Abstract

Religious moderation is a key element in fostering tolerance and harmony in a diverse society, and its integration into Islamic education is crucial for achieving these goals. This study aimed to develop a curriculum model based on religious moderation for madrasas, utilizing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) to ensure its comprehensive integration. The research involved identifying existing practices at MTs Pembangunan UIN Jakarta, designing a curriculum model incorporating religious moderation into intracurricular, extracurricular, co-curricular, and madrasa culture activities, and piloting the developed module. The results revealed that while MTs Pembangunan UIN Jakarta did not explicitly implement religious moderation in its character and moral development programs, the school exhibited implicit practices aligned with these values. The curriculum developed in this study was assessed as highly valid in terms of content, presentation, graphics, and language, with a particular focus on its practical implementation in fostering students’ attitudes toward religious moderation. The findings emphasize the importance of a multi-faceted approach to embedding religious moderation in all aspects of madrasa life. This study provides valuable insights into how curriculum design can be an effective tool for promoting religious moderation, with implications for improving Islamic education by integrating these values into both formal and informal educational settings.

Abstract

The main goal of foreign language learning is to make students skilled in using the language both orally and in writing, as well as learning Arabic. However, there are many factors that cause students difficulties in the learning process. One of the contributing factors is the existence of various student characters in the classroom which makes teachers have to be smart in choosing learning methods. One of the appropriate strategies as an effort to overcome these problems is to use the "Clustering Learning Method". This research uses a qualitative approach, with a case study method; data is collected through observation and documentation. Data analysis in this study uses the theory of "Miles and Huberman". The results showed that the application of the clustering method could improve speaking skills in learning Arabic for class XI students of SMAN 10 Malang City. The improvement in question, namely the improvement of the process and student learning outcomes. This increase was seen in the learning process of the first and second meetings. Based on the results of the study, the researcher suggested to teachers that learning Arabic to improve speaking skills through the clustering method could be used as an alternative for teachers to teach other materials.

Abstract

The high intensity of use of technological media is increasing rapidly. This encourages teachers to use animation media for learning Arabic in understanding meaning through a contextual learning system. On that basis, this research aims to test the effectiveness of using animation media on understanding meaning through the implementation of contextual learning. This research uses a mix method design with a quantitative approach to test the effectiveness of learning Arabic using animation media, while the qualitative approach serves to analyze the meaning produced by students from animation media based on contextual learning. The data used were the scores of 36 Arabic language and literature study program students at UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, while the analysis technique used was a t-test with SPSS 16.00 and Milles and Hubberman theory for qualitative data analysis. The results of the research show that the use of animation media to understand meaning through the implementation of contextual learning is effective in increasing students' grades, while in the process of understanding denotative and connotative meaning there are 15 sentences. Research findings show that the use of animation media can provide students with the opportunity to analyze meaning contextually and creatively in determining the object of study. This research is limited to the use of samples, so the researcher recommends further research to use a research design with more varied objects and samples.

Abstract

Purpose – The limited time allocated for Arabic language instruction within the Ministry of Religious Affairs curriculum encouraged Diniyyah Puteri Padang Panjang to implement curriculum integration to enhance students’ Arabic proficiency. This study aims to explain the implementation of the integration between the 2019 Ministerial Decree Curriculum (KMA) and the Diniyyah Arabic Center (DAC) Curriculum. Design/methods/approach – This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with four Arabic teachers, the principal, and the head of DAC, as well as documentation techniques. Data analysis was conducted through data collection, condensation, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings – The findings reveal that the curriculum integration at Diniyyah Puteri adopts a Nested Curriculum model characterized by: (1) Integrated learning objectives, including Arabic language skills and linguistic elements; (2) Learning materials that include both the official Ministry textbooks and supplementary resources such as Arabic camp programs, vocabulary enhancement, and muhadatsah mastery; (3) Time allocation combining two hours of formal instruction with non-formal learning within school and dormitory settings; (4) Learning activities that span classroom, dormitory, and school environment practices. The integration model contributes significantly to improved speaking and reading skills, as evidenced by students' increased interaction with native speakers and their readiness for further studies in the Middle East. Research implications – Despite these advancements, the integration model faces challenges related to the lack of a structured instructional system, indicating the need for systematic development in curriculum design and implementation frameworks.
