Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) The effect of self-confidence on the ability of public speaking; (2) The effect of communication skills on public speaking skills; (3) The effect of self confidence and communication ability on public speaking ability of Elementary School Teacher Education Students 2019, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Mataram. This research is an ex post facto study using a quantitative data approach. The subjects in this study were students of class 2019, amounting to 345 and then taken as many as 38% of the population of around 131 students. Analysis Methods of data collection using a questionnaire. Test the validity of the instrument using Product Moment correlation and reliability testing using Alpha Cronbach. Data analysis uses descriptive statistical analysis; analysis prerequisite test consisting of normality test, linearity test, and multicollinearity test; and regression analysis consisting of a simple linear regression test and multiple linear regression test. The results showed: (1) There was a positive and significant effect of self- confidence on the public speaking ability. (2) There is a positive and significant influence of communication ability on the public speaking ability. (3) There is a positive and significant influence of self-confidence and communication ability on the public speaking ability.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan kelekatan diantara mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran daring di masa pandemi Covid-19. Kajian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi pembelajaran daring yang menyebabkan keterbatasan mahasiswa dalam berinteraksi dan bersosialisasi secara tatap muka sehingga hubungan kelekatan diantara mahasiswa menjadi terhambat. Penelitian ini di kaji dengan pendekatan Study kasus, dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melaui survei yang dilakukan kepada mahasiswa baru program studi pendidikan PKN FKIP Universitas Mataram kemudian diolah melalui proses pengumpulan, penyajian dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Ada beberapa temuan yang menjadi dasar mengapa pola pembelajaran daring menghambat proses hubungan kelekatan diantaranya; 1) sebagian besar mahasiswa belum pernah bertemu secara langsung dengan teman sekelasnya sehingga hanya sebagian kecil dari mereka yang saling mengenal, 2) Mahasiswa tidak memiliki teman dekat di kelasnya sehingga sebagian besar dari mereka belum pernah kumpul ataupun bermain bareng; 3) meskipun komunikasi diantara mereka masih berjalan baik akan tetapi semua dilakukan hanya melalui media sosial atau Chating. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa hubungan kelekatan diantara mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran daring tidak terbentuk karena mahasiswa tidak memiliki cukup ruang dan waktu untuk mengenali lebih dalam. Kondisi tersebut tidak memberikan kesempatan mahasiswa untuk saling mengidentifikasi, sehingga tidak terjadi proses simpati, dan empati dan akhirnya hubungan kelekatan tidak terbentuk.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the results of the exploration of ethnomathematics of Sasak culture that can be used as a source of learning mathematics. This type of research is exploratory qualitative research with an ethnographic approach. This research focuses on buildings, crafts, arts, and traditional snacks. The research instrument is the researcher himself. While the method of data collection by interview, field studies, and documentation. Data analysis techniques with triangulation are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that Sasak cultural products can be used as a source of learning mathematics, especially on the elements of geometry including rectangles, triangles, trapezoid, circles, rhombus, laying-kites, cones, cylinders, and pyramid. Learning resources derived from Sasak culture, if properly utilized, will create meaningful mathematics learning for students.

Abstract

Medicinal plants are returning viral during the Covid-19 pandemic. The absence of effective vaccines and drugs to ward off Covid-19 has increased interest in consuming medicinal plants. The trend of consuming medicinal plants during a pandemic cannot be separated from the role of the millennial generation. The millennial generation has more capabilities than the older generation in accessing and disseminating information. The problem is whether the millennial generation uses technology to support literacy about medicinal plants? How is the use of medicinal plants among the millennial generation? This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection through surveys. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The number of respondents involved was 90 people. The characteristics of the research respondents are population aged 20-43 years in 2020. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the level of literacy of the millennial generation towards medicinal plants is low. The level of literacy is inversely proportional to the quite high interest in consuming medicinal plants. Millennial generations tend to consume medicinal plants just because they follow the trend. The millennial generation is more affected by everything viral on social media. The willingness to find the truth of information is still low. There is a gap between the level of literacy and the consumption interest of the millennial generation in consuming medicinal plants during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Abstract

Mobile learning merupakan salah satu alternatif model pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ). Terlebih lagi dengan misi merdeka belajar dari pemerintah membuat mobile learning semakin dikedepankan. Hal ini tidak terlepas dari berbagai kemudahan yang ditawarkan dalam model mobile learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap penggunaan mobile learning dalam perkuliahan. Penelitian menggunakan desain deskriptif kuantitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan survei. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket. Subjek penelitian mahasiswa PGSD Universitas Mataram. Jumlah responden yang terlibat dalam penelitian sejumlah 158 mahasiswa. Tahapan penelitian dimulai dari pembuatan instrumen, pengumpulan data, klasifikasi, tabulasi, penyajian, dan deskripsi kesimpulan. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Masalah yang dikaji adalah apakah mahasiswa dapat merasakan berbagai kemudahan yang ditawarkan dalam pembelajaran berbasis mobile? Hasil survei dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masih ada responden yang mengaku mengalami kesulitan dalam penggunaan mobile learning. Beberapa aspek kemudahan dalam pembelajaran berbasis mobile belum sepenuhnya dirasakan mahasiswa terutama terkait dengan fleksibilitas tempat dan kemudahan penguasaan materi kuliah. Dua aspek ini berkaitan erat dengan koneksi internet dan atmosfir akademik. Kemudahan yang telah dapat dirasakan adalah aspek komunikasi, informasi dan fleksibilitas waktu.AbstractMobile learning is an alternative model of distance learning (PJJ). What's more, with the government's mission to be independent of learning, mobile learning is being put forward. This is inseparable from the various conveniences offered in the mobile learning model. This study aims to describe students' perceptions regarding the use of mobile learning in lectures. The research used a quantitative descriptive design. Data collection using surveys. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The research subjects were PGSD students of Mataram University. The number of respondents involved in the study was 158 students. The research stages started with making instruments, collecting data, classifying, tabulating, presenting, and describing conclusions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The problem studied is whether students can feel the various facilities offered in mobile-based learning? The survey results in this study indicate that there are still respondents who claim to experience difficulties in using mobile learning. Some aspects of the convenience in mobile-based learning have not been fully felt by students, especially related to the flexibility of the place and the ease of mastering course material. These two aspects are closely related to the internet connection and the academic atmosphere. The ease that can be felt is the aspects of communication, information, and flexibility of time.

Abstract

During the pandemic, learning at elementary schools encountered many obstacles, including those related to literacy. One indicator of basic literacy skills is that having reading fluency and comprehension. During the pandemic, how are students' basic literacy skills? This study aimed to determine the profile of students' basic literacy skills during the pandemic. This study was conducted at one of the public elementary schools in Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. This study was survey research that administered a test as the instrument. The research subjects were 110 students who were selected saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The survey results showed that 7% of the students were at the beginner level is 7%, while 10% of students were at the letter level. Then, 11% of the students were at the word level; 12% of them were at the paragraph level; 12% of students were at story one level as much as 12%, and 48% of students were at story level. Most of the students were not fluent in reading and could not understand the reading content. Students who were fluent in reading and able to understand the text were less than half of the population or only 48% of 110 students. These data indicated a decline in students' basic literacy skills during learning in the pandemic era.

Abstract

Literacy is not only the responsibility of formal education institutions. One form of education in society is a community library. This study aimed to describe the roles and problems faced by community library forums in enhancing literacy culture. The subject in this study was a community reading garden as a part of a community library forum. Data were collected in Kabupaten Lombok Tengah. This study applied a qualitative research design with a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through surveys, observation, and in-depth interviews. Then, the data were presented in the form of tables, diagrams, and word descriptions. The researchers extended the observation time in order to achieve the validity of findings. The main problems found in this study included: what are the challenges faced by community library forums? What is the role of the community library forum in enhancing the literacy culture of children in Lombok Tengah? The results revealed that the challenges faced by community library forums included problems of regeneration, inadequate facilities, lack of book collections, low literacy culture, and non-optimal support from the government. The role of libraries in enhancing literacy culture was as a facilitator, motivator, creator, and pioneer of the literacy movement in rural areas. With the presence of the community library, the children felt more excited about reading.

Abstract

The content of history materials should not be ignored in learning at elementary schools. However, in reality, history has always been regarded as a second-level lesson that is not very important. One of the causes is the teacher's ignorance of the educational values contained in the content of history materias. This study aimed to analyze history content in SD/MI thematic books. The object of this study was the 2013 curriculum integrated thematic book revised edition of 2017/2018. The method in this study was content analysis. The values found in the content of history materials at elementary schools included educational, instructive, recreational, and inspirational values. These values were contained in theme 5 “my hero” at grade IV, theme 7 “events in life” at grade V, and theme 3 “figures and inventions” at grade VI. In addition,, several character values were also found including heroism, nationalism, cooperation, unyielding, vigilant, and willingness to sacrifice for the sake of people. This study demonstrated the benefits of studying history for students. The 2013 curriculum integrated thematic book was very suitable to be used as a medium in studying history material at elementary school.

Abstract

The ability to distinguish series and parallel circuits is one of the core abilities that must be mastered before learning various electrical circuits, from simple electrical circuits to complex electrical circuits taught to students at the elementary school to secondary school level. Therefore, this study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between student majors during high school and the origin of schools on the ability of students to distinguish series and parallel circuits. This research is quantitative research with an ex-post-facto approach and conducted on students at the University of Mataram Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program with a proportion of 119 respondents (Science Major), 61 people (Social Science Major), 6 people (Language Major) and 7 respondents coming from vocational high schools. Data is collected using test techniques provided through Google Form. Data were analysed using the biserial point correlation. The hypothesis is tested by comparing the value of the biserial point correlation with the value of r product moment. The results showed that the biserial point value between Science Major - Social Science Major, Science Major – Language Major, Social Science Major – Language Major and Senior High School - Vocational School were all below the r product moment value so it can be concluded that there was no significant relationship between the majors of students during high school and the origin of the school's ability to distinguish series and parallel circuits.
