Abstract

This study aimed to analyze how the CIRC learning model and learning motivation affected students' reading comprehension abilities. This study uses a 2x2 factorial design and a quasi-experimental methodology. A reading comprehension test and a questionnaire about learning motivation were employed in the study. A total of 24 people from each group were used to create the research sample. Data analysis was done descriptively. The results showed that CIRC influenced students' reading comprehension results. The experimental class (CIRC) students had a greater reading comprehension level than those in the control group (conventional). The reading comprehension skills of students with high learning motivation (CIRC) differ significantly from those of pupils with low learning motivation (traditional). The reading comprehension skills of students with low learning motivation (CIRC) differ considerably from those of pupils with high levels of stimulation (conventional). The CIRC model interacts with learning motivation to influence students' reading comprehension skills. Students with high reading interest (CIRC) can improve their ability to read and understand explanatory texts and vice versa.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze how students' negotiating text writing abilities are affected by contextual teaching and learning (CTL) strategies and learning motivation. This kind of study uses a quantitative experimental design. This approach to research is essentially an experiment. 159 participants made up the study's population. 32 people were sampled using the purposive sampling technique in class X AKT, the experimental class, and 31 in class X RPL, the control class. Utilizing questionnaires to gauge students' motivation for learning and performance exams to gauge their proficiency with negotiating text-writing. According to the results of the research, students in class X are motivated to learn using the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) technique. The following can be said about the influence. First off, pupils who used the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) technique performed higher on tests of their negotiating text writing abilities than those who used the traditional approach. Second, students who use the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) technique and have high learning motivation have better negotiating text writing skills than students who use traditional methods and have high learning motivation. Third, students who use the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) technique and have low learning motivation have better negotiating text writing skills than students who use traditional methods and have low learning motivation. Fourth, the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) method model interacts with learning motivation to influence students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discuss the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on writing skills of exposition text for middle school students. The method used is an experiment inquiry to find the effect of certain treatments on others under controlled conditions. The research procedure which is natural setting and descriptive pay more attention to data processing and analysis, tend to be inductive, and search for suitable meaning. The data collection instrument was a performance test in the form of writing skills on exposition text. The results showed that the application of the PBL model increased the scores of the students' exposition text writing results with an average score of 58%. In addition, the application of the PBL model also deepens students' understanding of the structure, language rules, diction, language style, and speeling contained in the exposition text.

Abstract

There are three objectives of this research. First, it describes reading comprehension skills before using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategies in learning to read and understand explanatory texts for class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Second, it describes reading comprehension skills after using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategies on the reading comprehension skills of class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Third, analyzing the effect of Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) strategy on the reading comprehension skills of explanatory texts of class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The research design is a one group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study were students of class XI SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang for the academic year 2022/2023, totaling 307 students. Data were analyzed using percentage formula, arithmetic average formula, and t-test. The research instrument was an objective test, namely a test of reading comprehension skills before and after using Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR).

Abstract

This study aimed to test the effectiveness of developing a CTL-based electronic module in learning to write expository texts for class X SMA Negeri 12 Padang students. In testing the effectiveness of this module, the development model used is the Four-D (4D) model. Testing the effectiveness of the electronic module was obtained from two sources, namely observations of activities during the learning process and the results of the performance test of writing exposition texts. The research findings indicate that the results of the analysis of student activities in the learning process using electronic modules conducted through observation sheets are categorized as very active. This can be seen from the average value of the percentage of student activity as a whole of 89.18 with a very active category. Judging from the results of student performance tests, the use of this CTL-based electronic module is also very effective. This can be proven by the average score of students in writing exposition texts is 87. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the CTL-based electronic module developed is very effective in learning to write expository texts and can improve student learning outcomes in class X SMA Negeri 12 Padang.

Abstract

Bahasa memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, tentunya dalam berbahasa tidak terlepas dari menggunakan berbagai ragam bahasa. Oleh karena itu, eksistensi sosiolinguistik sangat berpengaruh untuk mengidentifikasi variasi bahasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Selain itu, sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah video reels di instagram yang diunggah oleh influencer yakni Kalis Mardiasih dengan menyaring konten yang representative yaitu mengandung berbagai ragam bahasa di dalamnya. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan metode sampling dari beberapa konten komentar warganet pada tayangan video reels Kalis Mardiasih yang akan dianalisis, kemudian menyimak bahasa yang digunakan baik verbal maupun non verbal, setelah itu mencatat dan mendokumentasikan ragam bahasa didalamnya. Berdasarkan analisa yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa dalam konten video yang diunggah oleh Kalis Mardiasih pada akun pribadi instagramnya bahwa terdapat berbagai ragam atau gaya bahasa digunakan dalam penyampaian pesan baik secara tulisan berupa campur kode, alih kode, interferensi, dan integrasi

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara keterampilan penguasaan kosa kata dengan kemampuan menulis karangan narasi, dan untuk mengetahui bagaimanakah kemampuan menulis karangan narasi oleh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Gumanti. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Gumanti. Teknik yang digunakan untuk pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknis tes. Data penelitian ini berupa hasil tes objektif berbentuk pilihan ganda untuk tes pengetahuan kosakata yang terdiri dari 35 butir soal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan hasil tes penguasaan kosakata siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Gumanti berada pada kategori kuat, hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai mean (rata-rata) yang diperoleh, yaitu 89,73 berada pada rentangan 86-95% pada skala 10, dengan kualifikasi baik sekali (BS), dan hasil tes kemampuan menulis karangan narasi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Gumanti berada pada kategori kuat, hal ini dapat dilihat dari pemerolehan nilai mean (rata-rata), yaitu 81,38 berada pada rentangan nilai 66-75% dengan skala 10, dengan kualifikasi baik (B). Hal menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang erat dan signifikan atau hubungan yang positif antara penguasaan kosakata dengan menulis karangan narasi siswa. Semakin tinggi penguasaan kosakata siswa akan semakin terampil siswa dalam menulis karangan narasi. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah penguasaan kosakata siswa, semakin buruk pula kemampuan siswa dalam menulis sebuah tulisan karangan narasi.

Abstract

Artikel ini ditulis bertujuan untuk menggambarkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks eksposisi dengan keterampilan menulis eksposisi siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Sungai Tarab. Pada penenelitian ini metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah korelasional. Populasi dalam hal ini Penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Sungai Tarab terdaftar pada tahun akademik 2019/2020 berjumlah 396 siswa. Sampel diambil secara proporsional pengambilan sampel acak. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa korelasi antara keterampilan membaca dengan keterampilan menulis siswa teks eksposisi kelas X SMAN 1 Sungai Tarab dengan bukti 95% dengan derajat kebebasan n-1; thitung > ttabel (8,37)> (1,67). Oleh karena itu, keterampilan membaca pemahaman teks ekspositori memiliki korelasi keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is an effect before using DRTA on the reading comprehension skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Matur students and after using the DRTA strategy in reading comprehension skills of class X SMA Negeri 1 Matur students. This research is a quasi-experimental research with a research design that uses the One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population in this study were students of class X SMA Negeri 1 Matur. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique. The data of this research is the value of reading comprehension skills of tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Matur before and after using the DRTA strategy. Data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect before and after using the DRTA strategy in reading comprehension skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Matur, namely tcount > ttable (3,52>1,71). The average reading comprehension ability of tenth graders of SMA Negeri 1 Matur after using the DRTA strategy was higher than before (94,87>47,37). Thus it can be concluded that the DRTA strategy has a significant effect on the reading comprehension skills of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Matur.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to explain the value of character education in the novel Bumi by Tere Liye and how its implication in learning. This research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The data source is the novel Bumi by Tere Liye. The value of character education contained in the novel, including: (1) honesty, (2) discipline, (3) curiosity, (4) national spirit, (5) friendly and communicative, (6) fond of reading, (7) social care, and (8) responsibility.
