Abstract

The Coronavirus-19 (Covid-19) pandemic requires people to behave cleanly and healthily to increase the need for clean drinking water. Based on a survey conducted by the Bengkalis District Health Office, it was found that 55% of the people used drinking water from refill depots. The purpose of this study was to determine the Sanitation Hygiene of Drinking Water Depots during the Covid-19 Pandemic in Bengkalis, Riau. This research method is a quantitative descriptive analysis using secondary data from the Bengkalis Health Service for a depot that has sanitation requirements for drinking water depots according to the reference. The research location is in Bengkalis District with a sample of 40 drinking water depots and analyzed for four parameters of drinking water depot sanitation inspection: place, equipment, handlers, and drinking water quality standard certificates. Sanitation hygiene inspection was obtained for the parameters of the place, equipment, and handlers with 100% achievement and only 25% certificate of water quality standard and proper hygiene. It is necessary to innovate drinking water treatment technology for drinking water sources that are healthy, guaranteed, cheap, and free from disease and to support the PHBS and STMB programs during the Covid-19 period.

Abstract

Medical waste from dental practice is harmful to life and the environment. Previous studies reported that the total medical solid waste generated by dental practices in Pekanbaru City was 4.62 kg/day with an average of 0.3 kg ± 0.07 kg/day. Based on the type of waste generated, 69% is infectious waste, 27% is toxic waste, and 4% is radioactive waste. The purpose of the study was to analyze the medical waste generated and the environmental costs incurred by dentists using several scenarios of medical waste management policy intervention. The method used is a simulation model with a dynamic system approach. Simulations were carried out from 2018 to 2047. The results of the study obtained a percentage reduction for 30 years, it was found that the combination of providing training and cooperation with the waste management party had the largest decrease of 41.9%. The biggest decrease in environmental costs was the combined scenario of 99.69%, followed by the 99.62% cooperation scenario and 19.5% training. The most effective self-care solid medical waste management model is the scenario 3 model because it can reduce the waste generated and also reduce costs.

Abstract

The Community-Led Total Sanitation Program is an approach to change sanitation hygiene behavior through triggering activities, which has not yet achieved the national target. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Community-Led Total Sanitation Program in a sustainable environment in a suburban settlement. This was a qualitative study with an action research approach in three districts in the Siak River suburb. The participants of this study were residents who lived on the banks of the Siak river and the holders of the Environmental Health Program at the Public Health Center. Data were collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews regarding the Open Defecation Free (ODF) program, handwashing with soap, household food and beverage management, household waste management, and household liquid waste management. This study found that the community-led total sanitation program in the suburban of the three sub-districts of the city of Pekanbaru was not well implemented yet, especially in the ecological aspects of the Open Defecation Free (ODF) program, waste management, and liquid waste management program. Economically, the implementation of the program by non-governmental organizations had not been supported. Socially, health workers and community leaders provided education related to environmental sanitation and obtained a level of interpretation above 70%.

Abstract

The use of PPE is one of the problems in the world of work. This can increase the level of risk of loss, both material and non-material. In general, companies have implemented an OHS management system, in which there are also provisions for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). However, in reality PPE is not always worn when working, many workers are found who do not use PPE. Compliance with the use of personal protective equipment is a person's attitude in following the rules set by the organization to protect part or all of the body from the dangers of work-related accidents and diseases. Based on the initial survey, it was found that there were 17 employees who did not comply with using personal protective equipment. The purpose of this study was to analyze factors related to Compliance with the Use of Personal Protective Equipment for employees in the production section at PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur TBK Noodle Division Pekanbaru. The method in this study used a quantitative approach with a Case Control research design with a total a sample of 34 people. The research was conducted from August to September 2021. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire using the Google form. Data analysis was carried out using univariate, bivariate and multivariate. The analysis technique used is multiple logistic regression using the SPSS program. Based on the results of the study there is a significant relationship between attitude variables, availability of personal protective equipment, supervision, age and years of service with adherence to the use of personal protective equipment. The most dominant factor in this research is attitude. Suggestions for PT Indofood CBC Sukses Makmur are to form regulations, carry out strict inspections and sanctions for employees who are not disciplined in using personal protective equipment, and provide rewards for employees who comply in using personal protective equipment (PPE).
