Abstract

Dishonest behavior, such as lying and cheating, is still commonly found among adolescents in school settings. This reflects a lack of ethical awareness among students, where the motivation to be honest is generally still driven by external factors, such as fear of punishment or the desire to be viewed favorably by peers. This program aims to test the effectiveness of the psychoeducational program “Building Ethical Awareness Through Honesty” in enhancing understanding and the internalization of the value of honesty among middle-aged adolescents. Using a cognitive and social psychology approach through Lawrence Kohlberg’s theory of moral development and Albert Bandura’s social learning theory, this program is designed to map the factors that support honest behavior and the factors that trigger dishonesty using examples that are easy to understand. This psychoeducational program was implemented with 37 students in a vocational psychology class at Private School X. The results of this program demonstrate that school-based psychological interventions can have a positive impact on fostering students’ moral awareness. Through a contextual approach, this program successfully broadened students’ perspectives and fostered the internalization of values. The behavior of speaking honestly that emerged after the activities was no longer driven by external pressure but arose independently from the students’ self-awareness as learners. Participants gave very positive feedback and expressed hope that this character-building program could continue to be implemented on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Teacher empathy is an emotional competency that plays a significant role in creating quality learning interactions for children with special needs. Although empathy has been recognized as a key factor in the success of special education, research that thoroughly examines how teacher empathy is manifested in everyday learning practice in special schools remains limited. This study aims to explore the subjective experiences of teachers in understanding and enacting empathy in learning interactions with children with special needs at Special Harmony School. The study employed a qualitative approach using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) design. Participants consisted of five teachers at Special Harmony School, selected through purposive sampling with the criterion sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using IPA procedures supported by NVIVO 15 software. The findings identified four main themes: the implementation of empathy in the classroom, strategies for developing empathy, supporting factors of empathy, and barriers to enacting empathy. This study concludes that teacher empathy is a complex and contextual process that significantly determines the quality of learning interactions for children with special needs in special education settings.

Abstract

The parenting styles a person experiences during childhood often contribute to the formation of attachment styles as they enter early adulthood. This study aims to examine the relationship between parenting styles and attachment styles in early adulthood. The background of this research is based on attachment theory, which explains that parenting styles experienced during development play a crucial role in shaping interpersonal relationships in adulthood. This study employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. Participants were young adults selected using judgment sampling, i.e., selection based on research criteria. The instruments used were the Parenting Authority Questionnaire (PAQ) to measure parenting styles and The Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) to measure attachment styles. Data were analyzed using Spearman's correlation test and age-specific t-tests. The results showed a significant positive relationship between parenting styles and attachment styles in early adulthood (p = .002; r = .147). Dimensional analysis found that authoritarian parenting was positively associated with insecure attachment, while authoritative parenting was negatively associated with insecure attachment. A significant positive relationship was found between parenting styles and attachment-related anxiety, but no significant relationship was found between parenting styles and attachment-related avoidance. The results of the t-test showed that there was no difference in perceptions of parenting styles across age groups, but there was a significant difference in attachment styles in the early adulthood age group.

Abstract

The increasingly intense use of social media, particularly the visual-based Instagram, has led to students being more frequently exposed to ideal appearance standards. This condition can trigger social appearance anxiety, which is anxiety related to how a person perceives their physical appearance in front of others. This study aims to determine the role of self-compassion in reducing levels of social appearance anxiety  in college students who use Instagram in Jakarta. Self-compassion is understood as a person's ability to be warm, accepting, and non-judgmental when faced with imperfections or social pressure. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of college students who use Instagram in Jakarta. The instruments used included the Self-compassion and Social Appearance Anxiety scales that have been adapted into Indonesian. Data analysis was conducted using correlation and regression tests to determine the extent to which self compassion contributes to levels of social appearance anxiety. The results showed that self compassion plays a significant role in reducing social appearance anxiety. Students with higher levels of self compassion tend to have lower levels of appearance anxiety, suggesting that self-compassion may be a protective factor against social pressures arising from Instagram use. The results of the Spearman correlation analysis showed a significant negative relationship between social anxiety and self-fear (ρ = −0.401; p < 0.001). This indicates that social appearance anxiety in students who use Instagram in Jakarta is negatively correlated with their level of self-compassion. This finding emphasizes the importance of developing self-compassion as a mental health strategy for students in the social media era. This study also opens up opportunities for the development of intervention programs such as mindfulness training, self-acceptance, or digital literacy aimed at helping students use Instagram more healthily and reduce appearance-related anxiety.

Abstract

The intensity of social media use among students can increase the risk of verbal aggression, especially when self-control is low. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and verbal aggression among active social media users aged 18-25 years. The participants consisted of 511 students selected through convenience sampling. The study used a correlational quantitative method with the Self-Control Scale  and Verbal Aggressiveness Scale  instruments. Analysis using Spearman's correlation showed a significant negative relationship between self-control and verbal aggression (r = -0.428, p <0.05). These results indicate that the higher the self-control, the lower the tendency to engage in verbal aggression. These findings provide an understanding of the role of self-control in aggressive behavior on social media and can be the basis for developing interventions for students.

Abstract

Pendidikan inklusif pada jenjang taman kanak-kanak menuntut guru untuk mengajar anak dengan karakteristik perkembangan yang beragam, termasuk anak berkebutuhan khusus. Dalam konteks tersebut, Self- Confidence guru menjadi faktor psikologis yang penting karena memengaruhi cara guru mengelola kelas, merespons perilaku anak, dan menyesuaikan strategi pembelajaran. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan self-confidence guru TK dalam mengajar anak berkebutuhan khusus di kelas inklusif. Partisipan penelitian berjumlah tiga orang guru TK yang memiliki pengalaman mengajar anak berkebutuhan khusus. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi terstruktur dan dianalisis menggunakan Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Self-Confidence guru terbentuk melalui pengalaman awal yang menimbulkan keraguan, tantangan mengelola kelas inklusif, keterbatasan pelatihan praktik, pengalaman keberhasilan dalam mengajar, pengamatan terhadap rekan kerja, apresiasi dari orang tua siswa, serta kondisi emosional ketika menghadapi situasi sulit di kelas. Guru juga melakukan penyesuaian metode pembelajaran dan membangun kolaborasi dengan orang tua untuk mendukung proses belajar anak. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa Self-Confidence guru bersifat dinamis dan berkembang melalui pengalaman langsung,  dukungan  sosial,  serta  kemampuan  mengelola  emosi. Peningkatan pelatihan praktis dan kerja sama dengan orang tua diperlukan untuk memperkuat praktik pembelajaran inklusif di TK

Abstract

Environmental education at an early age is a strategic step to shape children's character who care about the sustainability of nature. This article examines the role of simple but meaningful activities, namely coloring used buckets and planting green beans, in fostering environmental awareness in PAUD children. By using an experiential learning approach, children not only learn through theory, but also experience the recycling and planting process directly as a form of contribution to the environment. This study was conducted through a literature study of relevant literature in the fields of early childhood education, environmental education, and experiential learning approaches. The results of the study show that this activity is able to instill the values of sustainability, responsibility, and social awareness from an early age.
