Abstract

Character education serves as a crucial solution to address the moral degradation among teenagers, prompting the Padang city government to implement the Didikan Subuh program aimed at reinforcing students' character. This research endeavors to analyze the implementation of Didikan Subuh activities, along with the supporting and inhibiting factors. Employing a qualitative research design, the study involved observation of the Didikan Subuh program across four locations, interviews with teachers, and documentation review, including the curriculum of Didikan Subuh. Data analysis was conducted based on Miles and Huberman's theory. The research revealed several key findings: firstly, the implementation of Didikan Subuh in Padang city varies across locations in terms of purpose, activity materials, and evaluation methods. Secondly, supporting factors include an adequate number of certified teachers, a relatively large student population, and sufficient infrastructure availability. However, inhibiting factors such as adverse weather conditions, conflicting events, and lack of discipline among guidance teachers pose challenges. Additionally, there is a shortage of creative and responsible guidance teachers, along with insufficient materials for Didikan Subuh activities. The study underscores that despite its challenges, the implementation of Didikan Subuh has the potential to strengthen character education among students.

Entering the era of society 5.0 has brought changes. This is great for educational institutions that rely on digital technology as a means of achieving national education goals. However, despite the many benefits of technology in the world of education, the character of students is slowly starting to be eroded due to unfriendly access to information. This creates various challenges and opportunities for teachers to provide religious character education to students through digital technology in the era of society 5.0. This study uses a qualitative library research method. Literature data was collected through various sources of books, scientific articles and using content analysis techniques. The results of the study show that the challenges of religious character education in the era of society 5.0 consist of minimal parental knowledge about character education, no parental control, limited and unequal resources, technological innovation that causes a loss of control, and no interaction and socialization. Meanwhile, opportunities for religious character education in the era of society 5.0 consist of supporting technology, teacher competence, varied strategies, and building competence, innovation and student achievement. This study recommends further research to explore character education through more diverse methods and wider research objects.

Abstract

This study encourages the disclosure of cultural values contained in the book al-‘Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik which is used in learning maharah kalam at the middle school level. Teaching cultural-based maharah kalam is important in learning Arabic. Cultural values contained in textbooks must be adapted to the way they are taught to students. Data collection was carried out using in-depth observations, interviews, and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique was based on Miles and Huberman's theory which encompassed data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusion. The data obtained were validated with data triangulation techniques and data sources. This study showed that the cultural values adopted from the book al-‘Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik in Junior High School of Dar el-Iman are associated with what students have done every day, such as saying greetings when they first meet, not shaking hands between men and women, getting used to good pronunciation of sentences, and etc. It is necessary to test the effectiveness of the use of al-‘Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik textbook in improving students' maharah kalam, to become a reference for teachers in choosing the right maharah kalam textbook.
