Abstract

AbstractObjective: To determine the factors contributing to treatment dropout in tuberculosis (TB) patients. Methods: This study utilized a case-control design with a sample size of 81 participants. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were conducted, and an accidental sampling technique was employed. The study was conducted at the Public Health Center/Puskesmas Medan Sunggal, in the Medan Sunggal District, City of Medan, and North Sumatra Province. The research took place from February to April 2023.Results: The research analysis revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and family support (p<0.05). However, there was no significant relationship found between drug side effects and treatment dropout (p>0.05). This lack of significance may be attributed to the consistent occurrence of side effects throughout the different stages of treatment. Conclusion: In conclusion, this research demonstrates a significant correlation between patients’ knowledge, family support, and treatment dropout (p<0.05). Conversely, no significant correlation was found between drug side effects and treatment dropout (p>0.05).Keywords: Drug side effect, pulmonary TB, TB treatment drop out

Abstract

Abstract Women’s participation in local government is a crucial indicator of inclusive and gender-equitable development. This study aims to analyze the roles and participation of women within the bureaucratic structure of Muara Enim Regency, as well as the enabling and constraining factors influencing their involvement in public policy decision-making. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using literature review, policy document analysis, questionnaires, and interviews with female civil servants in local government institutions. The findings reveal that women’s representation in strategic bureaucratic positions remains limited despite the presence of national and regional affirmative action policies. Structural constraints such as patriarchal culture, gender stereotypes, and restricted access to leadership training continue to impede women’s advancement. Conversely, affirmative regulations, increasing levels of women’s education, and strong social networks serve as key enabling factors. The study emphasizes the need to strengthen gender-responsive regional policies, expand leadership capacity-building for female civil servants, and cultivate an inclusive bureaucratic environment. These findings are expected to contribute as policy references for local governments and gender advocates in promoting women’s roles in equality-oriented development. Abstract

It has been recognized that women are twice as likely to experience depression compared to men. In addition to biological vulnerability, there is also a combined effect of bearing the burden of household responsibilities while contributing financially through employment. One coping strategy that helps women endure these challenges is meditation, which in Islam includes the practice of dhikr (remembrance of God). This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of double burden stress in women and how psychoreligious practices can help reduce stress levels. The study employed a prospective cohort design, tracking the respondents' dhikr habits over a 21-day period. On the final day, general stress levels and stress related to their professional roles were measured. The study involved 69 women participants aged 17 and above, comprising housewives as well as women who held dual roles as both teachers and students. Stress levels were assessed using the DASS-42 instrument. Respondents recorded the number of times they missed the istighfar recitation at specific times of the day on a control card. Findings indicated that women who are mothers and simultaneously hold dual roles as teachers and students are more vulnerable to stress. Further correlation tests revealed that missing istighfar after the Fajr prayer, before the Asr prayer, and after the Isha prayer was associated with increased stress levels. The predictive model showed that collectively missing istighfar at these three times (after Fajr, throughout daily activities, and the total missed times) significantly increased the likelihood of stress among women. The study concludes that women who have dual roles as mothers and teachers or students are the most vulnerable group to stress. Moreover, the more frequently istighfar is neglected at the recommended times, the higher the stress levels experienced by women.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing prevalence of stress in women influenced by domestic, social, and professional pressures. At the same time, psychoreligious approaches based on hadith-derived worship practices remain underexplored in scientific research. This study aims to analyze the effect of istighfar and dhikr on stress reduction in women through a psychoreligious approach, integrating the study of the Prophet’s hadith. The research method employed is a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative analysis, involving 28 teachers, 56 students, 50 mothers, and 50 wives who participated in religious activities at the Fadhilah Quran Foundation. The results showed that the practice of istighfar and dhikr contributed significantly to stress reduction through mechanisms of releasing psychological burdens, improving emotional regulation, and strengthening spiritual awareness, thereby impacting affective stability. Quantitative analysis confirmed a decrease in mean stress before and after the practice with a strong level of significance. At the same time, qualitative data revealed the formation of consistent subjective experiences of calm, focus, and positive reinterpretation of life’s pressures. These findings confirm that integrating istighfar and dhikr can serve as an effective psychoreligious intervention model for women’s empowerment and provide theoretical contributions to the development of Islamic psychology and hadith studies.
