Abstract

Abstract

Background: Amid rising sedentary behaviors and non-communicable diseases among adolescents globally, physical activity levels continue to decline—exacerbated by lifestyle shifts driven by globalization. While social support is often considered a key enabler of behavior change, limited empirical evidence clarifies its actual influence on adolescent physical activity, particularly in diverse sociocultural settings like Indonesia. This study addresses that gap. Research Objectives: This study aimed to examine the relationship between perceived social support and physical activity among adolescents in two different school settings. Methods: A correlational quantitative design with convenience sampling was employed, involving 1.046 adolescents aged 12–18 years from two schools with differing neighborhood contexts. Social support was assessed using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and physical activity levels were measured using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Data were analyzed using Spearman rank correlation via SPSS. Finding/Results: The results of data analysis using the Spearman rank test showed no significant relationship between physical activity and all components of social support (family, friends, and others) p> 0.05 (p=0.222, r=-0.038 for family; p=0.143, r=0.045 for friends; p=0.717, r=0.011 for significant others; p=0.779, r=0.009 for overall social support). Conclusion: These results indicate that social support is not the main factor influencing physical activity participation in adolescents. This study showed no significant relationship between the two variables. Other factors such as physical literacy, intrinsic motivation, school environment, and health conditions may have a more dominant role. Future studies are expected to explore these factors through longitudinal and experimental approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and learning outcomes of Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PESH) in high school students. Emotional intelligence is an individual’s ability to recognize, understand, and manage their own emotions and those of others. In the context of PESH learning, emotional intelligence is thought to play an important role in supporting learning success, both in cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects. The research method used was a correlational survey with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of grade X students who were selected randomly. The research instrument used an emotional intelligence questionnaire and documentation of PESH learning outcomes. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and the three aspects of learning outcomes. Students with high levels of emotional intelligence tend to have a better understanding of the material, more optimal motor skills, and more positive attitudes and interests towards PESH activities. These findings indicate that strengthening emotional intelligence needs to be a concern in the learning process, especially in physical education which requires emotional involvement, social interaction, and active participation.

Abstract

The increasing trend of documenting physical activity on social media has transformed exercise into a form of digital content, yet its influence on youth exercise interest remains underexplored. This study aims to examine the effect of digital content creation motivation on exercise interest among young people. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey of 250 respondents aged 15–30 years, selected through purposive sampling. All participants were active social media users who had experience producing or engaging with exercise-related content. The research instrument consisted of 33 items adapted from motivation and exercise behavior theories, with 24 items retained after validity and reliability testing. Data were analyzed using SPSS through descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, and simple linear regression. The results indicate that digital content creation motivation has a positive and significant effect on exercise interest (β = 0.566, p < 0.001), accounting for 32% of the variance (R² = 0.320). This finding suggests that young people tend to show greater interest in exercising when their physical activities can be documented and shared as digital content. The magnitude of the explained variance indicates that digital content creation motivation is a meaningful predictor of exercise interest. These findings conclude that digital content creation functions as a psychological and social stimulus that enhances youth engagement in physical activity. The study contributes theoretically to digital behavior research and offers practical implications for developing social media–based health campaigns to promote active lifestyles among young people.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence and effectiveness of the application of CCY (YouTube Channel and Content) learning media on the learning outcomes of volleyball skills of grade VIII students in the subject of Physical Education at Junior high school 1 Pasirjambu. This study uses a quasi-experimental  method with a quantitative approach involving two groups, namely the experimental class that is given treatment using CCY learning media and the control class that uses conventional learning. The research instrument is a volleyball basic technique skill test which includes bottom passing, top passing, and bottom serve, referring to the NCSU Volleyball Skills Test Battery Volleyball Skills Test Battery. Data analysis was carried out through the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, Levene homogeneity test,  independent sample t-test, N-Gain test, and covariate analysis (ANCOVA) with the help of the IBM SPSS application. The results of the study showed that the data was distributed normally and homogeneously. Independent sample t-tests showed significant differences between the learning outcomes of volleyball skills of students in the experimental class and the control class (p < 0.05). The results of the N-Gain test showed a higher increase in learning outcomes in the experimental class with the medium to high improvement category, compared to the control class in the low to medium category. ANCOVA's analysis strengthens the finding that the application of CCY learning media has a significant effect on improving students' volleyball skills after being controlled by initial grades. The conclusion of this study is that CCY learning media is effective and has a positive effect in improving students' volleyball skill learning achievements. This media can be used as an innovative alternative in Physical Education learning to optimally improve students' motivation, movement understanding, and skills.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the contribution of sport in improving individual moral values through a systematic literature review approach. This study evaluates various relevant literature to identify the relationship between participation in sports activities and the development of moral values, such as honesty, responsibility, cooperation and respect. Through systematic selection and analysis of data from journals, books and research reports, it was found that sport can be an effective medium in moral formation, especially through social interaction, healthy competition and application of game rules. Factors such as the role of the coach, the sporting environment and the type of sport undertaken also influence the extent to which moral values can be developed. This finding also shows that the integration of moral values in sports does not happen automatically but requires a structured approach and awareness from all parties involved. Therefore, it is important to design training programs that do not only focus on the physical aspect but also emphasize the learning of ethical values explicitly. The results of this research provide insight for educational practitioners, sports coaches, and policy makers to integrate moral values into sports programs as a character building strategy.

Abstract

Physical education in schools not only plays a role in improving students’ physical fitness and motor skills but also contributes to their psychological development, including social anxiety. Social anxiety can hinder interaction, self-confidence, and students’ participation in learning activities. Martial arts extracurricular activities such as Tarung Derajat are believed to provide a medium for mental development through physical training, discipline, structured social interaction, and experiences of achievement in group activities. This study aimed to analyze the effect of Tarung Derajat extracurricular participation on students’ social anxiety SMA. The study employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 54 students participating in the Tarung Derajat extracurricular program. The instrument used was a Likert-scale social anxiety questionnaire that had met validity and reliability requirements. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test, and paired sample t-test with a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed a significant difference between students’ social anxiety scores before and after participating in the training program (p < 0.05). Social anxiety scores decreased after training with an effect size greater than 0.80 (large category). It is concluded that Tarung Derajat extracurricular training significantly reduces students’ social anxiety and is recommended as a school-based non-academic developmental activity.
