Abstract

Abstract

Central Kalimantan Province has potential in the agricultural sector. The contribution of the agricultural sector, particularly from plantations, makes a significant contribution to the economy of the Central Kalimantan region. Despite having an abundant supply of raw materials, the processing industry's ability to increase the added value of agricultural and plantation commodities is still not optimal due to limited processing facilities. Therefore, to accurately determine the contribution of the industrial sector, especially the agro industry to the regional economy in Central Kalimantan, an analysis can be carried out using the 2016 input-output table. The results of the study show that two sub-sectors of the agro industry, namely the food and beverage the chemical, pharmaceutical and traditional medicine industries are the leading industrial sectors in Central Kalimantan. This explains that the agro-industrial sector can become a leading sector because it is able to improve the regional economy and develop other sectors.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how credit lending can improve MSEs performance, its impact on women micro and small entrepreneurs (PPMK) household welfare, and the determinants of their disinterest in subsidised loans. Using a sample of 82 PPMK households in Depok City and Bogor Regency with the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method, the results showed loans could boost business income. Still, the government’s credit with low-interest rates is not the primary choice due to limited knowledge, an obligation for collateral, and religious issues such as usury. This study also shows government credit assistance can improve the welfare of MSE households.

Abstract

The increasing consumption of fossil fuels and the limitation of its availability are twomajor causes of the fluctuating trends of fossil fuels prices. They are also believed tohave created instability of certain feedstock prices since alternative energy used as thesubstitution of fossil fuels is based on this feedstock as well. This research is aimed onreviewing the correlation between the dynamic movement of the prices of crude palmoil (CPO) which is used in the production of biodiesel and the government policy ondeveloping renewable fuels using dynamics system approach. In particular, this researchwill examine whether policy to try increase CPO export tax to 20 % and to allocate 50%of CPO production for domestic need will influence the effort of fullfilling mandatorytarget for biodiesel to contribute at least 5% of the total national energy consumption by2025 and CPO prices trends.Keyword: dynamics system, CPO, biodiesel, fossil fuel

Abstract

High feed prices and a high proportion of feed costs cause the profitability of fish farming businesses to decline. One of the government's efforts to reduce feed costs is encouraging fish farmers to produce their feed using local raw materials through Self-Sufficiency Fish Feed Program. This study aims to analyze program’s impact on the fish farming performance using the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method. Performance is measured by cost, revenue, profit, R/C ratio, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and technical efficiency which estimated using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results show that program implementation at the fish farmer's level has not positively impacted the fish farming business's performance. The results of the PSM analysis show that the program significantly impacts on costs, revenue, profit, R/C ratio, FCR, and technical efficiency. Farmers with programs have a higher average cost and FCR than farmers without programs. The fish farmers with program have a lower revenue, profit, R/C ratio and technical efficiency than fish farmers without program. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the main cause the program has not had a positive impact on the fish farming businesses performance is the quality of self-sufficiency fish feed. Therefore, the recommended policy is to create a system for supplying local raw materials with good quality, increasing feed formulation training and need specialize by forming group of self-sufficiency fish feed producers separated from the fish farming group.

Abstract

TALOPHY or aromatherapy pillow made from sheep's wool is an innovative product as a result of PKM 2020 activities. THALOPY is a new innovative product on the market, but the problem that occurs is the availability of raw sheep's wool which can only be obtained within a period of four months. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the technical and financial feasibility of the TALOPHY business plan. The methods used in this study are qualitative analysis on technical aspects and quantitative analysis on financial analysis. Technical aspects include business location, production scale, machine selection, production process, and the type of technology used. The financial aspect uses investment criteria including NPV, IRR, PP, and switching value analysis. The results of the study show the feasibility of the technical aspects, including the geographical location of the business, namely in Jatisari Village, Madiun Regency, East Java province; the availability of sheep wool is limited, namely only 800 kg every 4 months; the production scale is 200 pillows for one production (every 2 months); the production process of the TALOPHY business uses an intermittent or gradual method; the business layout facilitates production activities; and the technology is used as needed. Based on the results of the eligibility criteria, the TALOPHY business investment is not feasible to run. This is based on the NPV obtained for IDR 27,384,206, a net B/C of 1.3, an IRR of 4%, and a PP of 11 years and 8 months. The results of the switching value analysis show that the most sensitive factor or determinant of TALOPHY's business feasibility is a decrease in sales and a decrease in product prices, with a value of 1.63%. Abstract

Crop-livestock integration is a future agricultural system that can increase the added value of farming while and being environmentally friendly. However, it is not widely used by oil palm farmers. Oil palm integration with cattle is expected to meet the demand for oil palm organic fertilizer and utilize palm fronds as animal feed. The objective of this research is to analyse the factors that influence farmers’ decisions to implementing oil palm-cattle integration. A survey was conducted with 300 respondent who were chosen with purposive sampling with two categories: integrated farming and non-integrated farming. The logistic model was used to analyze adoption factors. The result shows that factors influencing the decision of farmers to adopt oil palm-cattle integration are the time of involvement of household head in farming, extension services, income from oil palm, and the household’s dependent ratio. Meanwhile, the factors that do not encourage farmers to adopt oil palm-cattle integration are formal education and involvement in farmer groups. The results observed several socio-economic factors that can lead to the increase of the crop-livestock integration such as farmers still requiring good extension and training. Abstract

Credit constraints on banks in the sugarcane plantation sector hinder efforts to achieve sugar self-sufficiency. Farmers' access to banking is often deemed difficult due to the dominance of small-scale farmers who lack collateral. In reality, farmers who successfully access banking sources also face constraints as the amount of credit received does not match the amount requested due to information imperfections between banks and farmers. Therefore, this research aims to identify the characteristics of farmers facing credit constraints, analyze the impact of credit constraints on productivity and technical efficiency, and identify the factors influencing technical inefficiency. The sample size consists of 4885 farmers who were then analyzed using ordinal probit regression, stochastic frontier analysis (SFA), total factor productivity (TFP), partial productivity, and propensity score matching (PSM) methods. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that land area and participation in agricultural organizations such as cooperatives and partnerships strengthen the degree of credit constraint. Meanwhile, land ownership and irrigated decrease the degree of credit constraint. The negative impact of credit constraints on productivity and technical efficiency is evident. Factors influencing technical efficiency include land status, land type, seed varieties, and participation in cooperatives and partnerships. This research has implications for bank policies that should not hinder farmers' access to banking services. This can be achieved by designing specific agricultural loans that view agriculture not as a risk but as a long-term investment. Keywords: credit constraint, propensity score matching (PSM), stochastic frontier analysis (SFA), technical efficiency
