Abstract

Breast milk (ASI) not only serves as a source of nutrition for infants but also functions as a means of building emotional bonds and instilling moral values from an early age. In the Islamic perspective, breastfeeding receives special attention as reflected in the sources of Sharia and socio-religious practices. This article aims to analyze the ethics of motherhood in Islam concerning the fulfillment of children’s rights to breast milk and its implications for Islamic character education. The research method employs library research and normative analysis of religious literature, health policies, and recent empirical studies. The findings indicate that Islamic traditions and laws encourage the fulfillment of children's rights to receive exclusive and continued breastfeeding; however, its implementation is often influenced by social, cultural, and healthcare system factors. The concept of maternal ethics in Islam, which emphasizes compassion, responsibility, and exemplary behavior, can be integrated into character education curricula to promote broader breastfeeding practices. Recommendations include strengthening family education based on Islamic values, implementing breastfeeding-friendly school policies, and developing integrated counseling programs involving religious leaders and health practitioners.

Abstract

Abstract

This research critically examines Imam Al-Ghazali’s concept of faith (ʿaqīdah) formation in early childhood and its relevance within modern Islamic education. Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through a critical literature review, this study explores Al-Ghazali’s seminal works—Ihya’ ‘Ulum al-Din and Ayyuha al-Walad—and compares them with contemporary Islamic educational theories. The analysis indicates that Al-Ghazali emphasized moral exemplarity, consistent worship practice, spiritual self-awareness (muraqabah), and purification of the soul (tazkiyah al-nafs) as foundational pillars of a child’s faith formation. These principles remain highly applicable to modern Islamic education when integrated with contextual, experiential, and character-based pedagogies. The synthesis of Al-Ghazali’s classical thought with current educational innovations presents a sustainable framework for cultivating faith-based character among young learners in the digital era.

Abstract

This article reconstructs the concept and practice of fulfillment of children's rights is a fundamental issue in social and educational development, encompassing not only legal and social aspects but also spiritual dimensions. From the perspective of Islamic Sharia, children are considered divine trusts endowed with inherent rights to life, growth, education, and protection from all forms of violence and injustice. However, the practical implementation of these rights within contemporary Islamic educational institutions still faces structural and cultural challenges. This study critically analyzes the reconstruction of children’s rights within Islamic law and their implementation in modern Islamic education. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, the study synthesizes findings from 16 academic articles published between 2015 and 2025 in databases such as SINTA, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. The results indicate that (1) Islamic principles of child protection are rooted in the objectives of Sharia (maq??id al-syar?‘ah), particularly ?if? al-nafs, ?if? al-‘aql, and ?if? al-nasl; (2) a significant gap persists between normative Islamic values and actual implementation in educational institutions; and (3) reconstructing child rights fulfillment requires integrating values of compassion (rahmah) and maq??id-based frameworks into curricula, teacher training, and institutional policies. This study underscores the urgency of developing a child-friendly, justice-oriented Islamic education system grounded in holistic protection of children’s rights.

Abstract

The implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic education has become a crucial issue for improving service quality, learning, and institutional governance amid the challenges of globalization and the digital era. This study aims to explore the implementation of TQM in Islamic educational institutions and identify the barriers and their contribution to improving educational quality. The research method is a descriptive, qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis across several Islamic schools and madrasas that have implemented TQM. The results show that although TQM has excellent potential to improve educational quality, its implementation is still hampered by a hierarchical organizational culture, a mismatch between modern managerial principles and Islamic educational culture, and limited infrastructure and human resources. This study concludes that to increase the effectiveness of TQM in Islamic education, there needs to be a more contextual and adaptive adjustment to the management model, as well as the strengthening of the integration of Islamic values across all managerial aspects. The contribution of this research is the development of a TQM model grounded more in Islamic moral and spiritual values.

Abstract

This study explores tahnik and aqiqah as expressions of fulfilling children's rights within the framework of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and Islamic education. Both are classified as sunnah muakkadah practices that hold not only ritual significance but also deep spiritual, social, and pedagogical values. The aim is to analyze how these practices function as early educational media to instill monotheism, compassion, and moral responsibility from birth. This research employs a library-based approach with thematic analysis of classical and contemporary sources. Findings indicate that tahnik serves as the child’s first spiritual education, introducing faith and parental affection, while aqiqah embodies gratitude, social care, and character formation. The integration of fiqh and tarbiyah Islamiyah highlights that fulfilling children’s rights in Islam begins at birth through spiritually and educationally meaningful practices. The study underscores the importance of revitalizing the meaning of tahnik and aqiqah beyond tradition, as integral instruments for nurturing morality and spirituality in Muslim families.

Abstract

The role of educational administration as a strategic instrument in school development, focusing on the function of managing and improving the quality of educational services. Through a systematic analysis of national and international literature, this study identified challenges faced by schools, such as policy changes, limited human resources and technology integration. The findings show that education administration can improve the quality of management and teacher performance, as well as the quality of education services if optimally implemented. However, administrative practices often fall short of their potential due to the lack of integration between theory and practice and the lack of adaptation to the local context. Therefore, this study recommends the need to strengthen institutional capacity through participatory approaches and effective use of information technology. As such, this study contributes to providing deeper insights into how education administration can function as an agent of change that has a positive impact on school development and the achievement of quality education.

Abstract

This study examines how parental economic level and parental expectancy influence santri self-efficacy through motivation, and how self-efficacy subsequently affects self-transformational outcomes among santri in Islamic boarding schools. While previous studies have largely focused on academic achievement or motivation as final outcomes, this research introduces self-transformational santri as an impact variable, representing sustained personal growth and internal change. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design is proposed, involving santri from Islamic boarding schools in Jambi Province (Kota Jambi, Sarolangun, and Bungo). Data are analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings are expected to demonstrate that parental economic level and parental expectancy positively influence motivation and self-efficacy, while self-efficacy santri serves as a key antecedent of self-transformational outcomes. This study contributes a novel psychological pathway model relevant to Islamic education management and pesantren development.

Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive examination of educational management in the light of Islamic standards by exploring its theological, philosophical, and practical foundations derived from the Qur’an, the Hadith, and both classical and contemporary Muslim scholarship. Islamic standards emphasize that education is not solely the transmission of knowledge but also the cultivation of moral character, ethical behavior, and spiritual consciousness. Core principles such as tawhid (oneness of God), shura (consultation), amanah (trust and accountability), ‘adl (justice), and ihsan (excellence) serve as essential foundations for planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating educational institutions. This article further elaborates on prophetic leadership as an ideal model for educational administrators, the Tawhidic curriculum that integrates religious and worldly sciences, and teacher professionalism framed through the roles of mu’allim (knowledge transmitter), murabbi (character nurturer), and muaddib (ethics cultivator). The study also examines Islamic financial management through zakat, waqf, and voluntary charity as sustainable instruments for educational development.

Abstract

The phenomenon of declining interest among children in religious activities indicates the need for more practical and continuous family education in instilling religious values. The family plays a primary and essential role in shaping the spiritual foundation of children through habit formation and role modeling. This study aims to explore family-based Islamic education strategies in fostering independence in worship among young children through prayer and fasting activities. This study uses a qualitative method with a library research approach, namely by reviewing and analyzing various scientific sources such as accredited journals, books, and the latest research results (2021–2025) relevant to the theme of worship habits in Muslim families. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques with stages of reduction, theme categorization, and conclusion drawing oriented towards theoretical findings and Islamic education practices in the family. The results of the study show that effective religious habits for children can be built through three main aspects: parental role modeling, consistent worship routines, and strengthening the religious environment at home. In addition, the targeted use of digital media and positive communication within the family also strengthen children's spiritual motivation. This study produced the concept of the Islamic Family Worship Habituation Model as a practical strategy for fostering spiritual independence in early childhood. The implications of the study emphasize the importance of synergy between families, Islamic educational institutions, and the social environment in shaping a generation of Muslims who are independent, have strong character, and are rooted in the values of faith and piety.
