Abstract

The issue of human behaviours is still engaging to discuss as human behaviour constantly changes. This study aims to reveal the problem of the psychoanalytic theory of Sigmund Freud, which has been the primary reference in the discussion of modern psychology. Modern psychologists tend to neglect the role of religion due to secularization in various aspects of life. This paper is library-based research that employs a comparative-analysis method. This study reveals that personality studies in modern psychology disregard the role of God. Humans deny God's power outside themselves, leading to modern man's spiritual crisis. In addition, the psychoanalytic theory does not deal with the spiritual aspect, so this theory is no longer relevant as a solution to modern human personality problems. Third, the concept of tazkiyat an-nafs and insān kāmil in the Islamic tradition can guide human life amid a spiritual crisis and guide humans to return to their God.  Contribution: This article reveals that the most effective solution in dealing with modern humans' personality and spiritual crises is to return to the initial nature of humans as creatures of God who are always obedient to Him.

In this modern era, many people are looking for happiness that is only based on material things without paying attention to peace of mind. This can be seen very clearly in the lives of Westerners who only make material life a source of happiness and satisfaction. So that the happiness that is obtained is not eternal and eternal, because gratitude is not accompanied by them being able to enjoy all aspects of life. This research was conducted to determine Badiuzzaman Said Nursi's qana'ah perspective based on the Dimensions of Gratitude. First, the analysis usess qualitative methods, and data collection is carried out using a literature search. After that, the data that has been collected is described descriptively to explain each of the related discussion suburbs. Then the results of this study show that to get to the attitude of qona'ah, it is necessary to apply the perspective of the business, willing, resignation, gratitude, prayer, and sharing. According to Said Nursi, the highest level of qana'ah is to become ahsana taqwim by passing the four foundations of ubudiyah and mahbubiyah, including absolute weakness (al-Ajz), Absolute Factory (al-Faqr), absolute longing (asy-Syafaqah) and absolute gratitude (at-Tafakkur).

Not spared from symptoms and factors, Al Balkhi also explained the steps and solutions for people with depression. The method used by Al-Balkhi that has never been done by Muslim psychologists before is with cognitive theory. Regarding depression, Al Balkhi's discussion was supported by earlier Islamic scholars who also wrote in his work on the prevention of grief (depression). This study used a literature study by collecting data and information on the importance of depression prevention and how to treat people with depression. The results of this study explain how important a person is in enduring feelings of sadness and loss that will result in depression.

Abstract

Modern psychology is often considered inadequate in addressing human psychological issues holistically due to its lack of spiritual dimension and an overemphasis on psychological aspects. This leads to the loss of essential direction and purpose in understanding human behavior. This study aims to explore the approach of Islamization as a solution to improve the shortcomings of modern psychology. The focus is on the reconceptualization of epistemology in modern psychological science through the integration of Islamic values with modern psychological concepts and theories. This research uses a qualitative approach by collecting data from various relevant literature sources on modern psychology and Islam. The data are analyzed thematically to identify patterns and themes that emerge in the context of the epistemology and methodology of psychology. The results of the study indicate that Islamization in modern psychological science can result in a reconceptualization of epistemology that considers the spiritual and psychological dimensions of humans in a balanced manner. By integrating Islamic principles into psychological theories and methods, this approach provides a more comprehensive understanding of human behavior. Consequently, Islamic psychology becomes a significant alternative in healing and comprehensively understanding human psychological issues, as well as restoring essential direction and purpose in modern psychological science. This research contributes valuable insights into the development of more inclusive and holistic psychological theories and practices.

Abstract

Transpersonal psychology offers a perspective that emphasizes the spiritual aspects of human experiences and consciousness, summarized in a concept that represents human's spiritual consciousness, self-transcendence. Unfortunately, its formalized concept, along with its spiritual aspects, showed the necessity for further inquiry, especially from the Islamic worldview. This research aimed to critically review the concept of self-transcendence in transpersonal psychology from the perspective of the Islamic worldview. This research was done by applying the library research method, collecting data from the works of Viktor Frankl and Abraham Maslow, who are prominent figures in the related topic, in addition to the works of various scholars about transpersonal psychology. The researcher used an analytical method to analyze it. After completing this research, the researcher found out that 1) the concept of self-transcendence formulized in the framework of existentialism implied to be inevitably anthropocentric, which needed to be criticized by replacing it with the Islamic theocentric framework; 2) the misconception of its spiritual aspect provides experiences that cannot represent genuine and authentic spirituality, whether in a state of inclusive spirituality or a form of spiritual pluralism; 3) self-transcendence from Islamic perspective required not only horizontal connection with nature but also vertical transpersonal with God so that it can fulfil one's inherent nature and consequently live a meaningful life in obedience to his God. Based on these findings, the researcher concluded that self-transcendence in transpersonal psychology was infected with the Western paradigm. Therefore, it should be cured by applying the Islamic worldview to gain proper relation between self and God and other creatures.

Abstract

Religious diversity in Indonesia is confronted with two significant challenges. The first is the challenge posed by those who espouse radical or liberalist views, while the second is the refraction of religious pluralism by those who equate its main objectives. Consequently, the presence of religious moderation represents a viable approach to fostering tolerance and harmony between religious communities. The objective of this research is to examine the values of religious moderation in the context of al-Wasathiyyah al-Islamiyyah, with a view to identifying potential solutions. This type of research is a literature review (LR) that analyses and synthesises the strengthening of religious moderation according to al-Wasathiyyah al-Islamiyyah. Accordingly, to buttress this line of inquiry, the researcher has adopted a descriptive-analytical approach, complemented by a religious phenomenology methodology. The findings of this study indicate that al-Wasathiyyah al-Islamiyyah is characterised by a set of prioritised indicators, namely the maintenance of al-Maqashid asy-Syari’ah on religious freedom, unity on the purpose of life, unity on life guidelines, and unity on human diversity. In order to maintain the unity of multicultural Indonesian society, it is necessary to create an atmosphere of justice, peace, harmony and tolerance. This will enrich the inclusive and progressive Islamic discourse in the contemporary era.

Abstract

Requests from Gontor alumni who are studying in Egypt to provide scientific manuscript writing training are very high. Their reasons are very basic because students during their Egyptian studies are not required to write papers or theses as their final assignments. This Community Service (PkM) aims to provide writing training so that Egyptian students who are members of the Pondok Modern Gontor Family Association (IKPM) have provisions for Masters studies. In the preparation of the paper, the author uses a descriptive-analytical method. With the zooming method, this scientific writing training can be carried out with the following results. First, students get a training model for writing scientific papers in general through nine stages. Second, students get guidance on how to write paragraphs and continue with how to quote correctly. Third, students get access to literature references from several national and international journals and various book references from online media. Fourth, students receive training and practice in writing scientific papers with a monitoring and clinic pattern once a week.
