Abstract

Problem solving is an important element in solving real life problems. When students are solving mathematical problems, students are faced with several challenges such as difficulty in understanding the problem because of problems that students have faced before. From the results of the teaching and learning activities that have been carried out, it can be concluded that the questions given to 36 students show that students' problem solving abilities are still low. The average obtained was 63.75 and classical completeness was 67%. Based on the results of the PISA survey in 2018, Indonesia was ranked 64th out of 65 countries that took part in the test. The aim of this research is to determine the increase in problem solving abilities using a metacognitive approach. This research uses a meta-analysis method by reviewing several articles in national and international journals. This meta-analysis is quantitative because it uses numerical calculations and statistics. This meta-analysis research uses 12 samples of relevant journals in national journals. Based on the results of the meta-analysis, it can be concluded that the articles that have been analyzed have an effect size value in the very high category of 17% of all articles, an effect size in the negligible category of 17%, an effect size in the high category of 17% of all articles. . The effect size in the medium category is 17% of the entire article. The effect size in the low category is 25% of the entire article. Based on the calculation results, the t_count value was 9.63 and the t_table value was 1.96; Thus the conclusion is obtained t_count=9.63>t_tabel=1.96. So H_0 is rejected. So, the average problem solving ability of experimental group students is more than the average of control group students.

Abstract

Have good mathematical literacy is important to develop because it plays an important role in solving various problems in everyday life. Meanwhile, the mathematical literacy of male and female students is different. This study aims to see and describe how mathematical literacy differences in male and female students at the junior high school level. The method used in research is meta-synthesis which is carried out by analyzing qualitative data derived from various similar studies. As a result, male students have a tendency to have better mathematical literacy than female students. Of the seven indicators of mathematical literacy, male students are able to master four to seven indicators. Meanwhile, female students can only meet three to seven indicators. Male and female students have equally fulfilled communication, mathematization, and representation skills. Both also need to improve their ability to determine problem-solving strategies and provide logical reasoning and reasoning. Furthermore, the authors suggest that similar research be carried out with a longer time span and a wider range of research areas. Furthermore, it can also conduct research on high school students so that they can be compared so that it can be understood whether there are significant differences in mathematical literacy skills at both school levels. Thus, the results obtained can be represented to be used as a basis for making decisions such as the development of more inclusive and effective learning strategies in the educational environment.

Abstract

This research aims to develop patterns of students' mathematical literacy processes based on the Cognitive Load Theory (MLCLT). Research using Design-Based Research (DBR) aims to design and develop learning components in the form of resulting learning patterns arranged in 4 stages. The research results show that a CLT-based mathematical literacy process domain pattern has been found. For the aspect of formulating situations mathematically, the pattern of mathematization was produced, and it resulted in some students having good communication skills. For the element of employing mathematical concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning, the pattern of application was produced, and it showed an increase in students' literacy processes for indicators such as mathematizing, representation, reasoning, argument, devising strategies for solving problems, using symbolic, formal, and technical language and operations, as well as using mathematical tools. The pattern for the aspect of interpreting, applying, and evaluating mathematical outcomes is the reflection pattern. In this pattern, students are already accustomed to having indicators of mathematical literacy processes related to devising strategies for solving problems, using symbolic, formal, and technical language and operations, as well as using mathematical tools so that they can produce real solutions to real-world problems.

Abstract
