Abstract

Jackfruit seed including recalcitrant seeds that can not be stored longer, and its high water content immediately germinate, so rapidly lose viability within a relatively short time. So that need special handling in maintaining viability and vigor during storage. This study aimed to obtain the type of packaging and appropriate storage media to maintain viability and vigor jackfruit seeds during storage. This study used a completely randomized design factorial two factors. The first factor is the packaging Basket woven bamboo, Box Styrofoam and cardboard box. The second factor is media store sawdust, rice husk and wood charcoal powder. The results showed that the use of packaging baskets woven bamboo and rice husk media play a role both in maintaining the viability and vigor of jackfruit Tulo-5 to generate higher seed moisture content that is on average 59.93%. Time germinate faster which is an average of 6.16 days. Higher growth rate is an average of 18.14% /etmal. Plant height 3, 4 and 5 higher MST each with an average of 33.81, 38.17 and 42.95 cm. The number of leaves 3, 4 and 5 MST more each with an average of 2.93, 3.60 and 3.93 strands. IVH higher averaging 4.55.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain a good concentration on the regeneration of growth regulators contained in coconut water on cocoa seed vigor (Theobroma cacao L). This research conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology of Agriculture Faculty of Tadulako University. The experiment conducted from March to May 2017. This experiment used Complete Randomized Design, that are coconut water consisting of three levels = 50% of coconut water, = 75% of coconut water, = 100 % of coconut water. The treatments were repeated 10 times, so there are 30 units of treatments, each unit used 3 plants, so the number of plants observed is 90 plants. The results showed that the application of 100% of coconut water in cocoa seedlings were able to give better coconut seed vigor on increasing in plant height, increasing of leaf number, increasing of stem diameter, and total chlorophyll leaf compared to 75% concentration of coconut water and concentration 50% coconut water

Abstract

Onion (Allium  ascallonicum L.) is a potential commodity especially in the city of Palu. Shallots Central Sulawesi than as a food flavoring agent very suitable for use as a feedstock fried onions. The purpose of this study was to determine the exact condition on the variety store Palasa and Palu valley are able to maintain the vigor of onion bulbs save energy. The expected usefulness of this study was to determine how the storage of onion bulbs to maintain vigor remains high shelf. This study used a split plot design consisting of: (1) local onion varieties as main plots (V1) = Onion Varieties Palasa, (V2) = Onion Varieties Palu valley, (2) The condition is saved as a subplot (K1) = room air conditioning (temperature 20-250 C), (K2) = space room (temperature> 28-300 C), (K3) = free air space (temperature> 300 C).  The results showed that the varieties Palasa produce speed germination and germination times better. Storage on the condition of free air space produces germination, speed of germination and germination time and the dry weight is higher. Varieties Palu valley and Palasa has vigor shelf high on the condition of free air space savings, although in an air conditioned room with a temperature of 250 C is still showing good vigor.

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ilmu dan Teknologi benih Fakultas Pertanian Untad bertujuan untuk untuk mengetahui toleransi padi gogo lokal Tanangge terhadap kekeringan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam bentuk percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 taraf pemberian tekanan osmosis larutan Polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 yaitu :tanpa pemberian larutan PEG (kontrol), - 1 bar, - 2 bar, - 3 bar dan - 4 bar, setiap perlakuan diulangi sebanyak 5 kali sehingga terdapat 25 satuan percobaan.  Setiap satuan percobaan menggunakan uji kertas digulung didirikan dalam plastik (UKDp) dimana setiap unit menggunakan 50 benih.  Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam dan perbedaan antar perlakuan yang dicobakan ditentukan dengan uji BNJ 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan berpengaruh nyata terhadap semua parameter pengamatan. Uji cekaman kekeringan dengan penggunaan larutan PEG 6000 mengindikasikan padi gogo lokal Tanangge toleran terhadap kekeringan yang ditunjukkan oleh kecepatan berkecambah, waktu berkecambah, persentase kecambah normal, panjang plumula, rasio panjang akar per panjang plumula dan kandungan prolin bebas.

Abstract

This study was aimed to breaking down the nutmeg germination dormancy by two different methods. This research was conducted from July to september 2014 in Seed Science and Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture,Tadulako University. A Complete Randomized Design (CRD) was used with two treatments. The First factor was level of scarification namely without scarification, complete scarification with sand, scarification with fracturing. The second factor is immersion of natural plant growth regulator (PGPR) : Aquades, coconut water (100%). The study has 6 combinations of treatments. Each cobination was repeated three times. Threfore, it was consists of 18 experiment units, and each experiment unit used 20 seeds. Total seed used in this experiment was 360 nutmegs. The results showed treatment was significant improve e length of sprout radicle, plumula length and seedling dry weight. Immersed with natural PGPR immersion and the interaction with scarification was no correlation on the seedling.  Fully scarified seed is the best treatment, 96.66% of seeds were germinated, the rate of germination was 39.09%, and germination length was 25.78 days, radicle length was 12.35, plumula length was 17.27, and seedling dry weight was 3.71 g.

Abstract

Business development potential is quite large shallot cultivation. This certainly needs to be balanced with the procurement of quality seeds. One effort in this process is the improvement of quality seeds to be used, especially the seed storability. This study aims to determine the shelf life of various seed quality  packages. This research was conducted in May and July 2014 at the Laboratory of Seed Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Tadulako. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 10 package of seed quality technology and 3 replications.. The treatments tested were P1 = Hanging, a height of 100 m above sea level, small tubers, 250 kg KCl / ha, P2 = Hanging, a height of 100 m a.s.l, large tubers, 100 kg KCl / ha, P3 = Hanging, a height of 100 m a.s.l, tubers large, 250 kg KCl / ha, P4 = Hanging, a height of 300 m a.s.l, large tubers, 100 kg KCl / ha, P5 = Hanging, a height of 300 m a.s.l, large tubers, 150 kg KCl / ha, P6 = Hanging, height 500 m a.s.l, large tubers, 150 kg KCl / ha, P7 = Protolan, a height of 300 m a.s.l, small tubers, 150 kg KCl / ha, P8 = Protolan, a height of 300 m a.s.l, large tubers, 150 kg KCl / ha, P9 = Protolan, a height of 500 m a.s.l, small tubers, 200 kg KCl / ha, and P10 = Protolan, a height of 500 m above sea level, large tubers, 200 kg KCl / ha. Data were analyzed by ANOVA test followed HSD 5%. The results showed storability of onion seeds in a package of technologies by hanging, altitude 500 MPL, and large tubers and giving 150 KCl / ha, produces the highest moisture content of 79.75% at 8 MSP, and the highest growth rate 46.50 % / etmal.

Abstract

The research was aimed at identifying  physiology aspects of elephant grass to the cutting interval and height and different water giving. The research was carried out at experimental garden BPTP Gowa, Pa Bentengan Village Bajeng Sub-district Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province, carried out from May until September 2007. The research method was arranged based on split-plot-design in group random design consisting of three repetitions. The treatment arrangement was as follow: main plot S was with and without watering. Sub-plot was the cutting height (T) consisting of three levels, I,e. 10 cm cutting height from the ground surface, 20 cm cutting height from the ground surface, and 30 cm cutting height from the ground surface. The sub plots were the cutting interval consisting of three levels, i.e a-4-week cutting interval, a-6-week cutting interval, and an-8-week cutting interval. The research result showed than an-8-week cutting interval and 20 cm cutting height gave the highest mean at: photosynthesis speed, internal CO2 level, number of saplings, wet and dry weight of plants and small stomata conduct. Water giving gave the highest mean at: photosynthesis speed, internal CO2, number  of saplings, wet and dry weight of plants, while without water giving gave the highest mean at stomata conduct and transpiration speed.

Abstract

ABSTRACTProvision  of  quality  seedling  materials  by  high  vigority  seedling  is  one of the  important supporting system to  the  development  of  commercial-scale jackfruit  farms.  After passing through  a period of  jackfruit  seed conservation period, the viability of the seed is decreasing,  and a propertreatment  is needed  before  planting.  Organic  growing  media  for  seedling  may  have beneficial  to maintain  seedling  vigority.  The  use  of  waste  organic material for  improving  seed  vigority  is  less researched. The  purpose of this experiment was  to  identify  the best  growing media  for improving Tulo jackfruit  seed  vigority  after  a  period  of  conservation.  Experiment  was conducted  using  arandomized block design  (RBD)  factorial design, consisting of a  seed  source  (conservation  period) and  the  type  of  organic  growing media. The experimental  results  indicated  that  the  source  of seedling  and growing  media  affected  strongly  the  leaf  area,  dry  weight  and  seedling vigorhypothetical index. The interaction between the seedling source and organic growing media showedsignificant differences in seedling height, stem diameter and leaf numbers.Keywords: seedling vigority, jackfruit, conservation, waste and organic growing media ABSTRAKPenyediaan bahan tanam yang bermutu melalui vigor bibit yang tinggi menjadi daya dukung dalam pengembangan tanaman nangka dalam pembuatan kebun-kebun berskala komersial. Setelah melewati  periode  konservasi  benih  nangka mengalami  penurunan  viabilitas  sehingga  dibutuhkan perlakuan yang tepat ketika penanaman akan dilakukan. Salah satu cara meningkatkan vigor bibit adalah memberikan media tanam organik yang dapat meningkatkan vigor bibit, bahan organik yang berasal  dari  limbah  belum  banyak  dikaji efektivitasnya dalam  meningkatkan  vigor  bibit.  Tujuan percobaan untuk memperoleh media tanam terbaik yang menunjang vigor bibit nangka Tulo setelah periode  konservasi.  Percobaan  dilakukan  menggunakan  Rancangan Acak  Kelompok (RAK)  pola faktorial,  terdiri  dari  sumber  benih  (periode konservasi)  dan  jenis  media  tanam  organik.  Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa sumber benih dan media tanam berpengaruh secara bebas terhadap luas daun, bobot kering bibit dan indeks vigor hipotetik. Interaksi sumber benih dan media tanan organik  menunjukkan  adanya  perbedaan  yang  nyata  terhadap tinggi  bibit,diameter  batang  dan jumlah daun.Kata kunci: vigor bibit, nangka, konservasi, limbah dan media tanam organik

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aimed at obtaining high vigor of Kweni mango seeds. It was conducted in April to July 2017, at the Laboratory of Seed Technology and Academic Gardens of the Agriculture Faculty of Tadulako University, Palu.  It was carried out in two stages: the viability testing using a completely randomized design (RAL) in which the seeds were taken from different sources i.e. Ipi 1, Ipi 14 and Bente 8; and the vigor testing using a randomized block design (RAK) in which the seeds were grouped based on the height of the parent tree sources. At each stage of the experiment there were three treatments with six replicates.  The results of this study indicated that the seeds coming from the Ipi 1 source grew well under the viability and vigor tests, and it had the highest vigor.  Keyword : Mango, source of seed, viability, vigor.

Abstract

The purposes of the research was to determine the effects of tuber sizes andpotassium fertilizerrates on growth and yield of Lembah Palu shallot varieties. This research was conducted in Simoro village, Gumbasa Sub District in Regency of Sigi. Laboratory work for yield component observations were done in Seed Technology Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, Tadulako University. This research was conducted from June to August 2013. A randomized block design was used for designingthe research within which two factors were applied namely tuber size (U) and rates of potassium (K). The tuber size consist of small tuber (U1= 1.7-2.3gtuber-1) and large tuber (U2= 2.4-3.0 gtuber-1). The potassium fertilizer (K2O) consist of four rates; 100 kgha-1, 150 kgha-1, 200 kgha-1, 250 kgha-1. The research treatments was replicated three times. The results research showed that tuber dimension significantly affected all growth parameters except plant height and all yield parameters. The large tuber grew better than small tuber. While K rates showed significant effect for all growth parameters except shoot numbers and all yield parameters, except tuber number per plants. The rates of K above 100kgha-1 showed greater yield 6.41 tonha-1 than the low rate 100 kgha-1 only 5.66 tonha-1. There was a significant interaction effect between tuber size and rates of K fertilizer for all parameters growth, except leaf number and shoot number, and  all parameter yields except tuber diameter. The potassium fertilizerinfluence the growth, yield of and corm quality. The potassium fertilizer function is to strengthen the crop vigor along with forming and enlarging tuber diameter. Key words : K dosage, Shallot varieties lembah palu, Tuber size.
