Abstract

This study investigates the feasibility of restoring waqf-based endowments as a long-term method for improving teacher education and training in Northern Nigeria. Drawing on historical and present waqf models, the research investigates how this Islamic philanthropic organization might solve teacher shortages, low training quality, and imbalances in educational service delivery.  The study employs a qualitative research methodology that includes document analysis, expert interviews, and case studies from various Islamic institutions.  The findings show that waqf has historically played an important role in financing education in Muslim communities, but it has fallen due to colonial interruptions, legal limits, and a lack of public awareness. The research suggests that reviving and updating waqf through proper legislation, community participation, and integration with public-private partnerships can considerably improve the quality and accessibility of teacher training in underprivileged areas.  Recommendations are provided for government agencies, religious leaders, NGOs, and communities to collaborate in building waqf-based teacher education projects to reposition and assure sustainable teacher training in Northern Nigeria.

Abstract

This paper examines the importance of loving relationships between teachers and their students in the Islamic education system, as expressed by Al-Gazali. It first provides a brief overview of Al-Gazali's views of education, then focuses on his concept of love between teachers and students, and finally considers how Al-Gazali's ideas can be applied in modern education systems to create an environment of mutual respect and understanding between teachers and their students. The study employs a qualitative method and uses relevant literature, mostly historical sources from the Islamic world. The study's conclusions showed that Al-Gazali's theory of the spirit of love between educators and students offers important guidance on supporting and caring for students. By emphasizing the development of a strong love bond between the two parties, educators can foster an environment favorable to learning and growth. This advice should be heeded by contemporary educators, who should consciously work to promote a respectful and understanding teacher-student connection. The study concludes that Al-Ghazali's conception of love between instructors and students significantly adds to high-quality instruction in the twenty-first century. Finally, this essay advises modern educators and learners, urging them to infuse their interactions with love to promote the most efficient learning and understanding

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the practice of gold futures trading at PT. Agung Cindo Berjangka and assess its compliance with the Fatwa of the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI) No. 77/DSN-MUI/V/2010 regarding non-cash gold transactions. The problem identified in this research is the misalignment between trading practices and Islamic legal provisions, which raises concerns about the validity of such transactions from a Sharia perspective. Utilizing a qualitative field research method and a case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the trading practices involve contract-based transactions that do not entail physical gold delivery, thereby contradicting several key provisions in the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 77. Specifically, the study highlights violations of the clause prohibiting price increases during the contract period and the presence of gharar (uncertainty), maysir (speculation), and riba (usury). These elements render the practice non-compliant with Sharia principles and Islamic economic ethics.

Abstract

This study examines how judges' ex officio authority is applied to secure the rights of ex-wives and children following a divorce at the Manado Religious Court and the challenges judges face in exercising this authority. It focuses on fulfilling iddah alimony, mut'ah, and child support by the ex-husband and applying ex officio authority in divorce cases. Using an empirical legal approach, the research collects data through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. Primary data was gathered from interviews with Manado Religious Court judges and relevant parties, while secondary data was sourced from legal literature and regulations. The findings show that, although legal provisions exist to protect the rights of ex-wives and children, their implementation is hindered by social and economic factors, as well as difficulties in enforcing court decisions. Furthermore, ex officio authority is not always consistently applied, with some judges rarely using it or relying solely on trial evidence. Key challenges include claims of financial incapacity by the ex-husband and lengthy, costly execution processes, undermining the effectiveness of fulfilling these rights. The study also reveals the lack of clarity regarding criminal sanctions for ex-husbands neglecting their alimony obligations.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership thought of Istibsyaroh, a female Islamic boarding school figure from Jombang, East Java, and its relevance in addressing leadership challenges in the Society 5.0 era. The issue of female leadership in this context remains a subject of debate, particularly concerning gender equality, the interpretation of Sharia law, and adaptation to modern technological advancements. Using a qualitative approach and a descriptive-analytical method, this study examines literature encompassing Istibsyaroh’s works, insights, and contributions, as well as the concept of female leadership in Sharia law and Society 5.0. The analysis reveals the interconnection between the qualifications of an ideal leader in the Society 5.0 era, Islamic perspectives on female leadership, and Istibsyaroh’s thoughts. The findings indicate that Istibsyaroh asserts women's right to hold political positions as long as they adhere to Islamic law, as there is no explicit evidence prohibiting female leadership in politics and governance. Through a critical review of thematic Quranic exegesis (tafsīr mawḍū‘ī) regarding scholars’ differing views on women’s political rights and leadership, it can be concluded that Islam provides space for women to engage in political leadership. Istibsyaroh’s leadership thought offers a model that emphasizes the synergy between Islamic values, gender justice, and adaptive skills in technology and global dynamics, making it relevant to addressing the complex leadership challenges of the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

Background of study: This study examines the advantages, difficulties, and prospective advancements of Waqf in bolstering primary healthcare services in Gombe State's rural regions. Waqf, an Islamic endowment for social welfare, has long provided funding for healthcare and education, but its ability to provide rural health care is still restricted.Aims and scope of paper: The study intends to evaluate the role Waqf institutions play in primary healthcare and offer solutions for enhancing their sustainability and effectiveness in rural Nigeria. Methods: Qualitative and quantitative data were combined in a mixed-methods approach. Structured interviews and questionnaires with Waqf administrators, healthcare providers, legislators, and community members were used to collect primary data. Official reports, pertinent literature, and case studies of effective Waqf-based healthcare projects were examples of secondary data. The data was interpreted using thematic analysis and descriptive statistics.Result: The results show that Waqf institutions build facilities, offer subsidized medical services, and help staff in order to give vital healthcare support. Their efficacy is hampered by issues like low public knowledge, shoddy legislative frameworks, erratic funding, inadequate asset management, and little cooperation with government organizations. Important suggestions include bolstering relationships, strengthening legal and policy frameworks, and promoting financial sustainability through investment. Conclusion: According to the study's findings, Waqf can be a long-term source of finance for rural healthcare with effective management, lowering reliance on government and outside assistance while fostering fair access to healthcare throughout Gombe State.
