Abstract

Tanggapan siswa terhadap mata pelajaran kimia hingga kini belum mengalami perubahan yang signifikan. Kimia sebagai mata Pelajaran sulit dan bukan pilihan utama dalam memasuki perguruan tinggi masih mendominasi siswa sekolah menengah atas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengubah pandangan siswa bahwa kimia menarik dan relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Berbeda dengan kegiatan pengabdian yang selama ini berbentuk sosialisasi, kami tim mengemas kegiatan pengabdian dalam bentuk perlombaan. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 7 sekolah se-Pulau Lombok dengan jumlah total tim sebanyak 11 tim. Perlombaan sebagai bagian dari pengabdian terdiri dari 3 topik yaitu koloid, stoikiometri asam basa dan titrasi asam basa. Aspek keterampilan yang dinilai meliputi meliputi cara menyiapkan buret untuk titrasi; cara melakukan titrasi; cara mengakhiri titrasi; cara membuat koloid dan cara menentukan bahan untuk titrasi. Aspek afektif meliputi kerjasama, ketelitian dan kebersihan. Hasil perlombaan memenangkan dua kelompok siswa dari SMA Negeri yang sama di kota mataram dan satu kelompok madrasah di kota mataram mendapatkan juara 3. Informasi dari beberapa peserta menunjukkan bahwa kimia adalah mata Pelajaran yang menarik dan penuh tantangan sehingga melalui kegiatan di laboratorium kimia lebih menarik untuk dipelajari.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fakta di lapangan bahwa minat siswa sekolah menengah untuk mengambil jurusan sains dan teknologi semakin menurun setiap tahunnya. Mengatasi permasalahan di atas perlu dilakukan sosialisasi terkait dengan peran kimia dan prospeknya di masa depan. Sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada siswa sekolah menengah atas yang akan memilih jurusan di tingkat perguruan tinggi. Jumlah SMA dan MA Negeri yang menjadi sasaran kegiatan pengabdian adalah sebanyak 11 sekolah yaitu SMAN 1 Mataram, SMAN 2 Mataram, SMAN 3 Mataram, SMAN 4 Mataram, SMAN 5 Mataram, SMAN 6 Mataram, SMAN 11 Mataram, MAN 2 Mataram, MAN 3 Mataram, SMAN 1 Sekotong, dan SMA IT Anak Sholeh Mataram. Total peserta dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian ini direncanakan satu sekolah diwakili oleh 3 orang siswa dan 1 orang guru dengan total peserta direncanakan sebanyak 33 siswa dan 11 guru bidang studi. Hasil kegiatan ini memberikan respon yang positif dari siswa melalui pertanyaan dan diskusi yang menarik. Tanggapan siswa menunjukkan bahwa sesi ketiga yang menjelaskan prospek pendidikan kimia di masa depan terutama untuk generasi Z menjadi sesi yang paling menarik.

Abstract

Kompetensi guru kimia dalam memberdayakan laboratorium untuk  pembelajaran praktikum dapat berdampak langsung pada siswa dalam memperoleh  pengalaman langsung untuk mengamati  perubahan yang terjadi dalam proses kimia. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah memberikan pelatihan  tentang strategi mengembangkan  ketrampilan dasar laboratorium peserta didik  untuk memberdayakan laboratorium secara maksimal. Sasaran kegiatan adalah guru guru kimia yang bergabung dalam MGMP Kimia Lombok Timur. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian adalah ceramah, diskusi dan demonstrasi,  melalui gambar atau vidio yang terkait dengan ketrampilan dasar laboratorium. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah: 1) Kegiatan berjalan lancar dan sangat memotivasi peserta. 2) Strategi pengembangan ketrampilan dasar laboratorium dapat dilakukan dengan  menggunakan strategi / metode pembelajaran yang dapat memberikan latihan langsung dan berulang pada siswa seperti demonstrasi atau eksperimen. 3) Adanya peningkatan pemahaman tentang strategi pengembangan ketrampilan dasar laboratorium pada peserta kegiatan dari katagori kurang menjadi katagori sangat baik.

Abstract

As the core of science learning, laboratory work is inseparable from learning chemistry, including biochemistry. However, the implementation of laboratory work needs reconstruction, especially in higher education, so an initial study is needed to understand the problems in laboratory work at universities. This article was a study of the working conditions of the biochemistry laboratory at the University of Mataram. This study included quantitative research with students (N = 250), lab work assistants (N = 36), laboratorium staff (N = 4), and biochemistry lecturers (N = 4) as respondents. Techniques for obtaining data through participatory observation and questionnaires. Supporting data were obtained through interviews with students, lecturers, laboratory assistants, and laboratory personnel representatives. The results showed that the implementation of biochemistry lab work at the University in Mataram had gone through the pre-laboratory, laboratory work, and post-laboratory stages. Expository, inquiry, and demonstration are lab work methods, with 80% of the implementation using the expository method. Instructions related to waste handling have not been carried out in the implementation of biochemistry lab work. Based on these findings, several recommendations were put forward for improving the biochemistry lab work at the University.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyse research trends in the development of LKPD project-based learning integrated with green chemistry approach in chemistry learning. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive analytical method that explains the data obtained in detail and systematically with research procedures using PRISMA. The data used in this study were obtained from Google Scholar indexed documents from 2015-2023 using Publish or Perish and Dimension.ai. The type of data identified and analysed in the form of publications, publication sources, research titles, and keywords related to the development of LKPD project-based learning integrated green chemistry approach that is widely cited. The data analysis method used is bibliometric analysis assisted by VOS viewer software. The results of the analysis show that the trend of research on the development of project-based learning frameworks integrated with the green chemistry approach indexed by Google Scholar from 2015 to 2023 has increased dramatically from the previous year. There are many documents in the form of articles, proceedings, and books that discuss research on the development of LKPD project-based learning integrated green chemistry approach. The keywords that are often used in research on this subject are society, environment, technology, project models, development, science, education, etc.

Abstract

Chemical literacy is an essential competency for preservice chemistry teachers because it supports the ability to understand chemical concepts, interpret chemical information, and apply chemistry in daily and socio-scientific contexts. However, chemical literacy assessment is often limited to conventional multiple-choice tests that do not adequately measure reasoning or contextual application. This study aimed to validate ethnochemistry-integrated two-tier multiple-choice with 10 items test for measuring chemical literacy among preservice chemistry teachers. A quantitative survey design was employed with 35 participants from a public university in West Nusa Tenggara selected through convenience sampling. This approach allowed the researchers to obtain initial empirical evidence on the psychometric quality of the ethnochemistry-integrated two-tier instrument for measuring chemical literacy among pre-service chemistry teachers. The instrument was developed by adapting chemical literacy indicators and integrating local ethnochemical contexts into two-tier items, followed by expert judgment validation. Data were collected through face-to-face, paper-based administration and analyzed using the Rasch measurement model to examine item difficulty calibration, item fit statistics, reliability, separation indices, and unidim The Wright map shows that most pre-service chemistry teachers were clustered around the mean ability range (−1 to +1 logits), indicating moderate chemical literacy, while the items were well distributed in difficulty with more challenging tasks such as Item 8 and Item 4 located at higher logits. Rasch analysis further confirmed acceptable measurement quality, with person reliability of 0.71 and Cronbach’s alpha of 0.74, item fit statistics mostly within the acceptable range (Infit MNSQ 0.78–1.43), and strong unidimensionality evidenced by 40.9% variance explained by the measures.ensionality through residual analysis. This study is novel in validating an ethnochemistry-integrated two-tier multiple-choice instrument using Rasch analysis to provide a culturally responsive and reasoning-based assessment of chemical literacy among pre-service chemistry teachers by connecting chemical concepts with local wisdom and real-life contexts.

Abstract

Bantiran Village, located in Pupuan District, Tabanan Regency, possesses significant agricultural and plantation potential, particularly in horticultural commodities such as durian, mangosteen, and cocoa. However, the high level of production also generates a considerable quantity of substandard fruits that do not meet market visual standards. This condition contributes to increased food loss at both the farmer and community levels. This Economy Social Activity (ESA) program aimed to utilize substandard fruits through product innovation by processing them into ice cream based on local resources. The methods employed included field observation, socialization, ice cream-making training, and evaluation. The activity was conducted on April 25, 2026, involving the local community of Bantiran Village, particularly members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group and farmer groups. The results demonstrated an improvement in community understanding of the concept of substandard fruits, their processing potential, and practical skills in producing ice cream made from substandard cocoa fruits. The resulting product exhibited favorable taste, aroma, and texture characteristics and showed potential for commercialization as an additional source of income. This activity indicates that local resource-based product innovation can serve as an effective strategy to reduce food loss while enhancing the economic value of rural communities.

Abstract

Tannase is industrially important enzyme used in the production of gallic acid. Gallic acid possesses wide range of biological activities such as`antioxidant, antibacterial, and antivirus. This work aims to produce gallic acid from local fruit rind in Lombok enzimatically. The tested rind local fruit were juwet (Syzygium cumini), kepundung (Baccaurea racemosa Muell.Arg) and mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana). The result showed that tannase activity of 57.827 U/mg. Gallic acid concentration has increased with increase in amount of tannase and reaction time. Optimal gallic acid concentration was obtained at 1 % (v/v) tannase and 60 minutes of reaction time for kepundung rind. However, juwet and mangosteen rind produced optimal gallic acid at 1.2 % (v/v) tannase with the same of reaction time.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mempelajari tentang produksi asam galat menggunakan enzim tanase dari limbah kulit buah lokal di Lombok. Limbah kulit buah lokal yang digunakan yaitu kulit buah kepundung (Baccaurea racemosa Muell.Arg), kulit buah juwet (Syzygium cumini), dan kulit buah manggis (Garcinia mangostana). Pada penelitian ini dilakukan pengujian asam galat yang dihasilkan, untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dan antibakteri. Pengujian sifat antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH, sedangkan aktivitas antibakteri diuji dengan menggunakan metode difusi agar pada bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asam galat dari ketiga kulit buah memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Asam galat dari kulit buah kepundung, kulit buah juwet dan kulit buah manggis memiliki IC50 masing-masing sebesar 5.95; 5,96; dan 5,92 ppm. Berbeda dengan kemampuan sebagai antioksidan, asam galat resistan terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus yang menunjukkan bahwa asam galat tidak memiliki aktivitas sebagai antibakteri.Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activity of Gallic Acid Extracted from Local Fruit Peels Produced by Tannase. This research studied the gallic acid production using tannase enzym from fruit local peels in Lombok. The local fruit waste used are kepundung rind (Baccaurea racemosa Muell.Arg), juwet rind (Syzygium cumini) and mangosteen rind (Garcinia mangostana). The produced Gallic acid was tested to determine its antioxidant and antibacterial activity. The antioxidant test conducted by DPPH method, meanwhile, the antibacterial activity was performed by agar diffusion method against bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed that the produce gallic acid from those three rind provide antioxidant activity. Gallic acid from kepundung rind, juwet rind, and mangosteen rind have IC50 values of 5,95; 5,96; and 5,92, respectively. Gallic acid does not showed inhibitory actions against the growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This result showed that gallic acid from local fruit waste provided no an antibacterial activity.
