Abstract

The rapid advancement of information and communication technologies in the Society 5.0 era has significantly transformed the operations of journalists, introducing both opportunities and challenges. One major challenge is digital stress, which arises from constant connectivity and excessive use of digital tools. This study examines the impact of organizational innovation, work climate, journalist ability, and performance on digital stress experienced by journalists. A quantitative research approach was employed, using a structured questionnaire to collect data from journalists in Jambi, Indonesia. The survey measured variables such as digital stress, work climate, organizational innovation, journalist skills, and performance, with the data analysed using SPSS software. The findings indicate that organizational innovation and work climate significantly influence digital stress, with a supportive organizational environment and a positive work climate acting as mitigating factors. However, journalist ability and performance were found to have no significant effect on digital stress. The regression model explained 54.3% of the variance in digital stress, emphasizing the importance of organizational factors in reducing stress. The study underscores the need for media organizations to foster an adaptive, balanced digital work environment by implementing mental health strategies, promoting digital resilience training, and setting clear work-life boundaries. These actions are crucial for improving the well-being and performance of journalists in an increasingly digitalized media landscape.

Abstract

This study explores the narrative structures and emotional intelligence content of short stories and folktales published in Bobo Magazine Edisi Koleksi Terbatas 50 Tahun: Cerpen Dongeng, with the aim of assessing their suitability as children’s literature. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, the research integrates structural and literary psychology approaches. Data were collected through purposive sampling of 13 texts, followed by close reading and note-taking techniques. Findings indicate that most stories follow a simple, linear narrative structure, with child or animal protagonists, familiar settings, and accessible language. Common themes include friendship, family affection, honesty, gender equality, and heroism—elements that align with the conventions of children’s literature. Structural analysis reveals that 8 out of 13 stories fully meet the criteria for children's literature. However, emotional intelligence analysis, based on Goleman's five dimensions (self-awareness, emotion regulation, self-motivation, empathy, and social skills), shows that only a few texts demonstrate all five components, while most focus primarily on emotional recognition and regulation. The study concludes that while these narratives structurally qualify as children’s literature, their representation of emotional intelligence remains limited. Given the educational value of emotional content in literature, the findings underscore the need for more intentional integration of emotional intelligence in children’s stories. The study is limited by its small corpus drawn from a single source and period (1993–2003). Future research should expand the corpus and explore alternative analytical approaches to deepen understanding of emotional intelligence in Indonesian children's literature.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Miss Imas YouTube audio-visual media on the writing skills of seventh-grade students (Phase D) at SMP Negeri 2 Kota Sungai Penuh. The background of this research is predicated on students' low writing proficiency, attributed to a lack of variety in instructional methods and the minimal use of technology-based learning media. This study employed a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental method (Nonequivalent Control Group Design). The research sample consisted of Class VII B (control group) with 27 students and Class VII D (experimental group) with 27 students, selected using a cluster sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through observation, testing, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis, normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing (t-test) facilitated by Microsoft Excel 365 and IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The results indicated that the average score of the control group increased from 53.76 in the pre-test to 61.85 in the post-test. Meanwhile, the experimental group’s average score rose significantly from 49.50 in the pre-test to 73.45 in the post-test. Based on the Independent Sample T-test, a significance value of 0.003 (p < 0.05) was obtained, indicating a significant difference in post-test scores between the control and experimental groups. Consequently, it can be concluded that the use of audio-visual media is significantly effective in enhancing students' writing skills. This research implies that Indonesian language teachers can utilize audio-visual media as an effective, innovative, and engaging instructional tool to improve students' writing abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the consistency characteristics of logical fallacy identification by a Large Language Model (LLM) and to identify the types and distribution of logical fallacies in students' undergraduate theses. The research employed a qualitative descriptive design supported by quantitative data. The sample consisted of six theses written by 2021-cohort Indonesian Language and Literature Education students at Universitas Jambi, selected through purposive sampling with a maximum-variation principle across three fields of study (Teaching, Linguistics, and Literature). Each argumentative chapter (Chapters I, II, IV, V) was analyzed using Claude Opus 4.6 across three independent runs with identical prompts, yielding 72 analysis sets. Consistency was measured using TARa (Total Agreement Rate at parsed-answer level) within an intra-rater reliability framework, while the qualitative data were analyzed with the Miles & Huberman (1994) model. The findings show that LLM identification consistency is low overall yet patterned (pooled TARa 31.58%; 24 out of 76 consistent instances): Chapter II attained the highest TARa (70.00%) and Chapter IV the lowest (3.45%). Among the 24 consistent instances, four fallacy types were identified: False Cause (54.17%), Begging the Question (25.00%), Hasty Generalization (16.67%), and Missing the Point (4.17%); no fallacies of Ambiguity were detected. The Teaching field contained the most instances (54.17%), and Chapter II was the most vulnerable structural component (58.33%). These findings extend Harjono’s (2011) work on relevance fallacies and provide an empirical basis for targeted pedagogical interventions to improve students’ logical reasoning, particularly in distinguishing correlation from causation and avoiding circular reasoning.
