Abstract

The phenomenon of identity crisis and loss of direction among Generation Z adolescents has become increasingly concerning amid the dominance of social media. This study aims to analyze the relevance of the hadith on ma‘rifat al-nafs (“Whoever knows himself knows his Lord”) in relation to the psychological and spiritual problems faced by the digital generation from the perspective of Eriksonian developmental theory. The research employs a qualitative approach through a literature study of hadith scholarship, developmental psychology, and modern adolescent social phenomena. The findings reveal that Generation Z’s identity crisis arises from disconnection from spiritual values and the dominance of digital self-image. The hadith on ma‘rifat al-nafs offers a reflective paradigm that can restore spiritual and moral balance, while Erikson’s theory explains the psychosocial mechanisms of identity formation. The integration of these two perspectives produces a comprehensive approach to shaping adolescent identity that is both spiritually and socially grounded. This study emphasizes the importance of hadith-based Islamic education and counseling in addressing the existential disorientation of youth in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of prophetic teachings on ghibah or backbiting in addressing the rising phenomenon of hate speech on social media. The research uses a qualitative library based design supported by thematic analysis to examine primary hadith sources and contemporary scholarly discussions. The findings show that ghibah in the digital age appears in new forms such as public shaming, mocking comments, cyberbullying, and the rapid circulation of unverified information, all of which correspond to the moral concerns presented in hadith literature. The study also reveals that integrating hadith based ethics with digital literacy, particularly the principle of tabayyun or information verification, provides a constructive moral framework for reducing harmful online behavior. In conclusion, this research emphasizes that prophetic ethics offer conceptual insight as well as practical guidance for fostering responsible, respectful, and ethical digital conduct among Muslim users.

Abstract

The learning process of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMP Darul Ulum Sekampung, Lampung Timur shows a noticeable gap in students’ learning outcomes and participation levels, resulting in many students requiring additional individual or group assignments. This study aims to describe the instructional design of the Jigsaw-type Cooperative Learning model in PAI lessons and to analyze its effectiveness in improving students’ learning outcomes. The research employed the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research (CAR) model, consisting of three cycles that encompass planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted using the paired sample t-test. The findings indicate that the effective implementation of the Jigsaw learning design consists of five heterogeneous groups of 5–6 students, with learning materials distributed according to the number of group members. The procedure includes forming home groups, creating expert groups, conducting material discussions, and presenting the discussion results back to the home groups, with the teacher acting as a facilitator and evaluator through individual quizzes. The results further show that the Jigsaw method significantly improves PAI learning outcomes, as evidenced by significant differences between pre-test and post-test scores in each cycle. In addition to improved learning outcomes, the use of the Jigsaw method encourages active student participation, strengthens their understanding of religious teachings, and develops social and collaborative skills. Therefore, the Jigsaw-type Cooperative Learning model is considered effective and feasible for application in PAI instruction..

Abstract

The concept of talent management has generated substantial debate in the human resource management literature, particularly regarding the question of who should be considered as “talent”. Two competing perspectives exist: the exclusionary approach, which views talent as a limited elite group of high-performing or high-potential workers, and the inclusive individual approach, which assumes that all employees possess talents that can be developed. This study aims to mediate these perspectives through a narrative literature review focusing on influential and highly cited scientific publications, and offering new insights that serve as theoretical foundations for researchers over a period of five years or more. The findings demonstrate a clear shift in the current literature toward a hybrid talent management model that integrates inclusive development systems with strategic differentiation mechanisms. Rather than viewing talent as a fixed attribute, contemporary studies increasingly conceptualize talent as dynamic, context-dependent, and developable. This review reaffirms the hybrid approach to defining talent, which is considered more contextual, balanced, productive, and ethical. It is hoped that the results of this study will free talent management researchers from the trap of the exclusionary-inclusive dichotomy that persists today.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze hadiths concerning guardianship and women's consent in marriage and their relevance to the tradition of elopement (merariq) in Lombok society. Merariq is a traditional Sasak marriage practice that begins with the symbolic act of taking the bride before the formal marriage contract. In practice, this tradition often raises debates regarding the fulfillment of women's consent and the involvement of legal guardians as emphasized in the Prophet’s hadith. This study employs a library research method using a contextual analysis approach by examining hadith literature, classical commentaries, and socio-religious studies related to the merariq tradition. The findings indicate that hadiths concerning guardianship and consent emphasize the protection of women’s rights, the prevention of coercion, and the establishment of just marriage procedures. The merariq tradition can be aligned with Islamic legal values as long as it ensures genuine consent, legitimate guardian involvement, and the absence of coercion or harm. Therefore, contextual interpretation enables constructive integration between local cultural practices and Islamic normative principles.

Abstract

This study examines ihdad in classical hadith and its relevance for Generation Z living in pop culture and the digital space. Normatively, the ihdad hadith establishes strict rules regarding the prohibition of adornment and restrictions on activities during the mourning period. However, Gen Z's expressions of grief tend to be open, visual, and influenced by social media aesthetics, creating tensions with traditional ihdad norms. This study addresses four research questions: the interpretation of the classical ihdad hadith, the characteristics of pop culture and Gen Z's expressions of grief, the dynamics of their interaction, and solutions through an interconnected approach. Using a literature review method, the study found that ihdad can be understood more contextually by emphasizing its moral and spiritual values. An interconnected approach offers a bridge between normative teachings and digital cultural practices, ensuring that ihdad remains relevant and adaptive for Gen Z.

Abstract

The dominance of cancel culture in digital spaces reflects a major shift in contemporary practices of moral correction while raising ethical concerns related to information reliability, justice, and the risk of digital harm. This study aims to reinterpret cancel culture through the ethical framework of amar makruf nahi mungkar to determine when it may operate as a legitimate and constructive form of resisting wrongdoing. Using a qualitative library-based approach, the research integrates thematic Qur’anic exegesis on hisbah, analysis of key hadith on moral responsibility, and multidisciplinary literature on digital behavior, mass psychology, and online public opinion. The findings indicate that cancel culture becomes ethically permissible when grounded in tabayyun, aligned with principles of justice, free from tajassus, and protective of human dignity against mob-driven excesses. The study further proposes a model of digital amar makruf nahi mungkar that emphasizes public education, data verification, restorative correction, and the prevention of informational harm. Its main contribution lies in connecting classical Islamic ethical principles with contemporary digital dynamics, producing a framework that guides ethical online engagement. The research concludes that cancel culture can serve as a legitimate mechanism of moral accountability when governed by maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, while noting limitations concerning the absence of empirical data and the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Abstract

The rise of Korean popular culture (K-Pop) has become a significant part of the digital lives of Muslim Generation Z in Indonesia, functioning not only as entertainment but also as a medium for self-expression and cultural identity formation. However, this engagement with global culture raises questions regarding Islamic value boundaries, particularly in relation to the hadith on tasyabbuh, which cautions against imitating specific groups. This study aims to analyze how Muslim Gen Z understands the relevance of the tasyabbuh hadith and how they negotiate religious values with their identity as K-Pop fans. Using a quantitative survey design, data were collected through an online questionnaire distributed via purposive and snowball sampling to 35 Muslim respondents aged 17–25. Descriptive statistics were employed to map patterns of cultural consumption, hadith comprehension, and religious attitudes. The findings reveal that K-Pop consumption among Muslim Gen Z is selective, with most respondents viewing it as a neutral form of entertainment that does not interfere with religious practices. Their interpretation of the tasyabbuh hadith tends to be contextual, distinguishing between imitation in ritual matters and imitation in general cultural practices, leading them to conclude that engaging with K-Pop does not constitute prohibited imitation. Furthermore, respondents demonstrate strong moral filtering mechanisms and uphold religion as a primary boundary in interacting with popular culture. Thus, the study concludes that Muslim Gen Z’s engagement with K-Pop represents a moderate identity negotiation that remains rooted in Islamic values.
