Abstract

The inevitable transformations brought about by the rapidly changing Internet of Things (IoT) impact all aspects of life today, including management and businesses. Specifically, areas of businesses depending mainly on internal supply chain capacity are experiencing a paradigm shift to ensure effective company performance regarding purchases, production, company sales, and product distribution. This shift means that challenges faced by the internal chain supply unit can be solved by adopting and adapting IoT as a new way to minimize work delays and save time. Moreover, IoT automatically leads to performance and productivity increases. Therefore, the present paper aims to justify adopting and adapting IoT applications in Indonesian companies, including retail businesses. Most companies' internal supply chain units face several difficulties during and after the devastating peak of COVID-19, which has led to a total global lockdown. These problems' complexity is exponential and requires innovative ways to solve their prevailing challenges. This study used observation, interview, and documentary research methods through a large-scale survey. The survey obtained the necessary information regarding how companies utilize IoT to improve their performance and productivity without hindering their internal supply chain and production units. The study concluded that the adoption of IoT, if well implemented, leads to a sustainable company and uninterrupted supply chain performance, indicating the proper performance of the organization. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-SP1-017 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Background: The development of digital transformation has encouraged modern organizations to utilize artificial intelligence to improve decision-making effectiveness. However, the implementation of AI in organizations still requires the support of human communication to ensure effective information interpretation, organizational coordination, and the quality of managerial decisions. This study aims to analyze the effect of the integration of artificial intelligence and organizational communication on managerial decision-making in hospitality companies in Java and Bali. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. Data collection involved distributing questionnaires to 182 respondents, consisting of managers, supervisors, and professional staff in service, hospitality, education, and digital companies in Java and Bali. Data analysis used multiple linear regression with SPSS. Results: The results of the study indicate that Artificial Intelligence has a positive and significant effect on managerial decision-making with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Human communication also has a positive and significant effect on managerial decision-making with a significance value of 0.001 < 0.05. Simultaneously, artificial intelligence and human communication have a significant effect on managerial decision-making with a coefficient of determination of 64.8%. The results of the study indicate that the integration of AI and human communication is the most appropriate approach in creating an effective decision-making system based on human-centered management in the era of digital transformation. Conclusion: This research provides theoretical contributions to the development of technology communication and digital management studies and provides practical implications for organizations in optimizing the use of AI by strengthening organizational communication.

Abstract

The specialty coffee industry in Bangli Regency, particularly Kintamani Arabica Coffee, is currently facing the challenges of the global market in the Fourth Wave Coffee era, which demands traceability and high efficiency. This study aims to analyze the influence of digital transformation and supplier collaboration in improving coffee supply chain capabilities in Bangli Regency, Bali Province. By integrating the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Dynamic Capabilities theories, this study positions technology and strategic partnerships as key drivers of regional competitiveness. The research method used is a quantitative explanatory survey technique with 100 business actors in the coffee supply chain in Bangli Regency. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares (PLS) through SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results reveal that digital transformation fundamentally improves operational visibility and agility through real-time data synchronization. In addition, supplier collaboration based on trust and knowledge sharing within the Subak Abian system has been shown to strengthen supply stability and consistent raw material quality. Digitalization also plays a crucial role in strengthening the legitimacy of Geographical Indication (GI) certification through a digital traceability system. Overall, supply chain capabilities act as a strategic mechanism that converts digital and relational resources into sustainable competitive advantage. This study recommends strengthening digital infrastructure in rural Bangli and improving technological literacy among smallholder farmers to minimize information asymmetry in the international market.
