Abstract

The phenomenon of weakening faith and declining Islamic character among the younger generation of Muslims in the era of globalization and digitalization indicates that the process of internalizing faith values in education has not been optimal. This condition demands a renewal in faith learning that is not solely oriented towards knowledge but also emphasizes role models as a means of developing students' spirituality and morals. This study aims to explain the values of faith education and Islamic character development through the application of the exemplary method within the concept of Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’ as explained in the book Tarbiyatul Aṭfāl by Sheikh Ra’fat Farīz Shalabī. The model used is the exemplary method (uswah hasanah), as this method is considered the most effective in instilling faith values through concrete examples in the behavior, speech, and attitudes of educators that align with Islamic teachings. In the context of Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’, this method encompasses two important aspects: fostering loyalty to Allah, the Prophet, and the Muslims (Al-Walā’), and instilling an attitude of avoiding values that conflict with Islam (Al-Barā’). This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach through a literature review, analyzing classical and contemporary Islamic educational texts and literature. The results show that the exemplary method based on the concept of Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’ can strengthen understanding of the creed, foster commitment to faith, and shape a resilient Islamic character amidst the moral challenges of the modern era. Keywords: Creed Education, Islamic Character, Exemplary Method, Al-Walā’ wa Al-Barā’, Tarbiyatul Aṭfāl.

Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the implementation of Good University Governance and its contribution to improving the quality of higher education. The research employs a Systematic Literature Review method with data sourced from journal articles published in the last five years. Data collection techniques include literature selection, extraction, and synthesis, while data analysis is carried out using thematic analysis and concept mapping. The synthesis results show that the implementation of GUG has a positive impact on improving accreditation, managerial performance, the quality of academic services, and stakeholder trust when supported by Internal Quality Assurance mechanisms, periodic audits, and the use of digital governance to strengthen information transparency and data-driven decision-making. Nevertheless, many institutions still face implementation challenges such as bureaucratic organizational culture, limited human resource capacity, weak institutional independence, and dependence on government regulations that frequently change. This SLR also confirms that the most effective implementation model is a hybrid model that integrates IQA, shared governance, and digital information systems holistically.

Abstract

The social phenomenon within contemporary Muslim communities indicates that many families still neglect children’s fundamental rights, including education, financial support, and emotional care. This condition reflects a gap between the ideal values of Islamic teachings and their practical implementation in family life. This study aims to critically examine the interrelation between zakat fitrah (alms of purification), lineage (nasab), and the fulfillment of children’s rights from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education. Employing a qualitative approach with a library research design, this study applies content analysis to primary sources such as the Qur’an, Hadith, classical works of tafsir and fiqh, as well as secondary data from academic books, journals, and previous studies. The findings reveal that zakat fitrah possesses profound spiritual and social dimensions. It functions not only as an act of ritual purification but also as an instrument of social education that cultivates justice, empathy, and collective responsibility. Meanwhile, the concept of nasab serves as a moral and educational foundation within the family, emphasizing parental responsibility to fulfill children’s rights to love, protection, and moral guidance. The lack of understanding of these two concepts has weakened the family’s role as a moral and spiritual educational institution. Therefore, integrating the values of zakat fitrah and nasab into Islamic Religious Education is essential for developing a family-based educational paradigm grounded in raḥmah (compassion), ‘adl (justice), and amānah (responsibility).

Abstract

This article examines the fiqh-based interpretation of children’s rights after death and its implications for Islamic Religious Education. In Islamic jurisprudence, children who pass away retain certain rights that must be fulfilled by parents and the community, including ritual care such as bathing, shrouding, funeral prayer, burial, and the right to prayers and protection of dignity. However, in educational and social practices, the understanding of children’s posthumous rights is often limited to ritual aspects without exploring their educational values. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research by analyzing classical and contemporary fiqh sources as well as relevant literature on Islamic Religious Education. The findings reveal that the fiqh interpretation of children’s rights after death encompasses not only ritual obligations but also theological, moral, and pedagogical values that are essential to be integrated into Islamic education. The implications suggest that Islamic Religious Education should incorporate these fiqh concepts to cultivate empathy, responsibility, respect for human dignity, and awareness of the afterlife among learners. This study contributes to the enrichment of Islamic Religious Education by offering a value-based and character-oriented educational perspective.

Abstract

This study reconstructs the concept of children’s post-birth rights from an Islamic perspective by positioning spiritual, educational, and humanitarian values as the foundational principles of early child upbringing. Departing from contemporary approaches that tend to emphasize legal and physical aspects while marginalizing spiritual dimensions, this research re-examines Islamic teachings through the classical text Tarbiyatul Athfāl. A qualitative library-based approach is employed, using thematic analysis within the framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. The findings demonstrate that children’s rights in Islam extend beyond physical care and legal recognition to encompass the cultivation of spiritual consciousness, moral character, and human dignity from birth. Spiritual values are embedded in practices such as the recitation of the adhan, tahnik, giving meaningful names, and performing aqiqah, which function as early internalization of monotheism and Islamic identity. Educational values are reflected in parenting based on role modeling, affection, and continuous moral habituation. Meanwhile, humanitarian values emphasize protection, welfare, and respect for children as dignified human beings. This reconstruction affirms that Islamic teachings provide a holistic and integrative framework for safeguarding children’s post-birth rights and remain highly relevant in addressing contemporary challenges in child education and upbringing.

Abstract

In Indonesian secondary schools, low student participation and constrained classroom interaction remain persistent impediments to English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning outcomes. This study examined the association between student voice—defined as students' perceived opportunities to express opinions, contribute to classroom decisions, and receive teacher responsiveness—and English achievement among ninth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjungsari, South Lampung, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was employed, with student voice operationalized through a nine-item, 4-point Likert-type questionnaire (Cronbach's α = .853) and English achievement measured via school-recorded semester final scores. Assumptions for Pearson's r were satisfied: both variables approximated normality (Shapiro–Wilk: p > .10), a linear relationship was indicated, and no extreme outliers were detected. The analysis revealed a small, statistically non-significant association between student voice and English achievement, r(18) = .172, p = .469, 95% CI [−.30, .58], r² ≈ .03. Although the correlation did not attain significance, the findings suggest that student voice may exert an indirect influence on English achievement through motivational and affective pathways—including self-efficacy, confidence, and engagement—rather than operating as a direct predictor of test performance. The study contributes empirical evidence from an under-researched Indonesian EFL context, affirming the need to integrate student-voice practices with responsive instructional strategies and to examine indirect effects via mediation models in future research.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for teaching aqeedah to children in Islamic schools by emphasizing the Nabawiyyah model as a pedagogical foundation for faith and spiritual formation. The main question addressed concerns how a prophetic-based approach can be integrated into aqeedah learning to move beyond cognitive domains toward affective and practical dimensions. Conceptually, this study positions itself as a framework proposing an aqeedah learning approach rooted in the Prophet’s exemplary model (uswah hasanah). The research employed a critical literature review of classical Islamic education sources, contemporary studies, and Islamic curriculum documents. Content analysis was applied to identify strategic elements of prophetic learning, including role modeling, value internalization, and habituation aligned with children’s psychological development. The findings reveal that Nabawiyyah-based strategies effectively strengthen students’ faith and morality through modeling, prophetic narratives, and religious habituation. The study concludes that this approach provides a holistic conceptual framework for aqeedah education in madrasahs and offers a pedagogical response to the moral crisis of the digital era.

Abstract

The threat of the global climate crisis is multidimensional and endangers the survival of humanity as well as the planet’s ecosystems. In the Islamic perspective, humans are positioned as khalifah (vicegerents) who bear moral and spiritual responsibility to preserve the balance of nature. This study aims to examine the concept of the khalifah’s responsibility within the framework of Islamic ecotheology and its relevance to the climate crisis. Using a library research method with a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach, this study analyzes classical Qur’anic exegesis literature, ecotheological thought, and contemporary environmental studies. The findings indicate that current environmental degradation contradicts the principles of tawhid (divine unity), amanah (trust), and mizan (balance). Islamic ecotheology offers a theocentric paradigm that integrates environmental preservation as both an act of worship and a moral obligation. Therefore, this study concludes that revitalizing ecological awareness grounded in Islamic values is an imperative step in responding to the climate crisis in an ethical and spiritual manner.
