Abstract

This study explores the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through the integration of Islamic Digital Ethics values at Pesantren Syamsul Jinan, Besuki, Situbondo. The research aims to describe how pesantren, as traditional Islamic educational institutions, adapt to the digital era without losing their spiritual and moral foundations. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with field research methods, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving kyai, teachers, and students. The findings reveal that Pesantren Syamsul Jinan has successfully implemented digital-based learning innovations such as the use of multimedia tools, Islamic digital applications, and online learning systems. However, these developments are always accompanied by the internalization of Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, and digital ethics based on the principle of adab al-ma‘lumat (ethics of information). Teachers play a central role in guiding students to apply ethical principles in digital interactions and to use technology as a medium of da’wah and learning. The integration of Islamic Digital Ethics in the pesantren’s PAI learning process contributes significantly to the moral development of students, ensuring that technological advancement supports—rather than undermines—their Islamic character. Challenges such as limited digital facilities and variations in teachers’ technological skills still exist, but the institution continues to strengthen digital literacy and ethical awareness. This study concludes that Pesantren Syamsul Jinan represents a model of adaptive Islamic education, combining traditional pesantren values with modern technological competencies. The results of this research are expected to serve as a reference for other Islamic boarding schools in integrating digital transformation with Islamic ethics, forming a generation of students who are digitally literate, morally grounded, and spiritually intelligent.

Abstract

Education is a key pillar in human resource development in Indonesia. However, the quality of education still faces various challenges, such as unequal access and low teaching quality. This study aims to analyze the education policies implemented by the government to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. Using a qualitative approach, the policy analysis was conducted to identify factors influencing the effectiveness of the policies and their impact on society. The analysis shows that despite the existence of programs such as compulsory education and teacher competency improvement, the gap between formulated policies and their implementation remains a major problem. Therefore, a more inclusive and participatory approach to education policy formulation is needed to ensure that each policy adopted addresses local needs and improves the overall quality of education. Islamic education in Indonesia faces a number of complex and diverse problems. This article uses a qualitative research approach to gain a deeper understanding of these issues. Through literature review, stakeholder interviews, and participant observation in Islamic education settings, this study uncovers key challenges, including the quality gap between formal and non-formal Islamic education, the lack of harmonization between Islamic education and the national education system, the need to improve the competency of educators, and the challenges of technology and globalization.

Abstract

The purpose was to reveal the form of non-physical assets carried out by Islamic boarding schools as a step to adjust the image with the identity of the Islamic boarding school so that it can create a good reputation among the community. This research method used a qualitative case study type. Nurul Hikmah Pesisir Besuki Situbondo boarding school was the location and object of this research. Data collection techniques used observation, interviews with 5 informants (the caregivers, the head of the Islamic boarding school, and 2 community leaders), and documentation. The analysis technique applied the interactive analytical model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana by condensing the data, presenting the data, which then draws conclusions. Source triangulation was a technique for checking the validity of data. The results of the study explained that the Nurul Hikmah Islamic boarding school had a fairly good reputation. There were several intangible assets in building this reputation, including (1) good and positive relations with community leaders. (2) the risk of crisis becomes smaller. (3) mutual understanding between target audiences, both internal (such as increasing the loyalty of pesantren staff) and externally. The pesantren management had a high commitment to carry out pesantren activities in accordance with what is stated in the vision and mission, and pays attention to crucial issues related to the routines carried out by the pesantren. This fact once again confirmed that the reputation of the pesantren is formed from the non-physical assets of the pesantren rather than physical assets.

By using a moderation and deradicalization approach, this research explores how these two institutions can collaborate in forming moderate attitudes and preventing potential radicalism among the younger generation. This research method involves interviews, observation and documentation to gain in-depth insight into the moderation programs implemented in the Scout Movement and Islamic boarding schools. Research findings show that the moderation approach in these two institutions includes character education, interfaith dialogue, and balanced development of leadership skills. Apart from that, deradicalization efforts are carried out through a deep understanding of national values, tolerance and intercultural dialogue. The results of this research provide conceptual and practical insights regarding how the Scout Movement and Islamic boarding schools can become effective instruments in responding to the challenges of radicalism. The implications of these findings involve the development of more structured and collaborative moderation programs between educational and religious institutions, aimed at forming the character of the younger generation who are responsible, moderate, and able to maintain diversity in society.
