Abstract

The COVID-19 emergency situation has affected all citizens of the world, including Indonesia and also all non-formal and formal educational institutions, such as higher educations. The Learning Process in various educational units, including tertiary institutions, experienced a total change to the use of internet or online media. The present article examines the media and the Arabic learning process at the university in the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The COVID-19 pandemic situation changed the way of learning Arabic students at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang from conventional offline learning to learning using internet media online. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The data are obtained through observation, questionnaires distributed through Google forms, online interviews through social media, and documentation. The result shows that the majority of students use the WhatsApp application, and most of them study autonomously through online platforms. Besides, it reveals that the most popular learning material is video. To improve their language skills, students are more likely to have peer-discussion activities. The study discovered a shift in Arabic learning by students of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang from personal to instrumental as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic situation. In this case, there was a transformation in Arabic learning from a personal-cultural approach to an instrumental-functional approach. This research has implications regarding the ideal Arabic learning process in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The shift also took place in the degree of teachers' dependence towards dependence on technology during the pandemic situation.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the efforts made in improving the competence of Arabic teacher through multiple intelligence-based classroom management at SD Plus Al-Kautsar Malang. It used a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The data collection included observation, interviews, and documentation, while analysis techniques relied on Miles and Hubermen’ steps as follow; data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that the efforts to increase the competency of Arabic teachers through multiple intelligence-based classroom management at SD Plus Al-Kautsar Malang, including the improvement of pedagogic and professional competences. The effort to increase pedagogic competence was giving the training to educators related to the design of a lesson plan, while the effort to increase professional competence is training in applying multiple intelligence during the learning process, such as Multiple Intelligence System (MIS) and Multiple Intelligence Research (MIR) training.

Abstract

The 2019 Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) creates challenges for the Arabic learning process at Indonesian Islamic Universities, which is one of the mandatory subjects to support foreign language communication. This research aims to analyze the problems of learning Arabic online at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang in the situation of COVID-19. This research utilise case studies based on data includes observations of Arabic learning processes, collecting documentation through lesson plans and interviews with Arabic lecturers. The data analysis technique employs data triangulation through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, conclussion. The results ascertain that Arabic learning activities showed less effectiveness in COVID-19 situation, this was due to the varied problems of  learning Arabic based on online learning; the teacher's experience in designing online-based interactive media, the minimum stable learning platform, the minimal control process on students' language acquisition and supporting facilities in learning Arabic online. The findings of this study discover that Arabic lecturers to integrate all learning components holistically, so the Arabic learning process can achieve maximum results. This research recommends to the other research to find a solution to every problem that exists in Arabic learning in COVID-19 situation at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang.

Abstract

Arabic language learning program are implemented for all students under the auspices of the Language Development Center in UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This program aims to increase foreign language skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. So, the output of this program is expected that students can dig up information to support global communication. This study aims to describe Arabic language learning based on contextual approach and contextual textbook as well as factors that influence the success of the Arabic learning process at the UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research used a qualitative approach with case study method through data collection including observation, interview and documentation. The results showed that Arabic language learning based on contextual learning is suitable for universities, supported by using of interactive teaching materials equipped with exercises, as well as an intense duration of time so that it is very effective to improve the skills of student’s UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. This research strengthens the importance of using daily contextual conditions in Arabic language learning so that students can practice their daily language skills with the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The challenges of education during the Corona Virus Diseases  (COVID-19) pandemic are increasingly complex. The internalization process of literacy activities needs to be improved in an effort to improve the quality of human resources in the global realm. This research aims to explore strategies in improving the literacy of students during COVID-19 and the problems faced by teachers during the literacy development process at Mutiara Hati Elementary School in Malang, Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods. The data source was taken using observation, interview and documentation with data analysis techniques using triangulation techniques with three stages; collection, reduction, and conclusion. The results showed four strategies can be done to improve literacy activities that, strategies used can be done to improve the literacy culture of students through four ways; webinar activities, ongoing mentoring, work monitoring and distribution of students' literacy results. While in the problematic aspects faced by teachers there are three aspects, namely the limitations of competency in designing media, the limitations of discussion space on the work of students and the lack of supporting facilities to monitor the work of students. The findings of this study have manifestly shown that the integration of media, strategies and competencies of ideal teachers can provide positive output for creativity and critical thought processes of students in making work. This study recommends further research to test the effectiveness of literacy activities and the use of broader research methods of reach and problematic solving faced by teachers.

Abstract

This project aims to create an Islamic-centered parenting education module implemented in Youth Family Guidance (Bina Keluarga Remaja - BKR) programs to help parents educate and equip their teenagers for future success. The module was created by gathering parenting education resources for teenagers from an Islamic viewpoint that align with the current content in BKR activities. The Islamic content is incorporated into all BKR operations. The module was developed using the three stages of the Plomp model: preliminary study, prototype development, and assessment. This research has resulted in an Islamic-centered parenting module called "How to Educate Muslim Teenagers in Reaching the Future". The validators deemed the module very valid and practical after testing. The module has been partially implemented and feedback from observers and informants suggests that it can effectively enhance parents' comprehension and abilities in educating and caring for adolescent children during BKR activities.

Abstract

The Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic created the challenges for Arabic learning process in Indonesian Islamic College, which is one of the important subjects for support communication in foreign languages. This study aims to describe the steps of Arabic learning at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang and classify the implementation of Arabic learning in the HOTS, MOTS, or LOTS categories. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study research design. The data collection include observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that; 1) Arabic learning at UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang adopt integration between media, methods and material based on online learning platforms or social media, 2) Arabic learning during the COVID-19 emergency include the HOTS category, this is showed when students can create conversations by integrating technology in the learning process, applying sentence structure and designing innovations in Arabic communication. The findings of this study illustrate that Arabic learning in Indonesia through technology integration can produce creativity, innovation and increase motivation in the language learning process in the COVID-19 emergency.

Abstract

Ketapang is a village in Limau sub-district, Tanggamus district, Lampung province, Indonesia, inhabited by Sundanese speakers. This condition contributes to the variation of Arabic pronunciation, causing irregularities or difficulties known as disturbances. Linguistic phenomenon as a form of language development, something important happens in Arabic. This research was to study phonological interference forms in Sundanese. This research used a qualitative descriptive method with data collection methods through interviews, observations and hearing that comes to the speech of the Ketapang community. The results showed several changes in the phonological change phenomenon, namely phoneme changes and word changes. This study contributes to the knowledge of language development that occurs from phonological disorders in Sundanese to Arabic, thus providing a great deal of knowledge about Arabic linguistic studies.

Abstract

Productive language skills are an indicator of student success in using foreign languages. The lack of media allows students to interact with native speakers. It encourages researchers to analyze holistically how to use the HelloTalk application as an alternative media for increasing writing skills. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design—data collection techniques through observation, interview, and documentation. The data collection tools are based on pre-test and post-test scores, observation sheets, and a list of questions from interviews. The analysis technique used is Milles Huberman's theory. The results show that the HelloTalk application can provide opportunities for students to increase creativity and critical thinking. The ability students' showed an increase in score to 75.3. This result is indicated by using chat themes in broader writing skills and interaction with native speakers to explore information on the language being learned. In addition, the process of correcting writing errors can be corrected immediately. The findings of this research indicate that using the HelloTalk application increases the intensity of Arabic writing skills. This study recommends further research to test the effectiveness of the HelloTalk application against other foreign language skills with more varied research methods.

Abstract

Arabic teachers' pedagogical competence in understanding the concept of HOTS-based learning is still minimal. On that basis, increasing teacher pedagogical competence through HOTS-based training aims to encourage teachers to have the capacity to internalize HOTS-based values in the learning process. So, this research aims to identify the increasing teacher pedagogical competence through the Modul based on the HOTS. The service sample consisted of 25 teachers from Limapuluh Kota Regency and Payakumbuh City and the  used a Service Learning (SL) approach for the method. The stages of this activity consist of three parts, namely: 1) The need for pedagogical competence is achieved 100% through the results of discussions and case studies as well as distribution of question instruments on Google Form; 2) the mentoring stage includes steps to analyze KI and KD, formulate learning objectives, prepare research instruments and design HOTS-based modules; 3) while the effectiveness level of this assistance reaches 100%. The impact obtained is increasing insight, establishing good and communicative relationships between Arabic language teachers at Madrasah Aliyah level and the birth of Arabic language teaching modules that can be used in Arabic language learning for the 2023/2024 academic year.Abstrak: Kompetensi pedagogi guru bahasa Arab dalam memahami konsep pembelajaran berbasis HOTS masih minim. Atas dasar itu, peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru melalui pelatihan berbasis HOTS bertujuan untuk mendorong guru mempunyai kapasitas internalisasi nilai-nilai berbasis HOTS dalam proses pembelajaran. Maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru melalui modul berbasis HOTS. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 25 orang guru Kabupaten Limapuluh Kota dan Kota Payakumbuh dan menggunakan pendekatan Service Learning (SL) sebagai metodenya. Tahapan kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga bagian, yaitu: 1) kebutuhan kompetensi pedagogik tercapai 100% melalui hasil diskusi dan studi kasus serta pembagian instrumen soal pada Google Form; 2) tahap pendampingan meliputi langkah menganalisis KI dan KD, merumuskan tujuan pembelajaran, menyiapkan instrumen penelitian dan merancang modul berbasis HOTS; 3) sedangkan tingkat efektivitas bantuan ini mencapai 100%. Dampak yang diperoleh adalah bertambahnya wawasan, terjalinnya hubungan yang baik dan komunikatif antar guru bahasa Arab tingkat Madrasah Aliyah dan lahirnya modul pengajaran bahasa Arab yang dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran bahasa Arab tahun ajaran 2023/2024.
