Abstract

Abstract

Despite the growing recognition of academic boredom as a factor influencing student engagement and achievement, there is still a lack of culturally adapted and validated instruments for use in religious and highly structured educational settings such as Islamic boarding schools. Most existing tools were developed in general, non-boarding, and secular school contexts, primarily in Western countries that differ significantly from the cultural and educational characteristics of Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aimed to adapt and test the validity and reliability of the 16-item Academic Boredom subscale of the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire (AEQ) among Islamic boarding school students in Indonesia. A total of 408 students from Islamic Boarding Schools in East Java, Indonesia participated in the study. This process adaptation involved several stages, including double translation, expert review, a readability test and construct confirmation. The data were analysed using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) with the Diagonally Weighted Least Squares (DWLS) method, as well as with reliability tests using Cronbach's Alpha and McDonald's Omega. The model fit indices (CFI = 0.919; TLI = 0.901; RMSEA = 0.071) and high internal consistency (α = 0.906; ω = 0.917) indicate that the adapted Academic Boredom subscale is valid and reliable for use in Islamic boarding school students in Indonesia. The implications of the study indicate that the adapted AEQ scale can be used as a diagnostic assessment tool for academic boredom in Islamic boarding school-based junior high school student, as well as supporting the development of affection-based learning interventions in Islamic Boarding School.

Abstract

Sitting endurance in early childhood is a critical aspect of successful classroom learning, particularly as children transition into more structured educational environments. Previous studies have noted that many early learners struggle to remain seated for developmentally appropriate durations, hindering their ability to engage effectively in learning activities. However, limited empirical research has addressed instructional strategies tailored to improve sitting endurance in PAUD (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini) students. This study aims to investigate the role of the Picture and Picture method, a visually driven and kinesthetic teaching approach, in supporting sitting endurance among early childhood learners. Utilizing a single-subject quantitative quasi-experimental design with an A-B-A framework and interrupted time series, one five-year-old male student was observed under three conditions: pre-intervention, during intervention, and post-intervention. Visual data analysis showed an increase in sitting duration from 7–10 minutes during the baseline to 20–25 minutes post-treatment. The novelty of this study lies in applying the Picture and Picture method not only for cognitive outcomes but also for behavioral endurance. These findings imply that integrating visual-kinesthetic strategies may support behavioral readiness in early learners, offering practical guidance for PAUD educators seeking to prepare children for structured learning environments. Highlight: Supports sitting behavior through visual-kinesthetic learning. Uses single-subject A-B-A experimental design. Offers practical insights for PAUD instructional methods Keyword: Sitting Endurance, Early Childhood Education, Picture and Picture, Visual Learning, Classroom Behavior

Abstract

This study aims to develop a learning agility model for special mentor teachers in terms of its relationship with self-efficacy and emotion regulation. This study uses correlational quantitative methods with correlation and regression analysis types by making self-efficacy and emotion regulation as independent variables and learning agility as the dependent variable. The population of this study was special supervising teachers in Muhammadiyah inclusive schools in Sidoarjo Regency aged 20-40 years with a total of 50 people taken through saturated sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study amounted to 3 psychological scales, including: adaptation of the Learning Agility scale, adaptation of General Self Efficacy to determine the self-efficacy of special mentor teachers, and to determine the emotion regulation of special mentor teachers using adaptation of the Emotion Regulation Scale. This study concluded that there is a significant relationship between self-efficacy and learning agility (rxx' = 0.345, p = 0.014 <0.05). Meanwhile, emotion regulation did not find a significant relationship with learning agility (rxx' = 0.183, p = 0.203>0.05). The regression analysis results show that f count = 3.210 (p = 0.049<0.05), this value indicates that the hypothesis is accepted. This means that together self-efficacy and emotion regulation have a significant influence on learning agility. However, the influence of the two variables, which is self-efficacy and emotion regulation, is only able to predict 12% of learning agility.
