Abstract

Taufiqul Mubarok, an orphanage in North Jakarta, is home to numerous orphans who attend school ranging from Kindergarten to Senior High School. These children, who are the primary residents of the orphanage, face significant educational challenges, particularly in English, due to limited access to quality education exacerbated by the high poverty levels in the area. In response, the Faculty of Education at Universitas Pelita Harapan (FIP UPH) and the Sunda Kelapa Sectoral Police (Polsek) initiated an English Learning Program to foster inclusive language education. The program aimed to provide these children with opportunities for educational advancement and, ultimately, a better quality of life than their parents. The English Learning Program, conducted from March to June 2024, adopted a holistic approach to support the comprehensive development of the orphanage residents. The program's methodology encompassed problem identification, preparation, implementation utilizing various teaching methods, appreciation, and evaluation. A competition was held at the program's conclusion to assess the participants' progress. The results demonstrated significant improvements in the children's English skills, highlighting the program's success.

Abstract

Pre-service teachers learn a lot about educational practice, especially regarding formative assessment, through noticing. For this reason, pre-service teachers’ noticing ability determines the learning process regarding formative assessment. Thus, understanding and analyzing pre-service teachers’ noticing skills is very important. This research is a descriptive qualitative research which aims to analyze the observations of pre-service teachers regarding formative assessment using a video. Data collection was carried out using video task analysis regarding formative assessment. This study involved 69 pre-service elementary teachers. The results of the task analysis were coded with the theoretical coding method. The results of the coding were then analyzed descriptively. The focus of noticing for pre-service elementary teachers is the greatest (71%) on the questioning loop aspect, while other aspects are less than 50% of the participants. No one  pre-service elementary teachers observes the five aspects of formative assessment. For the quality of noticing an average of 2.25-2.85 or between the descriptive level and validation.The characteristics of the focus of pre-service elementary teachers’ noticing regarding formative assessment tend to focus on the questioning aspect and are not comprehensive. Most of the noticing quality of pre-service elementary teachers regarding formative assessment is still at the descriptive and validation level.

Abstract

Fakultas Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Pelita Harapan bersama Polsek Sunda Kelapa, Resor Jakarta Utara melakukan Program Pengabdian Masyarakat kepada anak-anak Pondok Pesantren Nurul Bahri Jakarta Utara dengan melakukan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pengajaran ini sangat bermanfaat baik dalam bidang akademis maupun non-akademis karena Bahasa Inggris merupakan bahasa pengantar komunikasi internasional sehingga dapat menumbuhkan daya saing siswa di era perkembangan yang begitu cepat. Pembelajaran yang dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan holistik dan kolaboratif, yaitu anak-anak dapat belajar bahasa lebih komprehensif, kontekstual, dan praktikal serta memunculkan relasi yang baik kepada sesama secara efektif. Program ini dilakukan kepada 30 siswa SD-SMA sebanyak 8 kali pertemuan selama bulan September-November 2022 di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Bahri. Program ini didampingi oleh 10 tutor dari mahasiswa Universitas Pelita Harapan bersama dosen sebagai pengarah. Dalam proses pembelajaran, para tutor menggunakan media pembelajaran yang beragam untuk membantu siswa lebih mudah memahami materi, melakukan asesmen melalui beragam cara misalnya observasi, tes/Quiz, dan penilaian melalui presentasi dan memberikan umpan balik. Program ini juga dapat berjalan dengan baik berkat sosialisasi yang dilakukan oleh SatBinMas Polsek Sunda Kelapa terkait kegiatan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris gratis. Dengan berhasilnya kegiatan yang dilaksanakan di Pesantren Nurul Bahri, kerjasama ini dilanjutkan di tempat yang berbeda agar anak-anak memiliki kemampuan Bahasa Inggris yang semakin baik yang dapat memperlengkapi mereka untuk masa depan yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Discipline is manifested in the student's compliance with the applicable class rules procedures in the classroom. The authors found problems related to the discipline of elementary school students. The discipline of grade 3 elementary school students does not show any indicators of discipline such as not following the rules procedures applicable in online learning. The purpose of writing this research is to review and describe the teacher's accuracy in instilling the discipline of elementary school students through online learning. The author uses research method with descriptive qualitative. Self-control of teachers is also an example that students certainly imitate. Based on the results of analysis and the findings of previous research, researchers concluded that the picture of discipline in grade 3 elementary school should be shown by compliance, obedience, self-control of the rules and procedures applicable in online learning. Discipline aims to bring students to maturity and change. The author recommends that elementary school teachers apply strictness to improve the discipline of elementary school students owned by students. Although the accuracy provided online learning can have a positive impact on student discipline in online learning. Students are expected to get used to discipline and exemplify teachers in terms of discipline.

Abstract

One problem that often arises in the learning process is that students' attention is quite minimal during the learning process. This thing cannot be separated from the characteristic of kindergarten students, that is they have a short attention span. This, of course, can make the learning process ineffective. It is important to use the teacher's creativity to make the students pay attention during the learning process. Teachers can take advantage of the current industrial revolution 4.0 by using the technologies around them, such as the use of videos to attract students' attention so that the learning process becomes effective. This paper aims to see the effectiveness of the use of video to attract students' attention. Education is a learning process that occurs throughout life. Student’s attention is needed for the material taught by the teacher during the learning process. It will make the students able to understand the material being taught. The use of video is very effective in attracting the students’ attention. It is necessary for the teacher to know the characteristics of the students and to follow the development of technology to be able to provide the teaching media that suits the students' needs.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) brings great potential to the education world holistically, not only changing the way of teaching and learning but also impacting the education system. However, the use of AI in learning is still relatively new and initiatives to introduce AI in schools have not been widely implemented in Indonesia. In fact, it is crucial for teachers to become proficient in using this technology to maximize its benefits for both teachers and students in preparing for future challenges. The purpose of this study is to explore teachers' perceptions toward the use of AI-based virtual assistants in supporting tasks at school and to examine and analyze the teachers’ level of readiness and schools in facing the era of artificial intelligence. This descriptive study was conducted using a hybrid approach, namely a combination of both quantitative and qualitative. Initial data collection involved distributing a Likert-scale questionnaire to 30 teacher respondents from a senior high school that employs national standard curriculum combined with international assessments to value teachers' perceptions of AI use. Subsequently, in-depth interviews were conducted with three participants, including administrators and professional. Data analysis of the questionnaire demonstrated the validity and reliability of the perception instrument used. Furthermore, the interview results clarified the preparations that have been made, will be made, and have not yet been addressed by schools in maximizing the use of AI. This study concludes with recommendations that align with the needs of teachers to acquire these essential skills which can be supported by schools.

Abstract

One of the most important elements to build in a university is the lecturer. This research aims to find out the students perception in the implementation of course design in the classroom, lecturer performance and given assignments in response to high standard of teaching and learning in the higher education. This research used a survey research. The researcher decides to take Primary Study Program Department as a representative of population in University XYZ. Reliability and validity instrument been analyzed by looking at the item analysis, internal reliability (cronbach alpha), and descriptive statistics. The researcher found the strength in the consistency of learning material with learning contract, new insight of teaching, the use of language that the lecturer used, on time given feedback distribution, material review, the source of theory has been attached in the power point slide, time discipline, well done group work, the compatibility between the assignment and learning contract, given test that enrich students critical thinking and direct observation has given positive contribution towards the theory.

Abstract

Pendidikan nilai dan sikap yang sekarang lebih dikenal dengan istilah pendidikan karakter merupakan upaya untuk membantu perkembangan siswa dari sifat kodratitnya menuju ke arah peradaban yang manusiawi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana implementasi nilai- nilai Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan pada karakter Siswa  SDN 28 Banda Aceh,Metode penelitian kualitatif. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa dan guru SDN 28 Banda Aceh dengan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data yaitu wawancara mendalam, observasi dan dokumentasi. Adapun teknik analisis data yan digunakan yaitu Interaktif Model analisis data kualitatif yakni prosesnya dilakukan dengan data reduction, data display dan verification. Hasil penelitian menunjukkarn bahwa selama ini SDN 28 Banda Aceh dalam proses pembelajaran Pancasida  melalui kegiatan  dalam kelas memasukkan nilai-nilai karakter setiap mata pelajaran  sesuai yang direncanakan dengan menggunakan pendekatan discovery Learning atau inquiry, menanamkan nilai- nilai pancasila pada kegiatan pembelajaran dikelas melalui diskusi kelompok, menanamkan nilai karakter dalam kegiatan pembiasaan (apel pagi, jabat tangan, pemberian salam, jamaah sholat wajib, shalat sunat, tadarrus pagi, salam pagi dan shalat jamaah,cara komunikasi, penanaman karakter dalam kegiatan peringatan hari-besar, memberikan penilaian pendidikan karakter melalui penilaian sikap dan perilaku siswa.Kata Kunci : Nilai, Pancasila, Karakter, Perilaku.

Abstract

This paper proposes a benchmarking mechanism to evaluate and enhance teacher support systems in AI and digital STEM-integrated curricula in Cambodia. It addresses the critical need for educators to incorporate AI effectively, using a mixed-research approach that combines qualitative text analysis with quantitative clustering techniques. Employing a mixed-methods approach, textual data from Cambodian teachers were collected via surveys and interviews, preprocessed (tokenization, stop-word removal, stemming), and analyzed using TF-IDF vectorization and K-means clustering. These themes form the framework's dimensions, measured by contextually relevant metrics, aiming to foster a supportive environment for teachers. Recommendations include partnerships, flexible learning pathways, and pilot programs, contributing to global best practices while addressing local educational challenges. The resulting framework dimensions (training, infrastructure, and policy integration) are measured by context-specific metrics. Findings underscore the necessity of tailored training, equitable resource allocation, and collaborative learning communities in empowering teachers to effectively integrate AI and digital technologies into STEM education. Recommendations include partnerships with tech firms, flexible learning pathways, and iterative policy adjustments based on teacher feedback.

Abstract

Literasi merujuk kemampuan untuk memahami, mengolah serta tidak hanya sebatas pada kemampuan dalam membaca dan menulis namun literasi juga mencakup kemampuan untuk berpikir kritis, menganalisis, dan berkarya melalui berbagai sumber daya, baik dalam bentuk teks, data, maupun media lainnya, untuk dapat memecahkan masalah maupun membuat suatu keputusan. Di Indonesia, pendidikan merupakan sektor penting untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi dan numerasi siswa-siswa, namun pendidikan di Indonesia masih sangat jauh dari kata baik. Banyak sekali tantangan-tantangan yang masih dihadapi oleh pendidikan Indonesia, yaitu kurangnya tenaga pengajar profesional, tidak meratanya fasilitas yang diperlukan, biaya pendidikan yang mahal, dan juga undang-undang pendidikan yang masih sering berganti dan tidak stabil. Dampak dari kurang meratanya pendidikan sering kali dirasakan oleh siswa-siswa yang tinggal di pedesaan, termasuk pada daerah Desa Ranca Buaya. Oleh sebab itu untuk menghadapi permasalahan ini diperlukan adanya bantuan pengajaran yang membantu siswa-siswa untuk mendapatkan pembelajaran yang berguna bagi mereka sekaligus meningkatkan motivasi belajar mereka. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui teknik gabungan yaitu wawancara, observasi, studi pustaka, dan dokumentasi. Melalui hasil penelitian dapat ditunjukkan bahwa anak-anak di desa Ranca Buaya memiliki minat dalam belajar namun minat belajar tersebut tidak bertahan lama, dan kurangnya akses pada kebutuhan pendidikan yang memadai.
