Abstract

Modern psychology is often considered inadequate in addressing human psychological issues holistically due to its lack of spiritual dimension and an overemphasis on psychological aspects. This leads to the loss of essential direction and purpose in understanding human behavior. This study aims to explore the approach of Islamization as a solution to improve the shortcomings of modern psychology. The focus is on the reconceptualization of epistemology in modern psychological science through the integration of Islamic values with modern psychological concepts and theories. This research uses a qualitative approach by collecting data from various relevant literature sources on modern psychology and Islam. The data are analyzed thematically to identify patterns and themes that emerge in the context of the epistemology and methodology of psychology. The results of the study indicate that Islamization in modern psychological science can result in a reconceptualization of epistemology that considers the spiritual and psychological dimensions of humans in a balanced manner. By integrating Islamic principles into psychological theories and methods, this approach provides a more comprehensive understanding of human behavior. Consequently, Islamic psychology becomes a significant alternative in healing and comprehensively understanding human psychological issues, as well as restoring essential direction and purpose in modern psychological science. This research contributes valuable insights into the development of more inclusive and holistic psychological theories and practices.

Abstract

Researchers have widely reviewed the study of neuroscience, but the historicity of this science is not widely known. The rapid development of modern neuroscience cannot be separated from the contributions of Muslim scientists in the Middle Ages. This paper aims to explain the history of neuroscience in the Islamic intellectual tradition and its development to influence Western civilization. For this reason, this paper uses a descriptive-analytical method with library research. The study results show that Muslim scientists such as Abu Zaid Al-Balkh, Ibn Sina, Al-Ghazali Az-Zahrawi, and Al-Razi's contribution to modern neuroscience is impressive and cannot be forgotten. As an example of research on the brain's anatomy and its disorders discussed by Vesalius and Golgi, they refer a lot to books by Ibn Sina, Al-Balkhi, and Al-Zahrawi. Rene Descartes, who discovered the theory of brain physiology, has long been discussed by Al-Razi. Even the introduction of the relationship between brain and brain function was only known in the 17th century and has long been discussed by Al-Ghazali. An original and imaginative thought regarding one of the human body’s organs, Muslims are unaware of the extensive research done on neuroscience by traditional Muslim scholars, who were able to bring Islamic culture to its pinnacle in Andalusia and Cordoba. Therefore, it is appropriate to bring the findings back into the study material with full seriousness in the form and fresh face if Muslims want to advance.

Abstract

Mindfulness has recently become a mainstay for the treatment of various modern mental illnesses. However, Islam sees this as problematic regarding the objective of surrendering oneself and concentrating one's thoughts. This research aims to examine the concept of mindfulness from an Islamic worldview perspective. This research uses descriptive analytical methods. Data is processed using content analysis. The results of this study show several important points. First, the practice of mindfulness has a theological-historical connection, namely in the form of activities inherited from Buddhist believers known as sati. Second, the Islamic worldview considers that all activities are a form of commitment and have a vertical relationship to the creator Allah SWT. which has ta'abbudiyyah values and this requires involvement in activities with religious values. Third, in Islamic literature, mental problems are important and their treatment has special emphasis. Fourth, the soul has a vertical bond to the Creator so that treatment of the soul must be fundamental and comprehensive. With that, tazkiyah al-nafs in Islamic teachings is the best solution in eliminating mental illnesses such as stress, skinophrezia, etc. by living the Islamic Worldview, bringing Islamic treasures to life, and providing fundamental solutions to every problem in life.

Abstract

Transpersonal psychology offers a perspective that emphasizes the spiritual aspects of human experiences and consciousness, summarized in a concept that represents human's spiritual consciousness, self-transcendence. Unfortunately, its formalized concept, along with its spiritual aspects, showed the necessity for further inquiry, especially from the Islamic worldview. This research aimed to critically review the concept of self-transcendence in transpersonal psychology from the perspective of the Islamic worldview. This research was done by applying the library research method, collecting data from the works of Viktor Frankl and Abraham Maslow, who are prominent figures in the related topic, in addition to the works of various scholars about transpersonal psychology. The researcher used an analytical method to analyze it. After completing this research, the researcher found out that 1) the concept of self-transcendence formulized in the framework of existentialism implied to be inevitably anthropocentric, which needed to be criticized by replacing it with the Islamic theocentric framework; 2) the misconception of its spiritual aspect provides experiences that cannot represent genuine and authentic spirituality, whether in a state of inclusive spirituality or a form of spiritual pluralism; 3) self-transcendence from Islamic perspective required not only horizontal connection with nature but also vertical transpersonal with God so that it can fulfil one's inherent nature and consequently live a meaningful life in obedience to his God. Based on these findings, the researcher concluded that self-transcendence in transpersonal psychology was infected with the Western paradigm. Therefore, it should be cured by applying the Islamic worldview to gain proper relation between self and God and other creatures.

First, students get a training model for writing scientific papers in general through nine stages. Second, students get guidance on how to write paragraphs and continue with how to quote correctly. Third, students get access to literature references from several national and international journals and various book references from online media. Fourth, students receive training and practice in writing scientific papers with a monitoring and clinic pattern once a week.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah and NU are two of the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. Both of these organizations have significant mass and inter-related to each other. These organizations stand up long before the independence of Indonesia announced. Muhammadiyah itself was founded by Kyai Ahmad Dahlan and Nahdlatul Ulama Hasyim was initiated by Kyai Ash'ari. Sincerity and the struggle of its founder, who make this great organization can exist and be accepted by the community to this day. The organization is also a symbol of strength of the Islamic organizations in Indonesia. The two religious organizations also does little merit in the fight for Indonesia's independence. Although many of the negative view that menyasar him but did not make the harmony both fade. It is visible from their struggle in propagating dakwahnya in Indonesia with sincere and full of struggle. Da’wah movement not only focused in purification of belief but also plays a role in answering the problems that exist in society. By using the methods to critical review I tried to dig the closeness between the Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama which can not be disputed again.
