learning (PBL). Permasalahan yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks prosedur yang ditunjukkan dengan kesulitan dalam menyusun langkah-langkah secara sistematis dan penggunaan bahasa yang kurang tepat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, dengan setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Peningkatan ini dicapai melalui implementasi PBL yang mendorong siswa untuk aktif memecahkan masalah nyata dalam pembelajaran, juga meningkatkan keterampilan menulis secara sistematis. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa metode Problem Based Learning efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks prosedur siswa kelas VII MTs Darul Ulum Budi Agung.

Abstract

This study aims to apply the think pair share learning method in learning Akidah Morals for class VIII at MTs Swasta Darul Ulum Budi Agung Medan. This study uses a qualitative research method, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation used to collect and strengthen research data. The subjects of the study were students of class VIII-2 MTs S Darul Ulum Budi Agung. With data validity techniques in the form of prolonged and lengthy, and triangulation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the think pair share method in learning Akidah Morals in class VIII MTs Darul Ulum Budi Agung can increase students' interest in learning in class with a fairly enjoyable strategy. This learning method is believed to be able to improve student understanding, encourage active participation, and develop collaborative skills. By encouraging reflection, discussion, and presentation of understanding, the TPS method has been shown to improve student learning outcomes. Although the implementation of TPS requires the willingness, ability, and creativity of teachers in managing the classroom environment, this method is relevant in teaching values such as cooperation, respect, and responsibility. By fostering active engagement and critical thinking, the TPS method encourages a communicative learning environment that encourages students to work together to deepen understanding and build confidence in sharing ideas.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the perceptions of eighth grade students towards the use of dictation method in English language learning. This study used qualitative methods, through questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The results showed that the majority of students viewed dictation as an effective tool to improve their listening and writing skills. Students felt that dictation helped improve spelling and expand vocabulary. However, some students found dictation boring and challenging, especially for those with hearing disabilities. The study concluded that although dictation has its own challenges, its benefits in supporting English language learning are significant. Recommendations for teachers include diversifying teaching methods to maintain student interest and providing additional listening practice for students who need it.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the inhibiting factors of students in speaking English and to determine the teacher's perception of the inhibiting factors of students in speaking English as a foreign language. This was done to overcome students' problems in learning the target language and solve students' problems in learning to speak. Descriptive qualitative research was chosen as the research design in conducting this research. Besides that, it also involves students as the subject of this research. The results of the study show that two main factors, affective and cognitive factors, seem to hinder students in learning to speak English as a foreign language. In addition, students also get more influence from affective factors as the first main factor that hinders students in learning to speak English. The results of the study also show that teachers positively agree that the inhibiting factors as mentioned previously also hinder students in learning to speak English as a foreign language. In the end, the teacher must also consider the results of the research as a material consideration in designing activities in the learning process of speaking English as a foreign language that will help students to overcome their speaking problems.
