Abstract

Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is voluntary behavior that supports the effectiveness of the organization. Factors that affect OCB teachers in Islamic educational institutions need to be studied to improve the quality of learning. This study aims to analyze the influence of Islamic Leadership, Work-life Balance, and Organizational Culture on Organizational Citizenship Behavior by Mediating Job Satisfaction in teachers of Islamic educational institutions. The research method uses a quantitative approach with survey design. The research population is 164 teachers with 101 teachers who are determined through purposive sampling with a minimum working period of 2 years. The analysis tool used is Partial Least Square (PLS) with a standard of alpha significance of ten percent. The results of the study show that Islamic Leadership and Organizational Culture have a significant positive effect on OCB. Organizational Culture also has a significant positive effect on Job Satisfaction, which then affects OCB. On the other hand, Islamic Leadership has no significant effect on Job Satisfaction, and Work-life Balance does not have a significant effect on Job Satisfaction or OCB. Job Satisfaction mediates the relationship between Organizational Culture and OCB. The implications of the study show that strengthening Organizational Culture is the main strategy in improving teachers' OCB, both directly and through increasing Job Satisfaction. Islamic leadership effectively encourages OCB directly.

Abstract

Abstract

Tetrameles nudliflora is one of the endemic plants in Wallace region, especially in Mekongga Forest, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. As part of our project in the field of natural drug discovery based on local bioresources, this study aimed to isolate secondary metabolite compounds from the ethyl acetate fractions of the leaves of T. nudiflora and evaluate their cytotoxic activities against breast carcinoma cancer lines, MCF-7. The methods used were various chromatography techniques such as vacuum column chromatography, gravitation column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, preparative thin layer chromatography, and re-crystallization using two different organic solvents. In the present study, two flavonoid compounds, kaempferol (1) and quercetin (2) were identified. The structures of 1-2 were determined using serial spectroscopic techniques, including mass spectrometry, one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance. Moreover, using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5 diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay method, both compounds showed in vitro cytotoxic activity IC50 of 34.162 and 133.148 μg mL-1, respectively against MCF-7 cell lines.

Abstract

Terestrial fungi are of great importance as potential sources of pharmaceutical agent. Aspergillus aculeatus, a fungus isolated from soil sample collected in Indonesia, was cultured in liquid media to investigate a novel compound as inhibitor -glucosidase. The mycelium extract of A. aculeatus shows potential activity against Saccharomyces cereviseae -glucosidase and mild activity against mammalian -glucosidase with IC50 values of 9.57 μg/mL and 470.76 mg/mL, respectively. Enzyme assay-guided fractionation of this extract afforded rubrofusarin (1). Rubrofusarin, a linear naphtho--pyrone, is a natural pigment from Aspergillus sp. Interestingly, compound 1 shows potential inhibitory activity against mammalian -glucosidase (IC50 of 92.7 μg/mL), but no to S. cereviseae -glucosidase. The results suggest that A. aculeatus is a promising natural source as a lead compound in the discovery of antidiabetic drug.

Abstract

The study on Macarang hypolueca (Reichb.f. & Zoll.), which was collected from secondary forests around Samarinda City, East Kalimantan, involved phytochemical investigations that led to the isolation of a flavone type compound of flavonoid from the ethyl acetate fraction. To separate the compounds, silica gel column chromatography was utilized with a gradient solvent system of n-hexane and ethyl acetate, along with the addition of 5%. Infrared analysis (FTIR), mass spectrum (LC-ESI-MS), and nuclear magnetic resonance (1D- and 2D-NMR) were used to identify and elucidate the structure. Based on spectroscopic data and comparison with appropriate references, the isolated compound was identified as apigenin

Abstract

Learning plays a crucial role in fostering students’ critical thinking skills, enabling them to address the challenges they face in their daily lives. This study was conducted in Sumedang, West Java, where students experience limited water availability. The main water sources are located far from residential areas, requiring students to make long trips each morning to fetch water from a distant river. This qualitative descriptive study aimed to explore how students employ critical thinking skills while engaging in contextual STEM learning through the development of a non-electric water pump project. The project involved seventh-grade students participating in science classes using a contextual STEM approach over one semester. Data were collected and analysed through observation, document analysis, and audio and video recordings using Transcript-Based Lesson Analysis. Indicators of critical thinking such as questioning, articulating assumptions, and demonstrating open-mindedness were observed during the STEM learning process of designing the non-electric water pump. The emergence of these skills varied across learning phases, individual characteristics, and group dynamics. Contextual STEM learning not only promotes critical thinking but also equips students with essential life skills for global competition in the 21st century by preparing them to solve real-world problems. The findings of this study provide insights for educators in designing more meaningful science learning experiences in the future.
