Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian in adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tentang jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru- guru Taman Kanak- kanak Aura Sukma Insani dalam mengajar Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa kedua. Penelitian ini melingkupi jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru-guru dalam mengajar, alasan guru-guru dalam menggunakan jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi dalam mengajar, dan pedapat siswa mengenai jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar. Dalam penelitian ini, data dikumpulkan oleh peneliti sebagai instrumen utama, dan dibantu oleh beberapa alat, seperti perekam video, lembar observasi, dan pedoman wawancara. Data mengenai jenis dari strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru-guru dikumpulkan memalui proses merekam dan mengamati proses belajar mengajar, sedangkan pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan informasi tentang alasan guru-guru dalam menggunakan tipe-tipe strategi komunikasi dalam mengajar, dan pendapat siswa mengenai strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 15 jenis dari strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru. Strategi perubahan kode adalah yang paling sering digunakan oleh guru. Alasan dari guru menggunakan strategi tersebut adalah untuk membantu guru-guru dalam menjelaskan materi kepada siswa, mempermudah siswa dalam memahami materi, dan mencegah terjadinya kesalahpahaman antara siswa dan guru saat berkomunikasi. Data juga menunjukkan bahwa guru mendapatkan persepsi yang positif dari siswanya dalam menggunakan strategi komunikasi selama proses belajar mengajar. Kata Kunci : Strategi Komunikasi, guru bahasa Inggris, dan proses belajar mengajar. The purpose of this study was to describe the communication strategies used by kindergarten teachers of Aura Sukma Insani in teaching English as a second language. It includes the types of communication strategies used by the teachers in teaching, the reasons of the teachers in using such types of communication strategies and the students’ perception toward communication strategies used by the teachers. The subjects of this study were kindergarten teachers of Aura Sukma Insani Kindergarten. The data were collected by using the researcher as the main instrument helped by some devices, namely audio-video recorder, observation sheets, and the interview guides.The types of communication strategies were gathered by observing and recording the teacher during teaching and learning process, while the interview guides were used to gather the data about the teacher’s reason in using such types of communication strategies and the students’ perception toward the communication strategies used by the teachers. The results of this study showed that there were 15 types of communication strategies used by the teachers. Code switching strategy was the most frequently used by the teachers. The reasons of the teachers used those strategies were to help the teachers in delivering the material to the students, made the students easier to understand the material, and avoid the communication breakdown among teachers and the students. The data also showed that the teachers got positive perception from their students in applying Communication Strategies during teaching and learning process. keyword : Communication Strategies, English teacher, teaching and learning process

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan awalan dan akhiran infleksi dan awalan dan akhiran derivasi dari Dialek Banyuseri di desa Banyuseri.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif.Tiga contoh informan dari Dialek Banyuseri dipilih berdasarkan kriteria yang ditentukan. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan tiga teknik, yaitu: observasi, teknik perekaman, dan teknik wawancara (mendengarkan dan mencatat). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada dua jenis awalan di Dialek Banyuseri yang termasuk derivasi, awalan {mә-} dan{m-}. Ada enam jenis awalan di Dialek Banyuseri yang termasuk infleksi, awalan {n-}, {ŋ-}{-ñ}, {m-}{-Λ}, dan {-kΛ}. Ada dua jenis akhiran di Dialek Banyuseri yang termasuk derivasi, akhiran {-Λŋ} dan {-In}. Ada empat jenis akhiran di Dialek Banyuseri yang termasuk infleksi, akhiran {ē-},{-nē}, {-ә} dan{-Λŋ}.Awalan dan akhiran di Dialek Banyuseri yang termasuk derivasi adalah awalan {mә-} dan{m-}dan akhiran {-Λŋ} dan {-In}. Awalan dan akhiran di Dialek Banyuseri yang temasuk infleksi adalah awalan {n-}, {ŋ-},{-ñ}, {m-}{-Λ}, dan {-kΛ}dan akhiran {ē-},{-nē}, {-ә} dan{-Λŋ}.Kata Kunci : Awalan dan Akhiran Derivasi, Awalan dan Akhiran Infleksi, Dialek Banyuseri The study aimed at describing inflectional prefixes and suffixes and derivational prefixes and suffixes of Banyuseri Dialect in Banyuseri village. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. Three informants sample of Banyuseri Dialect were chosen based on a set of criteria. The data were collected based on three techniques, namely: observation, recording technique, and interview (listening and noting) technique. The results of the study showed that there were two kinds of derivational prefixes in Banyuseri Dialect; prefix {mә-} and {m-}. There were six kinds of inflectional prefixes in Banyuseri Dialect; prefix {n-}, {ŋ-},{-ñ}, {m-}{-Λ}, and {-kΛ}. There were two kinds of derivational suffixes in Banyuseri Dialect; suffix {-Λŋ} and {-In}.There were four kinds of inflectional suffixes; suffix {ē-},{-nē}, {-ә} and{-Λŋ}. Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah sebuah studi experimen yang menyelidiki efek dari penggunaan scripted song-based audio media pada kompetensi bahasa Inggris yang dimiliki oleh siswa kelas 5 di gugus 1 Kecamatan Kubutambaha, Buleleng-Bali pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Desain penelitian ini adalah post-test only control group design dan menggunakan teknik random sampling untuk menentukan sample penelitian. SDN 1 Kubutambahan ditentukan sebagai grup experimen yang kemudian diberikan perlakuan berupa scripted song-based audio media dan SDN 2 Kubutambahan ditentukan sebagai grup control yang kemudian diberikan perlakuan berupa conventional teaching. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukan bahwa grup experimen mencapai kompetensi bahasa Igggris yang lebih tinggi daripada grup control.itu dibuktikan oleh rata-rata nilai mereka dimana siswa grup experimen memperoleh nilai 90.17 dan siswa grup control memperoleh nilai 79.85. Hasil dari t-test juga membuktikan bahwa scripted song-based audio media memberikan efek signifikan terhadap kompetensi bahasa Inggris yang dimiliki oleh siswa-siswa kelas 5 di Subdisktrik 1, Kubutambahan.Kata Kunci : media audio, kompetensi bahasa Inggris, scripted song, This study was an experimental study which investigated the effect of scripted song-based audio media on the fifth grade students’ English competence in Kubutambahan Sub-district 1, Buleleng-Bali in academic year 2014/2015. The design of this study was post-test only control group design and used a random sampling technique to determine the sample. SDN 1 Kubutambahan was determined as the experimental group and further treated by scripted song-based audio media and SDN 2 Kubutambahan was determined as the control group and further treated by conventional teaching technique. The results of data analysis show that the experimental group students achieved a higher English competence than the control group. It was proven by their mean score where the experimental group students got 90.17 and the control group got 79.85. The result of the t-test also proves that scripted song-based audio media gave significant effect on the fifth grade students’ English competence. In conclusion, scripted song-based audio media gave significant effect on the fifth grade students’ English competence in Kubutambahan Sub-district 1.keyword : audio media, English competence, scripted song,

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi efek dari strategi menulis terkontrol dan motivasi berprestasi pada kompetensi menulis siswa. Empat dari sebelas kelas dipilih melalui teknik sampel kluster acak, dan 36 siswa di tiap grup dipilih sebagai sampel. Dalam menginvestigasi hasil, data dianalisa secara deskriptif dan inferensial menggunakan two-way ANOVA. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat: (1) perbedaan signifikan pada kompetensi menulis siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi menulis terkontrol dan yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi konvensional, (2) efek interaksi yang signifikan antara strategi-strategi yang diterapkan dan motivasi berprestasi pada kompetensi menulis siswa, (3) perbedaan signifikan pada kompetensi menulis siswa dengan motivasi berprestasi tinggi yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi menulis terkontrol dan yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan strategi konvensional, (4) perbedaan signifikan pada motivasi menulis siswa dengan motivasi berprestasi rendah yang diajarkan dengan strategi menulis terkontrol dan yang diajarkan dengan strategi konvensional.Kata Kunci : strategi menulis terkontrol, motivasi berprestasi, menulis, strategi konvensional The present study aimed at investigating the effect of controlled writing strategy and achievement motivation on students’ writing competency. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengindentifikasi dan analisis bentuk-bentuk linguistics, arti dan fungsi jargon yang digunakan oleh petugas front officers di bagian front office Lovina Beach Hotel. Dalam menganalisis jargon didukung oleh theory Allan&Burridge(2006), theory yule (2006), dan theory chaer and Agustina’s (2010). Penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif. Penelitian pada jargon diteliti berdasasrkan bentuk pembicaraan dan bentuk tulisan. Penelitin ini dilaksanakan di Lovina Beach Hotel yang beralamat Desa Kalibubuk-Kecamatan Buleleng-Kabupaten Buleleng. Subject penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah Front officers di Front Office, hotel Lovina Beach Hotel. Object penilitian ini adalah jargon yang digunakan dalam proses komunikasi dan interaksi antara orang-orang dengan kelompok, orang-orang dengan orang lain, kelompok dengan kelompok di Front Office. Dalam penilitian ini ditemukan berbagai bentuk jargon seperti phrasa (2 or 1,9 %), Singkatan (30 or 28%), Kata-kata (45 or 42 %), Pemendekan ( 19 or 10,9%), Peminjaman (2 or 1,9 %), Pengabungan (2 or 1,9%) and Akronym (5 or 4,7%). Dalam istilah arti jargon bahwa terdapat sebanyak 105 arti jargon. Berdasarkan teori Allan dan Burridge (2006, p.58) jargon memiliki dua fungsi pertama (1) jargon untuk menyajikan sebagai teknis atau spesialis bahasa untuk berkomunikasi yang tepat dan effisiensi dalam berkomunikasi (51, 54 %). Kedua (2) jargon sebagai bentuk memajukan bahasa dalam kelompok solidaritas dan diluar dari kelompok solidaritas kepada orang-orang yang tidak menggunakan jargon (51, 48%).Kata Kunci : jargon, front office department, lovina beach hotel. This study aimed at identify and analyze the the linguistics forms, the meanings and the function of jargon used by front officers of the front office department at Lovina Beach Hotel. The analysing of jargon was supported by Allan&Burridge (2006) theory,Yule’s (2006) theory and Chaer & Agustina’s (2010) theory. This study was conducted in a qualitative research design. The jargons was investigated based on spoken and written form. This study was conducted at Lovina Beach Hotel and located in Kalibubuk Village Buleleng Subdistrict- Buleleng Regency.The subjects of the study were receptionists at the front office department of Lovina Beach Hotel.The object of this research was jargon used in the process of communicating and interacting people with groups, people with people and group with group in front office department. This study found the types of jargon in form of phrases (2 or 1,9 %), abbreviation (30 or 28%), words (45 or 42 %), clipping ( 19 or 10,9%), borrowing (2 or 1,9 %), compounding (2 or 1,9%) and acronym (5 or 4,7%). Terms of the meaning, there were 105 jargons meaning. According to Allan and Burridge (2006, p.58) jargon has two functions, as follows.Firstly, to serve as a technical or specialist language for precise and economical communication (51, 54 %).Secondly,to promote in-group solidarity, and to exclude as out-groupers, the people who do not use the jargon (51, 48%)keyword : Keyword : jargon, front office department, lovina beach hotel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah media audio yang berbasis lagu kreasi (Scripted Song) bisa meningkatkan kompetensi bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar di Gugus 2 Gerokgak. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dalam bentuk Post-Test Only Control Group Design. Ada eksperimen group dan kontrol group dalam penelitian ini. Mereka diberikan pengajaran yang berbeda. Dalam penelitian ini, semua siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar di Gugus 2 Gerokgak diambil sebagai populasi. Para siswa kelas lima dari SD Negeri 2 Tinga-Tinga (kelompok eksperimen) dan SD Negeri 3 Tinga-Tinga (kelompok kontrol) dipilih sebagai sampel melalui Random Sampling. Setelah diberi cara pengajaran yang berbeda, penulis menggunakan posttest untuk mendapatkan data dan menganalisanya secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Berdasarkan analisis deskriptif, nilai rata-rata dari kelompok eksperimen adalah 85.9, sedangkan kelompok kontrol 71.36. Dengan kata lain, kelompok eksperimen meraih nilai yang lebih tinggi untuk kompetensi bahasa Inggris dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil data analisis secara inferensial melalui independen sampel t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai dari t-observed adalah 6.500, melebihi nilai dari tcv (t-critical value) pada 1.667 (α= 5%). Jadi, hasil dari t-test mengindikasikan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Hal tersebut juga membuktikan bahwa media audio berbasis lagu kreasi (Scripted Song) bisa memberikan pengaruh (peningkatan) terhadap kompetensi bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci : media audio, kompetensi bahasa Inggris, lagu kreasi. This study aimed at finding out whether or not the audio media based on scripted songs give a significant effect to the fifth grade students’ English competence of primary schools at sub district 2 Gerokgak. This study was an experimental research in the form of Post-Test Only Control Group Design. There were experimental group and control group in this study. They were given different treatments. In this study, all fifth grade students of primary schools at sub district 2 Gerokgak were taken as the population. The fifth grade students of SD Negeri 2 Tinga-tinga (experimental group) and SD Negeri 3 Tinga-tinga (control group) were determined as the sample of the study through Random Sampling. After giving different treatments, the researcher used a posttest to obtain the data and analyzed them descriptively and inferentially. Based on descriptive analysis, the experimental group’s mean score was 85.9, while 71.36 for the control group. The experimental group achieved higher score in English competence than the control one. The results of the inferential statistical analysis through independent sample t-test show that value of t-observed was 6.500, exceeding value of tcv (t-critical value) at 1.667 (α= 5%). Thus, the result of the t-test indicates that there was a significant difference between the experimental and the control group. The study proves that the audio media based on scripted songs could give a significant effect to the students’ English competence. keyword : audio media, English competence, scripted songs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki jenis-jenis kesalahan grammar yang dilakukan oleh murid-murid dikelas X TKJ 2 di SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja didalam menulis teks deskriptif dan menemukan sumber-sumber dari kesalahan grammar tersebut. Semua data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori dari Azar dan Wakkad dalam mengelompokkan tipe-tipe kesalahan grammar yang dilakukan oleh siswa. Berdasarkan analisa dari data didalam penelitian ini, terdapat 16 jenis kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa, diantaranya: add a word (25.52%), capitalization(12.41%), verb error (8.62%), pronoun (8.62%), spelling (7.93%), word order (6.55%), word choice (4.83%), singular/plural (5.86%), preposition (4.48%), omit a word (4.48%), meaning not clear (2.76%), word form (2.41%), punctuation (2.07%), article (1.38%), run-on-sentence (1.38%), and incomplete sentence (1.03%). Dalam sumber kesalahan, hasil dari penelitian ini diindikasikan bahwa sumber kesalahan terbanyak adalah kesalahan intralingual (65.77%).Kata Kunci : kesalahan grammar, menulis, teks deskriptif. This research aimed at investigating the types of grammatical errors committed by the students of class X TKJ 2 in SMK Negeri 3 Singaraja in writing descriptive text and finding out the sources of those grammatical errors. All data were analyzed by using Azar and Wakkad’s theory in classifying the types of grammatical error committed by the students. Based on the analysis of the data of this study, there were 16 types of errors committed by the students, which includes: add a word (25.52%),capitalization(12.41%), verb error (8.62%), pronoun (8.62%), spelling (7.93%), word order (6.55%), word choice (4.83%), singular/plural (5.86%), preposition (4.48%), omit a word (4.48%), meaning not clear (2.76%), word form (2.41%), punctuation (2.07%), article (1.38%), run-on-sentence (1.38%), and incomplete sentence (1.03%). In terms of error sources, the result of this study indicated that the major source of errors was intralingual error (65.77%).keyword : grammatical errors, writing, descriptive text.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan procedure dalam upacara pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa, (2) menyelidiki jenis komunikasi strategi yang digunakan oleh perwakilan dari penganten laki-laki, perwakilan dari penganten wanita dan Prajuru dalam upacara pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa (3) menemukan alasan dari prajuru tentang tradisi upacara pernikahan di Desa Lokapaksa. Penelitian ini dirancang dalam bentuk penelitian kualitatif. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah empat orang yang terlibat dalam proses pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa. Ada tiga prosedur upacara pernikahan Ngidih di Desa Lokapaksa yaitu: Mesadok bertemu orang tua pengantin laki-laki dan orang tua mempelai wanita di rumah pengantin wanita, Memadik / Ngidih melamar pengantin wanita kerumah pengantin pria dan Melaku adalah prosedur terakhir upacara pernikahan Ngidih dan ada tiga langkah yaitu: pebiayakala, natab, dan mepamit. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ada enam jenis strategi komunikas yaitu, approximation, circumlocution,language switching,appeal for assistance, use of nonlingustic and use of fillers.Kata Kunci : Komunikasi strategi, upacara pernikahan Ngidih. This study aimed at (1) describing the procedures in Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village; (2) investigating the types of communication strategies used by groom’s delegation, bride’s delegation, the head of village and prajuru in Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village; and (3) finding tradition of wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village. This study was designed in the form of qualitative research. The subjects of this study were ten people who were involved Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village. there were three procedures of Ngidih wedding ceremony in Lokapaksa village which were included: Mesadok the meeting of the groom’s parents and the bride’s parents at the bride’s house, Memadik/Ngidih propose the bride to the groom’s house and Melaku was the last procedure of Ngidih wedding ceremony and there were three steps namely: pebiayakala, natab, and mepamit. The results of the analysis show that there were six types of communication strategies namely, approximation, circumlocution, language switching, appeal for assistance, use of nonlinguistic, and use of fillers. keyword : Communication strategies, Ngidih wedding ceremony.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan materi pembelajaran yang menyatu-padukan membaca dan menulis yang berbasis ICT untuk siswa kelas 7 di SMP N 4 Baturiti. Penelitian ini dirancang berdasarkan pada rancangan penelitian pengembangan yang dikemukakan oleh Dick, Carey dan Carey di tahun 2005. Model penelitian ini terdiri atas tiga langkah utama yaitu; analisa keperluan, pengembangan produk, dan evaluasi produk. Analisa keperluan diadakan dalam rangka memperoleh informasi tentang apa yang diperlukan dan sifat khas siswa, infrastruktur sekolah, dan topik yang harus muncul di dalam produk. Pada langkah pengembangan produk, materi dikumpulkan dan kemudian dikembangkan dengan menggunakan dua program bernama Hot Potatoes dan Macromedia Dreamweaver. Pada langkah evaluasi produk, diadakan penilaian ahli dan pengujian lapangan (field try-out) terhadap produk tersebut. Untuk keperluan langkah penilaian dari ahli, penelitian melibatkan dua ahli yang masing - masing memiliki keahlian dalam bidang berbeda yaitu; isi/kurikulum dan ICT. Hasil penilaian ahli menunjukkan kualitas materi yang dikembangkan sangat baik dengan nilai 3,88 dalam skala 0.1 – 4.0. Selain itu, pengujian lapangan terhadap produk juga diadakan untuk menguji apakah materi yang dikembangkan tersebut bisa dipakai dengan baik untuk mengajar keterampilan membaca dan menulis. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa materi tersebut dapat dipergunakan dimana ini bisa dilihat dari tanggapan positif yang diberikan siswa sebanyak 86%.Kata Kunci : Hot Potatoes, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Menyatu-padukan Kemampuan Membaca dan Menulis, Pengembangan Materi The aim of this study was to develop ICT based integrated reading and writing materials for the seventh grade students of SMP N 4 Baturiti. This study was designed based on research and development design proposed by Dick, Carey and Carey in 2005. This model consisted of three main stages namely; needs analysis, product development, and product evaluation. Needs analysis was conducted in an attempt to obtain information about the needs and characteristics of the students, infrastructures of the school, and the topics that should appear in the product. In the product development stage, materials were collected and then developed using two programs called Hot Potatoes and Macromedia Dreamweaver. In product evaluation, the experts’ judgment and field try-out were conducted. For the need of experts’ judgment stage, this study used experts who came from two different expertise; content/curriculum and ICT. The result of experts’ judgment showed a very good quality of the developed materials with score of 3.88 within 0.1 – 4.0 scale. Moreover, a field try-out was held to test whether the materials could be used to teach reading and writing skills properly. The result showed that the materials were applicable where it could be seen from 86% of positive feedback given by the students.keyword : Hot Potatoes, Integrating Reading and Writing Skills, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Materials Development
