Abstract

EnglishPati includes the prospective regencies for accelerating the growth rate and area diversification of shallot production in Central Java. However, the shallot production and productivity in Pati were unstable with a decreasing trend in recent years. The objective of this study is to evaluate the status and determinants of the shallot production efficiency using the Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier production function. The research was conducted in three production centers sub-districts, Wedarijaksa, Batangan, and Jaken, in October 2017. The primary data were collected by interviewing 33 respondents which were selected through the stratified sampling technique. The results indicated that shallot farmers were efficient technically, but not economically and allocatively. Two significant determinants of the technical efficiency were the length of farming experience (positively related) and farmers’ age (negatively related). The farmers group membership and access to extension services were not significant, but both have positive effects on technical efficiency. Production efficiency may be increased through inputs use optimization that include reducing of anorganic fertilizer, increasing the quantity of organic fertilizer and seed, using of the true shallot seed and implementation of Integrated Pest Management. Improving the functions of agriculture extentions and farmers’ groups should also enhance shallot farming efficiency.

The partnership concept is expected to be one of the ways to improve agricultural sector in Indonesia, so that it will become a mutually beneficial partnership. One of the business entities in seed and supplier for horticultural crops is CV Rahmat Tani. However, the research has found some problems in the partnership system between CV Rahmat Tani and its farmers. The tools of analysis used were gap analysis, EPA, and Mann Whitney Test. The result of the study showed that the pattern that tied the CV and its farmers was informal model. According to partner farmers’ perception, the priorities were 1) the delivery of seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers, 2) seeds selling price 3) cultivation and seeds management training and 4) post–harvest payment. The main priority that would be improved based on the owner’s opinion was the field supervisors’ inputs and recommendation. The recommendation strategies to improve the partnership are: 1) CV Rahmat Tani and its farmers together need to optimize planning; 2) the CV needs to provide trainings about cultivation and postharvest, and to oversee the quality of seed; 3) the CV needs to socialize the postharvest payment deadline; and 4) both parties should synchronize their perception and set some rules. Abstract

Product System Service (PSS) was an excellent way to create new customer value under hyper-competition. Both product and service components were not used individually but in integrating product, service, and system and their valid combinations. This paper investigated the case study and was performed between June 2019 and April 2020. The is study aims to explore the introduction of the study's purpose of exploring the company was introducing the latest PSS model in its own " Energy Saving Company (ESCO) model" with its capitals in Indonesia. This new business model was able to tap potential business opportunities in the energy-saving industry. The study used these three methods – Soft System Methodology (SSM), General Morphological Analysis (GMA) & Business Model Canvas (BMC). In this paper, the authors performed SSM to reduce the gap that exists in the real world. GMA and BMC as other tools to ensure collaboration to form the new business model. The result showed that through PSS, the company could develop their own "ESCO model" under Energy Saving Agreement (ESA) or Energy Saving Performance Contract (ESPC), which was known as "saving back arrangement financing." By adopting PSS, the company could gain a competitive advantage since there was increasing demand for energy and limited supply in Indonesia; hence there was a vast, untapped opportunity in the energy-saving industry.
