Abstract

The inquiry learning model is a model that facilitates the construction of students' scientific knowledge which can also improve students' argumentation skills. According to several research results, inquiry-based learning has proven to be effective in improving scientific argumentation skills because in the learning process students are directed in investigative activities to find scientific evidence as a basis for scientific argumentation. By considering the student learning process, the aim of this research is to describe whether the use of three types of inquiry learning models can teach fluid material and influence the student learning process, one of which is students' argumentation abilities. This research method uses mixed method triangulation. The instruments used were interview questionnaires and argumentation tests. The data obtained was then analyzed using simple statistical tests and N-gain scores. Interview data was analyzed to find out clarification of students' answers. The research results of the inquiry learning model were successful in developing argumentation skills, namely the n-gain score resulted in the use of the structured inquiry learning model gaining 0.88, the guided inquiry learning model 0.84 and the open inquiry learning model 0.74.

Abstract

Abstrak: Mitra yang terlibat dalam kegiatan pelatihan berasal dari 17 SMP Kota Mojokerto sebanyak 40 peserta yang dilakukan di Dinas Kota Mojokerto dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru IPA dalam membuat video pembelajaran, Salah satu masalah utama yang dihadapi para guru berdasarkan hasil diskusi adalah kesulitan dalam membuat video pembelajaran yang sesuai materi. Agar permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh para mitra tersebut berhasil diatasi, maka perlu diadakan pelatihan mengenai pembuatan video pembelajaran. khususnya dalam pembelajaran IPA sesuai dengan prinsip productive use of video framework. Metode pelaksanaan untuk menyelesaikan masalah ini dibagi dalam tiga tahap, yaitu tahap inisiasi/persiapan, pelaksanaan pelatihan dan pendampingan, serta pasca-pelatihan/pendampingan. Evaluasi ini dilakukan dengan mengukur normalized change berdasarkan hasil tes. Sebanyak 82,61% dari total peserta yang berhasil menyelesaikan seluruh tahapan, tugas, dan tes, sehingga dapat dikatakan pelatihan pembuatan video pembelajaran ini berhasil dan meningkat.Abstract: The partners involved in the training activities came from 17 junior high schools in Mojokerto City, totaling 40 participants, which were carried out at the Mojokerto City Department with the aim of improving the skills of science teachers in making learning videos. One of the main problems faced by the teachers based on the results of the discussion was the difficulty in making learning videos. appropriate material. In order for the problems faced by these partners to be successfully overcome, training needs to be held regarding making learning videos. especially in science learning in accordance with the principle of productive use of video framework. The implementation method for solving this problem is divided into three stages, namely the initiation/preparation stage, implementation of training and mentoring, and post-training/mentoring. This evaluation is carried out by measuring normalized change based on test results. As many as 82.61% of the total participants successfully completed all stages, assignments and tests, so it can be said that this learning video making training was successful and improving.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the implementation of learning using a cooperative learning model type of think pair share (TPS) with an index card match (ICM) strategy. The research method used was observational research involving 32 students of 8th grade in one of the MTs in Mojokerto Regency. The data collection techniques in this study were observation of learning implementation. The research data were analyzed using percentage of learning implementation, and Cohen's Kappa coefficient (k). The results showed that the implementation of learning using a cooperative learning model type of TPS with an ICM strategy for two meetings was carried out with very good criteria, and the two observers still had a fair agreement in assessing the implementation of learning. Students are actively involved in the discussion process to complete tasks individually or in pairs. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the cooperative learning model type of TPS with ICM strategy can have an impact on student activity in the implementation of learning, although there are still limitations in the study.

Abstract

The process of implementing the selection of instructional media is essentially one application of learning technology. This research is the implementation of project-based learning in which learners will create teaching aids to study the basic competencies of the motion system. This research belongs to research design with a small-scale class trial. This research involves five randomly selected learners. Questionnaire instruments were used to measure the interest and motivation of learners after the small-scale class trial. The results of the small-scale class trial show that student interest is predominantly low, with a percentage of 25% regarding teaching aids-based instructional media, while the results of the small-scale class trial indicate that learner motivation agrees, with a percentage of 47% regarding student motivation instruments in instructional media. Learner responses to teaching aids and instructional media are quite positive, with a percentage of 60%, and they provide feedback related to providing more visuals and more appealing fonts. The implementation of project-based learning with teaching aids media in the small-scale class trial shows a positive trend and serves as a basis for improving teaching aids media for use in larger-scale class trials. Abstract

The learning Media used today is sophisticated because it utilizes information technology. However, simple teaching aids still remain relevant in science learning. The purpose of this study is to determine the validity of the props that have been made, namely props "boat raft" in the application of Archimedes law. Testing the validity of the props also made use of virtual laboratory simulation "Archimedes law" on the site of Virtual Lab, home of learning. The research method used in this study is design-research by utilizing small-scale Class Trials. Data processing in determining validity using Aiken's coefficient V. The validity of props according to two science teachers is more effective in virtual laboratory simulation of "Archimedes law". Interest and motivation of students while learning the majority respond interesting and easy in the use of raft boat props. The students ' responses to the media props test the effectiveness of the raft boat props in terms of design aspects, aspects of quality and aspects of effectiveness. The results obtained indicate that the virtual laboratory simulation “Archimedes law” has the potential to increase motivation and interest in learning in students.

Abstract

Creativity is one of the skills that must be possessed in the 21st century, especially by pre-service science teachers. However, in fact, the quality of pre-service science teacher creativity still needs to be improved. Therefore, this research aims to increase the creativity of pre-service science teachers through STEM Problem-Solving. This research uses a one group pretest posttest design. The sample in this study was 53 pre-service science teachers in the science education department at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Increasing the quality of pre-service science teacher creativity is measured based on pretest and posttest scores. The pretest and posttest scores were then analyzed using N-Change. Apart from that, it was also analyzed statistically using paired t-test. This is used to ensure that STEM Problem-Solving really has an effect on increasing the creativity of pre-service science teachers. The research results show that STEM Problem-Solving is proven to significantly increase the creativity of pre-service science teachers. The category of increasing pre-service science teacher creativity is in the medium category. The majority of pre-service science teachers' final creative quality is in the creative category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi krisis sampah plastik global melalui pendidikan lingkungan yang inovatif, menggunakan teknologi dan informasi sebagai pendukung utama. Fokusnya adalah mendeskripsikan tingkat kesadaran lingkungan siswa terkait fenomena limbah plastik dan respons siswa setelah pemberian perlakuan penerapan media Edpuzzle berbantuan model pembelajaran Open Inquiry pada materi ekologi. Subjek penelitian ini, yaitu 32 siswa kelas VII di sebuah SMP Negeri di Jombang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain poor-experimental dengan rancangan one-group pretest-posttest. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan survei, kemudian dianalisis dengan uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk, uji-t, dan statistik deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa data berdistribusi normal dengan perbedaan rata-rata antara pretest dan posttest adalah 0,429. Terdapat peningkatan signifikan dalam kesadaran lingkungan yang ditunjukkan hasil uji-t pretest dan posttest dengan nilai signifikansi kurang dari 0,05 (p < 0,001), mean difference 17,0 dan effect size 4,48. Selain itu, hasil rata-rata angket respons siswa sebesar 90% siswa sangat setuju dengan pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan Edpuzzle dalam Open Inquiry efektif meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan siswa terhadap fenomena limbah plastik.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between critical thinking and scientific argumentation in the context of science learning. This research method is a systematic literature review of articles published between 2012 and 2022 and indexed in Scopus at least Quartile 2 (Q2), so the quality of the articles is high. This research found 17,800 articles in the search results for related articles published in the last decade, but only 11 met the criteria. Findings from the literature review indicate an interdependent relationship between critical thinking and scientific argumentation, and both make significant contributions to science learning. Other information obtained from this research is that there are several methods for training and developing critical thinking and scientific argumentation in science learning: argument maps and concept maps, essential reading activities, argumentative texts or discourse, discussion activities, analytical questions, learning technology, and specific learning strategies. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that critical thinking and scientific argumentation are interconnected skills and contribute to learning. The complexity of the relationship between critical thinking and scientific argumentation in science learning can encourage deeper learning and understanding of concepts.

Abstract

Experiential learning media initiatives in junior high school because students will more easily understand concepts through experimental activities compared to just listening to information from the teacher. The method used is a survey of students' interests and motivations after trying the media props "wind powered car." The number of participants surveyed was seven junior high school students. The small amount is intended to obtain initial data about interest and motivation in the learning media prototype. The survey results show that the majority of students are interested in the media or have high interest and motivation in experiential learning media. Based on the survey results, the prototype of the learning media that has been made is good enough, so it can be used in larger classes. Keywords: learning media, junior high school, social, and culture.
