Abstract

The phenomenon of motorcycle gang violence in Bandung has developed into a multidimensional social conflict, rooted not only in direct acts of aggression but also in structural and cultural violence. This study analyzes the horizontal conflicts among motorcycle gangs using Johan Galtung’s violence triangle, Shaw and McKay’s social disorganization theory, and Friedrich Glasl’s conflict intervention framework. Employing Online Research Methods (ORM) and online content analysis, the research explores digital traces of gang-related violence, revealing how socioeconomic inequality, weak social cohesion, and cultural legitimization of violence contribute to the persistence of gang conflicts. The findings indicate that repressive law enforcement alone is insufficient, as conflicts have reached chronic levels of escalation. Lessons from Scotland’s Violence Reduction Unit and Costa Rica’s community-based prevention highlight the need for Indonesia to adopt a more holistic and participatory approach. The study recommends integrating law enforcement with preventive and transformative strategies, emphasizing education, youth empowerment, and community-based reconciliation to achieve sustainable conflict resolution.

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing trend of human trafficking crimes involving Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Southeast Asia, particularly in Myanmar and Cambodia, reveals an increasingly complex and organized form of transnational crime. Many TPPO operations now occur in conflict zones such as Myawaddy, Myanmar, which has become a hub for global digital crime networks. This articleexamines TPPO as a form of man-made social disaster as defined by Law Number 24 of 2007concerning Disaster Management. The study focuses on analyzing the role of social intelligence in the stages of early detection, early warning, forecasting, and problem solving to en ly preventand address cross-border human trafficking. This research employs a descriptive qualitativeapproach, drawing on secondary data from government documents, international organizationreports, and media coverage between 2020 and 2025. The findings reveal weaknesses inIndonesia’s social intelligence system, including poor early detection mechanisms, the absence of integrated early warning systems, limited predictive capabilities, and a reactive response pattern. Fragmented data, lack of inter-agency coordination, and limited community involvement exacerbate these gaps. Therefore, a more integrated, preventive, and community-based social intelligence system is urgently needed as part of the national strategy to address TPPO as a crossborder threat and a contemporary social disaster.

Abstract

This study examines the role of peaceful narratives as a conflict resolution strategy in the digital arena following Indonesia's 2024 general elections. Amidst rising political polarization, especially among youth active on social media platforms such as TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), digital spaces have become arenas for both political expression and social division. The research applies qualitative content analysis to explore how "peaceful narratives" can reduce symbolic violence and promote inclusive political awareness. Utilizing Social Identity Theory and Johan Galtung's "peace by peaceful means" framework, the study analyzes the dynamics around the viral hashtag #PrettyGirlsDon'tVote02, which symbolizes political satire and identity polarization. Findings reveal that peaceful narratives counteract digital conflicts by fostering empathy, respectful dialogue, and civic engagement, thereby strengthening social cohesion and democratic deliberation. The study recommends reinforcing political literacy, creating healthier dialogue platforms, promoting public verification of information, and encouraging positive social role models. Ultimately, peaceful narratives not only mitigate digital conflicts but also lay the foundation for national unity and resilience in Indonesia's evolving democratic landscape.

Abstract

Indonesia as the world’s most populous Muslim-majority nation, faces a growing ideological contest between National Islam a locally rooted, moderate, and inclusive form of Islam and Transnational Islam, which promotes a more conservative and globalized religious orientation. This study explores the dynamics of this ideological struggle and its implications for Indonesia’s socio-political stability and national security. Using a qualitative descriptive approach with library research methods, the paper analyzes the ideological differences, conflict patterns, and state as well as civil society interventions in managing tensions between these two streams. The findings show that Transnational Islam, represented by movements such as the Muslim Brotherhood, Hizbut Tahrir, and Salafi groups, often challenges Indonesia’s foundational ideology of Pancasila and promotes exclusivism that threatens social cohesion. Meanwhile, National Islam embodied by Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah emphasizes moderation, cultural adaptation, and democracy, acting as a stabilizing force. The ideological clash manifests not only in theological debates but also in education, politics, and public discourse, sometimes escalating into violence and terrorism. Applying Social Identity Theory, Social Conflict Theory, and Coser’s Functional Theory of Conflict, this study concludes that religious identity, power struggles, and group dynamics collectively shape the conflict landscape. Effective conflict intervention requires the synergy of state policies, moderate religious movements, and community-based dialogue to promote religious moderation and maintain national unity.

Abstract

The Indo-Pacific region has become the focal point of global geopolitical competition, involving major powers such as the United States, China, India, and Japan. The background of this study stems from the escalating rivalry and contest over oil resources in the region, which directly affects national security and regional stability, including that of Indonesia. The main objective of this research is to analyze the geopolitical dynamics, energy competition, and their implications for Indonesia’s national defense doctrine within the framework of the Indo-Pacific Strategy and the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach through an extensive literature review of international and national academic sources focusing on geopolitics and energy security. The findings indicate that the struggle for energy resources in the Indo-Pacific not only influences economic relations but also shapes the direction of national defense and diplomatic strategies. Consequently, Indonesia must renew its defense doctrine with a focus on maritime defense, energy security, and regional multilateral cooperation to safeguard sovereignty and maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Abstract

The development of social media in Indonesia has fundamentally changed the landscape of public communication, from a limited information space to a massive and emotional participatory arena. This study analyzes how the framing of the issue of the Revision of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Bill (RUU TNI) on social media, particularly the X (Twitter) platform, shapes public opinion and drives collective behavior in the real world. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through content analysis and framing analysis, this study explores the mechanisms of disinformation dissemination, the formation of echo chambers, and the influence of peripheral persuasion on public attitudes. The results show that emotional framing and misinformation dominate digital conversations, reinforcing social polarization and weakening public rationality. This phenomenon shows a close relationship between the construction of digital opinion and the escalation of conflict, as seen in demonstrations against the revision of the TNI's Internal Security Forces ( ) Law in various regions. In the context of national security, these dynamics illustrate non military threats stemming from digital disinformation and low critical literacy among the public. Therefore, an inclusive public communication strategy, strengthening digital literacy, and cross-sector collaboration are needed to build an early warning system for potential social conflicts based on digital media.

Abstract

This research focuses on analyzing food security in remote prisons that are potentially vulnerable to disasters, with a case study focus on Nusakambangan Island, Central Java. The issue of food security in correctional environments is important because Nusakambangan's isolated geographical conditions cause complete dependence on external logistics supplies, especially from sea routes. When extreme weather, emergency conditions or disasters occur, food distribution is often disrupted, so internal production strategies are needed to maintain supply continuity. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method and analyzes field data from several prisons on Nusakambangan, including the Open Prison, Nirbaya, Gladakan, Kembang Kuning, Karanganyar, and Pasir Putih. The research findings indicate that the development of agricultural, livestock, and fisheries activities on Nusakambangan serves a dual role: as a food security strategy and as a means of inmate rehabilitation. The Open Prison and Kembang Kuning Prison are the most advanced models of food diversification with various commodities, while Nirbaya Prison demonstrates innovative adaptation to rocky land through a terracing system. This research concludes that food security on Nusakambangan can serve as an integrative model between correctional policies and adaptive food systems. Key recommendations include the establishment of an integrated food management institution, increased cross-ministerial technical support, and the development of a sustainable storage system and training for inmates. With institutional strengthening and agricultural innovation, Nusakambangan has the potential to become a national laboratory for resilient, productive, and equitable correctional food security.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this study is to analyze the extent to which the family has an important role in instilling and growing character values that exist in society through strengthening religion in children as a result of the Covid -19 pandemic. The research method used is a qualitative method with a religious approach. Data collection techniques using documentation techniques in the form of scientific journals and books written by competent authors. The study of data analysis used content analysis techniques. The findings of this study are the strategic position of the family, if properly prepared, will become a vital place for human development, especially in preparing human resources who have noble character qualities. On the contrary, it will be a source of disaster when religion in the family is ignored or does not get an adequate portion. This study contradicts the reinforcement theory of motivation proposed by B. F. Skinner but supports the theory of moral strengthening of Imam Al-Gazali. The conclusion of the study is that family empowerment can strengthen the practice of religion in children as a result of the  Covid-19 pandemic which is very strategic because it essentially aims to change individual behavior, knowledge, attitudes and values and skills. Abstract

This study aims to explore the model of interreligious harmony in Nglinggi Village, Klaten, Central Java, which is rooted in local wisdom, and to examine its role as a means of preventing social conflict. Nglinggi Village, known for its religious diversity, has earned recognition as a Culturally Peaceful Village due to the community’s various efforts to foster harmony. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with religious and community leaders, and documentation studies of interreligious harmony activities. The findings indicate that local cultural traditions such as gotong royong (mutual cooperation), sadranan (ancestral commemoration), and sharing practices during religious holidays play a crucial role in sustaining long-term harmony. Local wisdom in Nglinggi Village serves as an effective model for preventing social conflict in plural societies. This study is expected to contribute to the development of culturally based peacebuilding efforts in Indonesia.
