Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT) at Al-Amin Mosque, Deli Serdang, on the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Using a mixed-method approach through quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews, this study examines changes in indicators of turnover, business assets, workforce, and profitability of MSMEs before and after receiving financing from BMT. Average turnover increased by 60%, business assets increased, and 40% of respondents were able to employ additional workers. In addition, business profitability also increased significantly. However, this study also found several obstacles, such as low financial management capabilities and limited market access. This study concludes that BMTs play a strategic role in empowering the local economy through sharia-based microfinance services. The results of this study provide recommendations for the development of similar MFIs to support MSME growth more effectively and inclusively.

This study aims to explore the concept of Islamic economics during the time of the Prophet Muhammad SAW by examining aspects of biography, prophetic leadership, and the main principles of economics applied in the Medina community. Using a qualitative study method based on literature analysis from 30 recent scientific journals, the results of the study show that the Prophet Muhammad was not only a bearer of religious messages, but also a visionary leader who implemented an economic system that was just, based on ethics, and focused on the welfare of the people. This study also evaluates the short-term and long-term impacts of the implementation of this economic thought on the lives of Muslims and on the development of Islamic economic theory in subsequent periods.

Abstract

This study discusses contemporary Islamic economic thought with a focus on the contributions of Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr, Ibrahim Umar Vadillo, and M. Umer Chapra. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method through a library study of various literature and documents related to Islamic economics. The results of the study indicate that al-Sadr emphasizes social justice and the role of the state in the distribution of wealth, Vadillo offers a dinar and dirham-based monetary system for economic stability, and Chapra emphasizes social welfare through zakat, prohibition of usury, and strengthening of Islamic financial institutions. All three agree that Islamic economics must integrate moral values, ethics, and sharia principles in resource management and wealth distribution. Thus, contemporary Islamic economics offers practical and relevant solutions to the challenges of the modern economy by emphasizing aspects of justice, welfare, and sustainability.
