Abstract

Introduction: Students who writing their thesis experience difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic result in anxiety. The feeling can arise due to a low self-efficacy that view difficult experiences as threats and think about the possibility of failure. Previous studies show different relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety thus requires further research particularly in seeking the relationship of self-efficacy and anxiety on thesis’s writing among undergraduate nursing students. Methods: This study was a correlational study with all of undergraduate nursing students who is writing a thesis as the population. Subjects (112 students) were selected by a proportionate stratified random sampling method. Questionnaires used in this study were General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and Zung Self Rating Anxiety Scale (ZSRAS). Data analysis was performed by Pearson Correlation tests. Results: Main results distinguished that there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety of undergraduate nursing students who is writing a thesis with r = -0.445 which is indicate that the relationship between two variable is strong enough.Discussion: Students need to make a list of goals to be achieved, so they are encouraged to try to achieve these goals more. Moreover, students can conduct a variety of things to reduce their anxiety.

Abstract

Background: Public health services today require community empowerment so that services become affordable in every village in the community. Health cadres are existing non-professional health workers who are trained to be able to support patients or the community in addressing health problems faced. Health cadres as non-professionals who are directly dealing with the community are required to increase their ability continuously according to the changes that occur in the community.Purpose: The purpose of this study is that health cadres can improve their understanding holistically about health, through the SI-SEHO application tool so that health cadres can monitor the health of patients in the community.Method: The research used is descriptive using a qualitative approach obtained from the results of empowerment and cadre training activities using the SI-SEHO application. Data analysis is based on the objectives of the training on the use of the SI-SEHO application. Results: The results of this research activity are that health cadres can understand the meaning of health holistically that is inseparable from several dimensions of understanding holistic health. As stated by SP respondent 4 "Holistic health is comprehensive health, such as body and mind health." The ability of cadres to help individuals, families and communities increase with cadres saying "now we can help others in the community by registering through applications". Other results were obtained from research subjects as several people had been detected with physical illness and some people were detected at risk for mental disorders. Conclusion: The use of information technology is able to improve the knowledge and ability of health cadres in monitoring sick individuals or patients in the community. The development of health information systems is currently needed in the development of health services in today's digital era, such as empowering health cadres through information system training.

Abstract

Background: Smoking is a habit that causes many health problems. Nicotine substances in cigarettes cause addiction and carbon monoxide inhaled is poisonous. Hypnotherapy using induction hanung technique is an alternative which can be used to change someone’s smoking behaviors. This therapy is performed by giving hypnotic suggestions combined with a massage at acupuncture points of neguan, yintang, and taiyang. Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the effects of hypnotherapy using induction hanung technique on the level of cigarette dependence and carbon monoxide in exhaled breath among active smokers in Kesdam IV/ Diponegoro College of Nursing, Semarang. Methods: The present study employed a true-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. A total of 40 students were recruited as samples and randomly assigned to the intervention group (n=20) and control group (n=20). The intervention in the form of hypnotherapy using induction hanung technique was given for six times in two weeks. The instruments used were Fagerstorm Test for Cigarette Dependence (FTCD) and smokerlyzer. Data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney test and independent t-test.Results: The results showed a decrease in the score of cigarette dependence level in the intervention group by 1.25 after the intervention was given with pretest mean value of 1.45 (SD=1.132). The result of Mann-Whitney test showed a significant difference in the cigarette dependence score between the intervention and control groups with a pvalue of 0.028. The level of carbon monoxide in the exhaled breath also decreased by 8.80 ppm after the intervention from the pretest mean values of 12.55 (SD=6.669). The independent sample t-test result also showed a significant difference in the carbon monoxide level between the two groups with a p-value of 0.000.Conclusion: The present findings showed that hypnotherapy using induction hanung technique affected the level of cigarette dependence and carbon monoxide in exhaled breath among the active smokers. Based on the findings, this therapy is recommended as an alternative to nursing intervention for the smoking cessation programs.

Abstract

Self-reliance of TB patients has an effect on the adherence to treatment in the healing process. To achieve self-reliance, patients require supports from the family and community, as well as knowledge and skills to be able to take care of themselves independently. Healthcare cadres are one form of supports that the patients need to maintain self-care capabilities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of health cadres’ supports on the physical self-reliance in pulmonary TB patients. This study was a quantitative research with a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design with the control group. The samples were 44 patients recruited using purposive sampling technique with inclusion and exclusion criteria and were assigned to two groups: intervention group (n = 22) and control group (n = 22). Instrument used modified healty card owner by Dwidiyanti. The intervention given was in the form of health cadres’ supports given for six times in six weeks. A statistical analysis using paired t-test was performed to identify the effects of the intervention on the physical self-reliance in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. The results showed that the intervention group obtained a p-value of 0.00 and α of 0.05, where p-value < α, or p-value <0.05, indicating that there was an effect of health cadres’ supports on physical self-reliance in patients with pulmonary TB. Meanwhile, in the control group, a p-value of 0.529 and α of 0.05 were found, where p-value >α or p-value > 0.05, indicating that there was no significant difference in the patients’ physical self-reliance after given supports from the health cadres. Support interventions of health cadres improved the physical self-reliance in patients with pulmonary TB.
