Abstract

Madrasa Principal policy management is a fundamental aspect in developing the quality of Islamic education which is currently facing complex challenges in the era of globalization and digital transformation. This research aims to identify effective policy management models for madrasah principals through a systematic literature review and meta-analysis approach. Using the PRISMA protocol, from the initial 35,276 articles, five high-quality articles were obtained for in-depth analysis. The research results show four main patterns in the policy management of madrasah principals: transition from top-down to collaborative approaches, integration of technology, emphasis on crisis management, and recognition of the emotional dimension. Meta-analysis shows that technology integration (effect size 0.76) and collaborative policy making (effect size 0.72) have the strongest influence on organizational effectiveness, while crisis management (0.48) and emotional leadership (0.53) show moderate influences. Overall, madrasah principal policy management had a significant positive impact (combined effect size 0.63) with moderate-high heterogeneity (I² = 68.7%). This research recommends developing an integrative policy management model that combines a collaborative approach with the use of technology, as well as expanding capacity development programs for madrasah heads that focus on crisis management skills and emotional intelligence.

Abstract

The era of disruption, marked by massive digital transformation, economic uncertainty, and global crises, has posed significant challenges to the management of education financing, demanding more adaptive and sustainable strategies. This research aims to identify and analyze adaptive education financing management strategies in the face of the era of disruption through a systematic literature review and meta-analysis approach. The data collection process was carried out through literature searches from three main databases, namely, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Mendeley, with a total of 221,131 articles, which went through a gradual filtering process until 5 articles remained selected for in-depth analysis. The meta-analysis results reveal that adaptive financial management capacity has the strongest correlation with the resilience of educational institutions (effect size 0.89, p<0.001), followed by diversification of funding sources (0.66, p<0.01), socio-economic considerations (0.62, p<0.01), and technology integration (0.60, p<0.01). This research identifies four main categories of education financing management strategies: public funding transformation, public-private approach, digital transformation with changes in cost structures, and consideration of socio-economic impacts. The analysis also reveals significant regional variations, with Eastern European approaches emphasizing ranking-based selective financing, Western Europeans focusing on socio-economic impacts, and Latin Americans focusing on the relationship between financial aid and labor market outcomes. The results of this research provide an integrated conceptual framework for a responsive, flexible, and sustainable education financing model in an era of disruption, as well as an empirical basis for education stakeholders in optimizing resource allocation.

Abstract

Professional competence of teachers in Integrated Islamic Schools (SIT) represents a complex phenomenon that requires a comprehensive understanding due to its unique characteristics of integrating Islamic values with national educational standards. According to the Indonesian Ministry of National Education Regulation No. 16 of 2007, professional competence encompasses mastery of materials, structures, concepts, and scientific thinking patterns that support the subjects taught, which becomes more complex in the SIT context due to dual curriculum requirements. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review and meta-analysis to analyze the characteristics, influencing factors, and impacts of professional competence among SIT teachers. The research employed the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol, searching three major databases (ERIC, ScienceDirect, and PubMed) with a total of 43.985 initial articles. These articles were systematically filtered to yield 7 articles that met the inclusion criteria for meta-analysis. The meta-analysis revealed a moderate to large effect size of 0.60 (95% CI: 0.52-0.68, p<0.001), indicating that professional competence significantly influences various educational outcomes in SIT, with the strongest correlation (r=0.68) found between professional competence and teacher work productivity, contributing 70.2% effectiveness. The study recommends developing a comprehensive and contextual professional competence framework for SIT teachers, designing continuous training programs that integrate pedagogical, technological, and spiritual dimensions, and strengthening supervision and evaluation systems based on Islamic values.

Abstract

Higher education currently faces complex challenges in efforts to improve the quality of educational services amidst increasingly fierce global competition. This research aims to conduct a systematic literature review and meta-analysis of various current research on higher education quality management to produce a comprehensive model that integrates various approaches and considers local context and religious values. The research method uses a qualitative approach with Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and Meta-Analysis, implementing the PRISMA protocol as a methodological framework in literature selection. Of the initial 59,422 articles searched, 7 high-quality articles were selected for comprehensive review. The meta-analysis results show a significant positive correlation between quality management factors and the quality of higher education with an overall effect size of r = 0.60 (95% CI [0.52, 0.68]). Transformative leadership emerged as the most influential factor (r = 0.68), followed by quality culture (r = 0.63) and TQM implementation (r = 0.62). Moderate to high heterogeneity (I² = 67.3%) indicates the need for a contextual rather than standard quality management approach. These findings suggest a holistic quality management model that integrates TQM principles, CIPP evaluation model, transformative leadership, outcome-based curriculum development, stakeholder involvement, and integration of religious values according to institutional characteristics.

Abstract

Religious moderation has become an urgent issue in Indonesia’s educational context, particularly in fostering tolerance and preventing radicalism among students. Schools play a crucial role in shaping students’ perspectives on religious diversity, with Islamic Religious Education (IRE) teachers serving as key agents in instilling moderation values. However, the implementation of religious moderation in schools faces various challenges, including curriculum constraints, sociocultural influences, and students’ diverse backgrounds. This study aims to analyze the specific strategies employed by IRE teachers in fostering religious moderation, the challenges they encounter, and the impact of their efforts on students. Using a qualitative research method with a social phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving IRE teachers and students in a senior high school in Banten, Indonesia. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify recurring patterns and key themes related to religious moderation practices. The findings indicate that IRE teachers implement religious moderation through interactive teaching methods, interfaith dialogues, and role-modeling behaviors that emphasize tolerance and balance. However, challenges such as limited institutional support, resistance from certain groups, and a lack of comprehensive training hinder the effectiveness of these efforts. Despite these obstacles, the study highlights the positive influence of IRE teachers in fostering an inclusive and harmonious school environment. The implications of this research suggest the need for more structured teacher training programs, curriculum adjustments to integrate religious moderation effectively, and policy support from educational institutions. These findings contribute to the broader discourse on religious moderation and provide practical recommendations for improving Islamic education in diverse learning environments.

Abstract

Quality education requires the support of effective school management, particularly through the principal's managerial competence in managing facilities and infrastructure. Well-planned facilities and infrastructure are believed to create a conducive learning environment that influences the quality of learning. This study aims to explore the role of principals' managerial competence in planning, organizing, and supervising educational facilities and infrastructure in Islamic Elementary Schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah) as an effort to improve the quality of education. The method used was a qualitative case study approach at MI Attamam and MI Daarul Ilmi in Tangerang Regency, Banten. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis, then analyzed thematically. The results show that principals play a central role in ensuring the availability, utilization, and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure. Constraints such as budget limitations and school community participation were overcome through collaborative strategies, innovation, and a participatory management system. The novelty of this research lies in mapping the principals' managerial strategies in two madrasas with different conditions, as well as the direct link between infrastructure management and non-academic learning quality indicators. Practically, this research provides an alternative model for infrastructure management that is adaptive and applicable to madrasas. Theoretically, this research enriches the study of Islamic education management by emphasizing the principal's role as an innovator and driver of infrastructure-based educational quality.
