Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of diverse ethnicities among students at SMA Negeri 4 Batam which have a positive or negative influence on students. This study aims to identify and analyze the impact of inter-ethnic student social interaction at SMAN 4 Batam and to explain the teacher's role in the social interaction of inter-ethnic students at SMAN 4 Batam. The approach used is qualitative with the type of case study research. The research informants were determined using a purposive sampling technique with the following criteria: Teachers, Students, and Student Assistants at SMAN 4 Batam. Data validity tests include credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability tests. Data analysis used the interactive analysis model Miles and Huberman. The results of the study show that the impact of inter-ethnic student social interaction is solidarity between the same ethnic groups, and stereotypes towards different ethnic groups. The teacher's role in inter-ethnic student interactions is to unite students in study groups, hold fashion show competitions, and encourage the use of Indonesian. Abstract

This article discusses the use of educational radio owned by SMP Negeri 4 Padang Panjang. This article uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis approach. The participation of the use of information technology in learning media is considered strategic, especially in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Government policies that limit community activities, including restrictions on face-to-face learning in schools, have initiated various parties to develop learning media that can be used remotely. The various media developed are very diverse, ranging from print-based media such as modules or student activity sheets to technology-based media such as learning videos or learning broadcasts. Radio Education 104.5 FM, which was initiated by SMP Negeri 4 Padang Panjang, is the right choice to maintain interactive learning for students at SMP Negeri 4 Padang Panjang and Padang Panjang City students in general.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the woman and education ​​in Minangkabau songket. Songket cloth is a sacred cultural object for the Minangkabau people. Besides showing the existence of culture, songket cloth is also not just anyone who is allowed to wear it. However, songket cloth is starting to be converted by the community. Songket cloth is not only used by datuak and bundo kanduang in Minangkabau traditional ceremonies. But it is also used for various non-sacred events, including attending birthday shows, farewell events between students at schools, graduation ceremonies, khatam qur'an, and is also used for wallets where money is kept, room interior decoration, souvenirs/souvenirs, as sandals, school bags, as car accessories, uniforms for stand keepers in performances such as exhibitions, bazaars and other trade missions, as ethnic identity in a performance in another cultural sphere. However, not many people know about how the birth process and the value of a piece of Minangkabau songket cloth. Interview methods and literature studies are used as data collectors to describe the processes and values ​​in Minangkabau songket.

Abstract

Learning media, in general, is a process tool that stimulates the thoughts, feelings, attention, and abilities or skills of students so that they can encourage the learning process. In the Fashion Design course, students are required to be able to create a design based on various sources of creative and innovative ideas. To create an innovative design, we need a learning media that is able to determine goals, directions, and guidelines in creating works, one of which is the mood board media. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of a mood board learning media for home economics undergraduate students. Concentration of Fashion in developing design ideas. This study uses the mixed method (combined method: qualitative and quantitative). According to the results of the calculation of the 19 items related to the effectiveness of using the mood board learning media that the author gave to 34 students in the class, they were included in the "effective" category. In this study, it can be interpreted that the effectiveness of the use of mood board learning media in the Fashion Design course for S1 PKK students concentrating on Fashion Design has been effectively implemented.

Abstract

Various ethnic students have triggered social interaction forms, like looking for friends during break time to go to the cafeteria or sitting relaxed in the school park. Likewise, students tend to choose the optional extracurricular activities based on their friends because they are reluctant to get involved in an activity if their fellow friends are not in the group. This research aimed to identify forms of social interaction of students of different ethnicities at a public senior high school in Batam. It used qualitative with a case study approach. The participants were the student assistant principal, the English teacher, and students at a public senior high school in Batam. Data analysis used the interactive analysis model. The research results showed the associative social interaction forms were seen during extracurricular activities, collaboration in study groups, and classroom cleaning competitions. Meanwhile, the dissociative social interaction was used when the use of local languages during conflicts and disputes over student council elections.

Abstract

Istano Basa Pagaruyung has a function from a Minangkabau perspective. . As a Minangkabau heir, it is obliged to study the culture and function of this perspective, especially for students. However, as time went by, there were changes in the social culture of the Minangkabau people, who started to abandon the Rumah Gadang architectural style, so it influenced the knowledge of the Minangkabau people themselves regarding cultural values, especially the construction of Istano Basa Pagaruyung as a Minangkabau cultural heritage. It is due to socio-cultural changes in society.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the form of Suntiang Pasumandan, analyze changes in the function of Suntiang Pasumandan into Suntiang Panari (dancers) at Tuah Sakato Art Studio, analyzing the types of materials used in making Suntiang Pasumandan and Suntiang Penari at Tuah Sakato Art Studio. This research was qualitative. In collecting the data, the researchers used observation, interviews, documents, and literature studies. The steps of analyzing data were data reduction, data presentation, data verification, and conclusions. The results showed that the changes from Suntiang Pasumandan to Suntiang Panari at Tuah Sakato Art Studio came from two aspects. The first aspect was commercial needs. It was about whether the dancers' headdresses were good at Tuah Sakato Art Studio. The second aspect was the change in the function of use. Suntiang Pasumandan was used in cultural activities as a headdress in traditional marriage processions, supported by the rules that apply in the traditional procession.

Abstract

This research looked at the background, history, and meaning related to this ritual and how culture plays an essential role in shaping the community identity. The Bakar Tongkang Ritual is a way for the Chinese community to express gratitude, honor their ancestors, and maintain their cultural identity. It also serves as a symbol of unity, commitment, and a way to connect with their faith and spirituality. It highlights the importance of symbols, meaning, and interpretation in ritual and how these elements are paramount in the overall cultural experience. The research method used a qualitative approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and documents. The results indicated a detailed exploration of the Bakar Tongkang ritual, its historical context, its significance in culture, and the related meanings. It underscores the importance of rituals in preserving cultural heritage, fostering unity, and expressing gratitude.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce valid e-modules based on discovery learning, and effective in basic food subjects. These e-modules based on discovery learning are designed to improve students’ understanding so that it can improve students' learning outcomes. The method in this study uses Research and Development (R&D) with 4-D development procedures (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis techniques to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of e-modules based on discovery learning. The results obtained from this development research: The validity of e-modules based on discovery learning is declared valid on the media and material aspects. The practicality of e-modules based on discovery learning from teacher and student responses is stated to be very practical. The effectiveness of e-modules based on discovery learning is stated to be effective in improving learning outcomes. Based on the findings of this study it is concluded that the e-modules based on discovery learning are valid, practical, and effective to be used as a learning aid in basic food subjects.

Abstract

This research is about the implementation of batik learning during the Covid-19 period at SMK N 8 Padang. During the Covid-19 pandemic, students learned from home without face to face, this resulted in the delay of the batik learning process, where students experienced difficulties in practicing batik. Because the learning process is carried out online and offline, while the batik learning process takes a long time. Students are only allowed 5 to 8 people in one day. So that the hours of face-to-face (practice) are only 3 to 4 times in one semester. This resulted in the delay in the batik learning process at SMK N 8 Padang during the Covid- 19 pandemic. This research method is a qualitative method. Types of data in the form of primary and secondary data. The informants of this research were Mr. Deswandi, Mrs. Rita and Mrs. Diana as batik learning teachers at SMK N 8 Padang. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques were carried out using interactive model analysis techniques related to the subject matter with data reduction, data collection, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that (1) the batik learning teacher prepares learning plans, namely learning tools such as syllabus, KI, KD, RPP, and modules for learning guides. (2) the process of implementing batik learning is carried out online through the zoom application and whatsapp group, starting with reading greetings and prayers, absent, motivation, giving material in the form of power points and learning videos, asking questions and giving assignments. (3) the scoring is done in stages, starting from the design, canting, coloring, quality, neatness. The process of giving grades is done offline, students collect assignments at school. Obstacles in learning batik at SMK N 8 Padang, among others, the difficulty of learning to practice batik done online and offline.
