Abstract

Stunting refers to a condition characterized by the failure of a toddler to achieve optimal growth and development, primarily attributable to sustained inadequate dietary intake leading to chronic energy deficiency. Consequently, children affected by stunting exhibit a diminished stature compared to their peers of the same age cohort. The primary objective of this study was to ascertain the potential correlation between maternal knowledge levels and attitudes concerning infant and child feeding practices amidst instances of stunted growth, specifically focusing on the context of Ngalang Village within the Gunungkidul region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This type of quantitative research uses a cross-sectional approach. The study encompassed the entire demographic of mothers with children aged 0 to 60 months exhibiting stunted growth within Ngalang Village, Gunungkidul, comprising 85 respondents. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique, using the Slovin formula, and a sample of 46 respondents was obtained.  Statistical analysis was conducted using the chi-square test and obtained a p-value of 0.504 (< 0.05). This study concludes that there is no significant influence between knowledge and maternal attitudes about stunting infant and child feeding (PMBA) in Ngalang Village, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. The next researcher should look at the factors of the living environment so that it can be known whether the environment in which they live affects attitudes.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the nutritional status cases experienced by most toddlers worldwide. WHO 2020 revealed that Indonesia is the second country in Asia with the highest prevalence of 31.8% of stunting problems in toddlers. Several factors cause toddlers to experience stunting, including indirect factors, namely socioeconomic status. The socioeconomic status of the residents of Ngalang on the incidence of stunting toddlers aged 12-60 months was found to be 40 toddlers short and 6 toddlers very short. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between socioeconomic status and the incidence of stunting in Ngalang Gunungkidul. This type of quantitative research uses a cross-sectional design. Population 85 parents of toddlers 12-60 months with stunting conditions. The sample was obtained using the Solvin method: 46 parents of stunted toddlers who met the inclusion criteria. After the Spearmen rho test was obtained, many members in the family p=0.019; of many children of the family, p=0.010, the father's educational status is p=0.058, the mother's educational status is p=0.025, and the monthly income in the family p=0.023. There is Stunting is a prevalent nutritional issue among toddlers globally. The results showed a significant relationship between family size, number of children, mother's educational status, family income, and stunting in toddlers. However, no significant relationship was found between the father's educational status and stunting, suggesting the need for further research on the father's role. Preventative measures include participating in premarital classes and prioritizing a child's growth and development through proper nutrition, parenting, healthcare, and environmental sanitation.Keyword: Socioeconomics, Stunting, toddlers

Abstract

Stunting is the most common form of child malnutrition worldwide, affecting 161 million children aged 0 to 5 years. One way to look at a community's general health condition is through the socioeconomic status within that group. This study aimed to determine the relationship between occupation and income with the incidence of stunting in the Ngalang sub-district. The design of this study was cross-sectional with a population of 85 parents who had toddlers aged 0-60 months with stunting conditions in Ngalang Village, Gunungkidul Yogyakarta. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the Slovin method with an error tolerance of 10percent, so the sample size was 46 parents and stunted toddlers who met the inclusion criteria. Data were analysed using Spearman's rho test. The results showed that the father's job was p equal 0.021, the mother's job was p equal 0.70, and the family income was p equal 0.023. There is an association between father's occupation and family income on the condition of stunted toddlers. However, there is no relationship between the mother's job and the condition of stunted toddlers in Ngalang Village. The advice given in this study is that families with stunted toddlers should look for opportunities to increase family income, such as finding additional work or starting a small business from home.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is still a serious problem in Indonesia, one of which is caused by malnutrition since pregnancy. Objective: To systematically identify and map the use of HBM in understanding pregnant women's compliance with nutritional intervention programs, especially free nutritious meals. Methods: This scoping review was conducted based on the Arksey and O'Malley framework and followed the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The literature was searched through the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases in 2018–2025. The studies reviewed were original studies with a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approach that used HBM in pregnant women. Results: From 12 selected studies, it was found that HBM components such as perceived benefits, barriers, and cues to action had a significant effect on the nutritional behavior of pregnant women. Driving factors include culture-based education, family support, and the use of educational media. Meanwhile, the main barriers include economic constraints, food access, and cultural norms. Conclusion: HBM effectively understands pregnant women's behavior in the free nutritious meal program. HBM-based educational interventions integrated with community approaches and digital technology are recommended to improve the program's effectiveness.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Maternal health is a crucial aspect of pregnancy, requiring adequate healthcare access to ensure the well-being of both mother and fetus. However, various social, cultural, and economic factors influence healthcare utilization among pregnant women. Objective: This study aims to analyze the impact of trust and social norms on healthcare access among pregnant women in Ngalang, Gedangsari, Gunungkidul. Methods: A quantitative approach was employed using multiple regression analysis, with healthcare access as the dependent variable and trust and social norms as independent variables. Data were collected from mothers with young children (0–6 years) through a structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and classical assumption tests were conducted to ensure data validity. Results: The results indicate that most respondents (76.3%) have high levels of trust and adherence to social norms, which significantly influence their utilization of healthcare services. The regression analysis shows a positive and significant relationship between trust, social norms, and healthcare access, with a determination coefficient (R²) of 19.4%.Conclusion: This suggests that while trust and social norms contribute to healthcare utilization, other factors also play a role. Additionally, traditional beliefs and limited health literacy may hinder healthcare access despite high trust levels.
