Abstract

Globalization has proven to spur economic growth for many countries in the world. It has, however, also negative impacts in terms of widening income gap, environmental degradation etc. such that many are worried that the growth will not be sustainable. Triple bottom line was introduced to make the economic growth and company competitiveness more sustainable. Although to define the concept is easy, to make it implemented, especially by developing countries, is another matter. Education and research track by universities is suggested to be one best way to accelerate the implementation of the concept. A case of Graduate Program of Management and Business (MB-IPB) is used to illustrate the attempt.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze factors which influence or encourage the fishermen as the participants in land right certification program to be willing to secure their land certificate to obtain loans and to analyze the impact of land certification program for the fishermen to increase their income and welfare. The study was conducted in Indramayu as an area which has a fisherman land certification program. The data obtained in this study were analyzed by logistic regression and multiple linear regression. The logistic regression analysis was performed by using feasibility test model (goodness of fit) and Nagelkerke R Square Coefficient. Moreover, the multiple linear regression analysis was performed by using F Test and determination coefficient analysis (R²). The results showed that the fishermen status and educational background, land width, ownership of other assets and side business are included as factors that significantly influence the interest to use their land certificate obtained from "Fishermen Empowerment Program and Small-Scaled Fishery Businesses through the Certification of Land Right” as their collateral. The results were supported by highlighting that p-value for each variable is smaller than 0,10 and the educational factor has a significant effect which is higher than 0,009 compared to other factors. Having a higher education level encourages the fishermen to secure their land certificates in order to obtain capital in increasing their income and welfare. Keywords: logistic regression, fishermen, income, land certificate, welfare

Abstract

Demand for agricultural products in Indonesia increases in response to Indonesia's high population growth. With more limited agricultural land, agricultural productivity can be increased by the addition of fertilizer. Biofertilizer is currently popular fertilizer and can become a solution to increase productivity of agricultural products in limited land. PT PHN is a new company established in 2015 and produces biofertilizer under the brand XYZ . This research was conducted to analyze consumer perception of biofertilizer and XYZ fertilizer. The company tries to understand customer’s problems and provides solutions with customer development model (CDM) method. Understanding and solution to the problem were then used as revision of the company's business model with business model canvas (BMC) approach. Primary and secondary data were used in this research. Primary data were obtained by observation and interview using several respondents. Secondary data were obtained from PT PHN staffs, BPS, and other sources related to this research. The results show that consumers do not have enough understanding about biofertilizer. XYZ fertilizer improves agricultural productivity but has some obstacles in its use. The business model of PT PHN is updated with some additions and subtractions by considering the CDM results. Keywords: BMC, business model, CDM, strategy, customer discovery

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of COVID-19 on the financial performance of Indonesia’s poultry industry companies. The samples used in this study were broiler farming companies of XYZ Group from September 2019 to August 2020. Financial performance is used as the dependent variable to see the effect of the independent on the dependent. The independent variables in this study are leverage, liquidity, revenue, profitability, firm size, and COVID-19. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis with a quantitative approach. In this study, a z-score test, regression test, and internal firm interviews supported the results. The results showed that there were indications of problems with the firm's financial health. COVID-19 does not significantly affect its financial performance, but several other factors influence it, namely revenue, profitability, and firm size. Several forms of strategies that can be formulated for companies are maintaining cash flow by extending the debt period and shortening accounts receivable to restore the firm's financial health. Then make efficiency in the cost of goods sold and improve operational cooperation to improve the firm's financial performance. Companies can also increase funding by obtaining additional capital from a holding company before financing from outside parties. Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to find the optimal portfolio of Hajj fund management by the Islamic banks in Indonesia. BPKH, as an authority, can place the Hajj fund on Islamic bank deposits. However, Islamic banks limited the expected returns and risks set by BPKH so that the appropriate strategy is required to establish the optimal of portfolio. Islamic banks face a trade-off because of the increased level of risk constrains the intention to get higher returns. This study uses a mean-variance portfolio optimization theory to construct such an optimal portfolio. Finally, this study recommends Murabaha financing and SBIS to Islamic banks as the optimal portfolio selection. The combination of an efficient portfolio that has formed cannot be fully employed because the expectation limits them. However, Islamic banks can still select the optimal portfolio combination according to their risk preferences.JEL Classification: G11, G18
